Cause and Prerequisites

You created a stock transport order with delivery reference. Afterwards,
you generated a delivery with Transaction VL10B (or VL04). You use
Transaction VL02N (or VL02) to post this 'goods issue'. That is, the
material was posted from the supplying plant to the stock in transit of the
receiving plant. Finally, the goods receipt was posted with reference to
the delivery with Transaction MIGO or MB0A. That is, the material was
posted from the stock in transit of receiving plant to the unrestricted-use
stock of the receiving plant.
Due to business reasons, the entire quantity or a partial quantity should
be returned to the original supplying plant.

Solution
The return delivery process can be implemented as follows.
1.

Alternative A: Returns delivery

a) In the purchase order, a new returns item (indicator RETPO) is
created. As an alternative, you can create a new purchase order
with a returns item.
b) With Transaction MIGO or MB01, a goods issue (negative goods
receipt) is posted with reference to the purchase order with the
movement type 161. That is, the original receiving plant posts a
goods issue to the stock in transit of the original supplying
plant.
c) You create a delivery with Transaction VL10B (or VL04). Delivery
can also be created prior to the goods issue (step b).
d) With Transaction VL02N (or VL02) you post a goods receipt (negative
goods issue) for the delivery. That is, the originally supplying
plant posts a goods receipt from the stock in transit into the
unrestricted-use stock.

REMEMBER:
o

The described process is also described in detail in Note 430074.

The process can be executed with a one step stock transfer (see
Transaction OMGN).

During goods issue (negative goods receipt) with movement type 161,
the document flow of the returns delivery is not updated.

Alternative B: Return delivery using Transaction MBRL

a) You can use Transaction MBRL in order to return the material to the
supplying plant with movement type 122.
b) Indicator 'Create delivery' (XDELIV) is not set.
c) During goods issue with movement type 122, the stock in transit of
the original supplying plant is set up.
d) The document flow of the delivery is updated as well as the order
history. As a result, the stock transport order is open again and
the system expects a further goods receipt which disassembles the
set up stock in transit.
e) With Transaction VL09, the original goods issue with movement type
642 can be reversed.

REMEMBER:
o

For this scenario, it is not useful to post a partial return

delivery as Transaction VL09 can only reverse the complete
quantity. As a result, the stock in transit of the original
supplying plant must be set up completely by the return delivery.

The document flow is updated by Transaction MBRL.

The process of the return delivery is not possible with reference

to one step stock transfer. The system displays error message M7130
as the original goods receipt was posted with Transaction VL02N (or
VL02).
In order to reverse the entire quantity, you can use Transaction
VL09 in this case.

RESTRICTIONS:
o

The 'Create delivery' function of Transaction MBRL is not supported

for stock transport orders.
The automatic creation of a delivery was only designed for the
process of returning a delivery to an external supplier for a
vendor order.
