WHAT WE OFFER

Australian Writers Guild Authorship Collecting Society (AWGACS)

The Australian Writers Guild Authorship Collecting Society (AWGACS) was established by the Australian Writers Guild in 1996 as a not-
for-profit company limited by guarantee to collect international royalties for its Australian and New Zealand members.

These royalties arise from:

statutory levies on blank DVDs, videotapes and CDs

private and educational copying royalties

royalties collected for the retransmission of free-to-air television on cable and satellite TV

royalties collected for copying done by educational institutions, and

royalties collected for the rental of videotapes/CDs/DVDs.

You are eligible to join AWGACS if you are an Australian or New Zealand film or television writer.
Membership is free.
In 2009, the Australian Writers Guild Authorship Collecting Society (AWGACS) collected a million dollars in overseas royalties for the
first time. The royalties from overseas can only increase year by year with the addition of 16 more overseas partners. AWGACS now has
contracts with 21 overseas collecting societies: Argentina, Austria, Chile, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy,
Latvia, Mauritius, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland (Suissimage and SSA), United Kingdom and Uruguay.
If you have a writing credit for any Australian and New Zealand television series or serials, feature films, documentaries, childrens
television programs or shorts, you cant afford NOT to join AWGACS.

For information on joining AWGACS, contact the AWG Head Office direct on 02 9319 0339 or email awgacs@awg.com.au
