INTRODUCTION

Whatever your final career is, you can be sure that you
will come into daily contact with metals and will need to know
something of their properties. Art foundries specialize in
converting creative designs into bronze and other permanent
metallic materials. These designs are for the most part originated
in the studio using a modeling or construction material such as
clay or plaster. In addition to sculpture, art foundries also often
process architectural detail, furniture elements, interior/exterior
environmental design features and so on. In general, designs
destined for art foundry casting are referred to as `MASTER
PATTERNS or just plain `PATERNS. This term covers the whole
general range items sent to art foundries for casting and is used
frequently throughout this website instead of sculpture and other
descriptions to emphasize role PATTERNS play in the casting
process.

The manner in which a pattern is prepared for art

foundry processing is critical. The work done in creating the
pattern is perhaps the single most important factor in determining
the success or otherwise of a casting project. Any foundry pattern
is much more than just a `stand-alone sculpture, it is also a
template or blueprint for the entire casting process.

OBJECTIVE
1. Identify the causes of accidents in the shop environment.
2. Point out the location of fire extinguishers and other safety
equipment in the workshop.
3. Recite the rules of safety applicable to all of the tools and
equipment in the foundry area.
4. Describe the physical and mechanical processes that
occur in all of the cutting operations.
5. Demonstrate the correct usage of foundry safety gear.
6. Student will be demonstrated in operating the equipment
and using the tools in the foundry area.
7. Will be able to operate the machine safely.
8. Will be able to avoid unwanted accidents.

SAFETY PROCEDURE
1. Safety glasses and nose mask must be worn at all the time
in the foundry areas.
2. Safety shoe , apron and substantial upper wears must be
worn while working.
3. Long or loose hair must be keep properly by contained it or
tie it.
4. Watch or any hand jewelry must be removed.
5. Wear working cloth and pant to facilitate work process while
working.

WORKING PROCEDURES
PROCEDURES

i.DRAW THE DESIGN

FIRSTLY WE CAN SKETCH
TO GET AN IDEA , WHAT
DESIGN WE WANT TO DO
AND THEN WE MUST DRAW
THE DESIGN OF PATTERN
TO GET THE CORRECT
MEASURED AND
DIMENSION IN PROJECT
ii.CUT THE WOOD INTO THE
PART OF
EACH OF YOUR
DESIGN
CUT THE WOOD FOLLOW
THE CORRECT MEASURED
FROM THE SCALE THAT
YOU DRAW ,
CUT THE WOOD USING
THE MACHINE LIKE ,
HACKSAW , WOOD
GRINDER , AND ETC
iii.PATCH THE WOOD THAT
WE CUT AS DESIGN
PATCH THE WOOD AS IN
YOUR DESIGN TO GET THE
PATTERN; USUALLY WE
MAKE THE
PATCH
IN THREE LAYER SO LATER
IN THE PROCESS CASTING
MUCH MORE BETTER.

DISCUSSION
The wood pattern that we have done are not like as we
expected. Maybe it is because the time that has been given are
not enough and the machine cant cut the wood and follow the
design. We have to manually shaping the wood to be like as we
designed. When cutting the wood with the cutting machine, the
woods dust when all over the body. Luckily we follow safety
precaution by wearing eye protection and nose mask to covering
our eye and nose getting injured. We have to be gentle to operate
the jigsaw machine because the blade can be broken if too much
pressure are exerted to it. We have to change our design when we
know that our design is not going to succeed at last minute, and
we have changed it without any problem.

CONCLUSION

The wood pattern that we have done is based on a

companys logo. We followed the size that is same size with the
drag so that when we put the pattern on the drag it will fit and
there is no stuck. We use three layer of wood to make the pattern.
The machine that we using to cut these woods are jigsaw
machine and cutting saw machine. Wear safety attire to avoid
any accident happen.
