Personal Profile and Convenient access*
Personal Profile
Some of the vehicle's functions can be individually tailored and stored for a maximum of three
remote controls.
Different settings are retrieved and implemented
in the vehicle depending on the remote control
that is detected when unlocking the vehicle.
The majority of personal settings can be imported/exported and therefore transferred to another
vehicle with the Personal Profile function.

Keyless driving pleasure


The convenient access system allows you to gain
access to the vehicle and start the engine without
holding the remote control. The remote control is
automatically detected in the immediate vicinity or
inside the vehicle.

Applying the parking brake
Pull the switch; the LED lights up.

The OPTION menu consists of different
sections: screen settings, e.g. "Split screen".
This area remains unchanged. Operating
options for the selected main menu, e.g. for
"Radio".
Additional operating options for the selected

Integrated Owner's Handbook


Your BMW 7 Series comes with an integrated Owner's Handbook, which contains
all of the information necessary for you to
make the best use of your vehicle. For your
safety the integrated Owner's Handbook is
only displayed when the vehicle is stationary.
Searching for information

Context-sensitive help for iDrive


The Owner's Handbook for the currently
selected menu can be displayed.
Operation via iDrive:
1. Press the OPTION button from the
menu.
2. "Show Owner's Handbook"

You can switch between the integrated


Owner's Handbook and the currently
selected menu by using the BACK and
OPTION buttons. This is particularly helpful
for functions with multiple operating steps.

Printed Owner's Handbook


The printed Owner's Handbook is located
in the luggage compartment under the
cover on the right-hand side of the storage
compartment.

animations in the integrated Owner's
Handbook.

Favourites buttons

Navigation

CD/Multimedia

iDrive functions can be stored on the Favourites


buttons and called up directly, e.g. radio
stations, navigation destinations, telephone
numbers or frequently used menus.

Storing a function
1. Highlight the function via iDrive.
2. Press and hold the desired button for longer
than two seconds.
Executing a function
Press theAUTO
button.
The function is executed immediately. This
means that e.g. on selection of a telephone
number the connection is also established.

Tip
You can also save content of the integrated
Owner's Handbook to the Favourites buttons.

Displaying the assignment of the


buttons
Touch the buttons briefly with your finger.
The assignment of the buttons is displayed
at the top edge of the screen.
Display brief info: touch the button.
Display detailed information: press and hold
the button.

Tip
You can save this function to the Favourites
buttons for easy access to the context-sensitive help feature. Select the text "Show
Owner's Handbook" in the "Options" menu
and save to a Favourites button.

You can select the information which can be

The split screen is activated and the displayed
information will remain visible, even if another
menu is selected.

Tip
You can also add the split screen view to the
Favourites buttons.

Equipment can be operated via spoken
commands thanks to the voice input system.
The majority of text that appears on the Control
Display can be used as commands.
An example: calling up the FM waveband

Storing music
Music tracks from CDs and DVDs can be
imported into an in-car music collection.

5. "Save in car"
The music collection is displayed.
The tracks are stored and played back in
sequence from the music collection.
While storing music please note the following:
do not switch back to the CD/DVD player and
do not remove the CD from the CD/DVD player,
as this will interrupt the storing process.

Pairing your mobile phone with the


vehicle
1. Switch on the ignition.
2. Activate Bluetooth on your mobile phone
and in the vehicle.
3. If necessary, make Bluetooth pre-settings on
your mobile phone, e.g. connection without
confirmation or enable visibility of mobile
phone.
4. Think of a 4 to 16-digit number to be
entered later as a passkey. The passkey is
only required once for pairing.

The Bluetooth name of the vehicle is shown
on the Control Display.
8. Use your mobile phone to search for
Bluetooth devices; refer to your mobile
phone's user manual for further information.
The Bluetooth name of the vehicle is shown

9. Select the Bluetooth name of the vehicle on
your mobile phone.
A request to enter the Bluetooth passkey
appears on the mobile phone display or via
the iDrive.

Refuelling/oil level

Refuelling
Opening the fuel filler flap:
lightly press the rear edge.
Fuel grade
Diesel:
BMW recommends using Diesel fuel in
compliance with DIN EN 590.
Petrol:
BMW recommends using premium-grade
unleaded petrol with 95 RON.
Minimum grade: unleaded petrol 91 RON.
Maximum ethanol percentage: 10%, i.e. E10.

Electronic oil level check


The oil level is monitored electronically and shown
on the control display.
For recommended oil types refer to the Owner's
Handbook.

Refuelling 35
Tyre pressure
Run Flat Indicator
The system identifies a loss of pressure by
comparing the speeds of rotation of the individual
wheels as the car is travelling.
The system must be initialised with the correct tyre
pressures in order for it to respond reliably in
detecting a flat tyre.
Operation via iDrive:
1. "Vehicle information"
2. "Vehicle status"
3. "Confirm tyre pressure"
4. Start the engine, do not start driving.
5. "Confirm tyre pressure"
6. Start driving.
RPA is no replacement for tyre air pressure checks.

Tip
Check the tyre pressure twice a month and
reinitialise the system after each correction of
tyre pressure and each tyre or wheel change.

Tyre pressure
The inflation pressures specified for approved tyre
sizes are located on the door pillar of the driver's door.
If the speed code letter for the tyre cannot be located,
use the tyre pressure for the corresponding size, e.g.
225/45 R19.
