ROTARY CLUB OF BEAUMARIS WEEKLY BULLETIN

Next Meetings

Presidents Report
Welcome to 2015. I hope you all had a relaxing
break and are ready for the coming year. We have
already had our unofficial start to 2015, with the
Golf and BBQ at Victoria. It was great to see 62
attend, and thanks to those who brought partners
and friends. Special thanks to Tony for his organisation, and keeping track of scores and working out
who won.
Last week we again heard a moving talk, which
highlights what an individual can do when they set
some far reaching goals. Michael Gallus, from
Footys 4 Us, has achieved a lot since he last
spoke to us, plus he is also a great ambassador for
Rotary. I thank those who reached deep into their
wallets and gave much more than the $3 donation
for the Greenaid Bandaids. I know we will have
more to do with Michaels cause in the coming
year. We also had Jason Tonks from Century 21
come along as a guest to see what Rotary is about.
Yeah!!! Our Farmers market has made it through
the council process without any objections, so all
we are waiting for is the official letter and we should
be underway in February or March. Thank you Peter Flude for persistence in this very complicated
process.

Kerrie Geard has taken on the role of New Generations Director, after Rob had to step down due to
work requirements. I know Kerrie has lots of experience in this area and will ensure the club keeps
this aspect of service fully engaged.
Malcolm Sawle has created a new banner concept
which was on display at the meeting. This new idea
will enable us to easily add or update banners.
Have a look at the next meeting and think about
what new banners we might create.
We have a Club Forum coming up on Feb 5th.
Please bring your thoughts, ideas etc. and be willing to engage in the discussion. On Feb 26th we
have a fellowship night which will be run by Hampton. It is a Film Night: The Second Best Exotic
Marigold Hotel, starring Judy Dench and Maggie

This Weeks Speaker: Michael Gallus

Topic: Footys 4 All
We had a return visit from Michael Gallus the founder of Footys4All Foundation which aims to provide
every child with access to sporting opportunities,
including those remote regions of Victoria and
Northern territory through the presentation of Footballs of all types to individuals in need and this
presentation is linked with mentoring programme to
encourage future sporting participation
Michael believes that sport teaches character and
lessons learnt playing sport can be transferred to
the rest of your life

ident Ken Mirams pictured and all the supportive

Beaumaris Rotarians for all their continued support
of all that Footys4all does in distributing hope and a
sporting opportunity to children in need.

Michael gave us an update on the amazing progress of the foundation telling us how it has headed
overseas to Africa and NZ and how Nissan has donated a car which he drove to Victoria (see picture).
There are plans to move into India and Fiji.
As pictured below Michael gave every Rotarian a
Brochure asking for support and Green Aid band
Aids which we all agreed to pay the $3 price to help
the Foundation.

He has been working with the Education department to allow the Foundation into 115 State
schools. He has also been working in prisons and
has made great progress in the NT with the help of
Michael long.
Michael has support from a number of other high
profile Australians including Pat Mc Goren, Cadel
Evans and Sam Soliman.
He has recently met with the PM when the foundation was in the top three finalists for the Fair Go
Medal
He has a number of generous sponsors including
TNT, Egans, Band Aid, Essendon Nissan, Essendon and Penleigh GS (Where he teaches) and Rotary.

There were many question and expressions of support from the floor.
