Progress Report
Fly ash utilization is very important for decreasing the cement consumption and making construction
sustainable. Prediction of strength and the proportion of cement to be decreased has been always an issue.
Pusa proposed efficiency factor for design and strength prediction of concrete for normal concrete range.
This work was limited in many sense. Murumi has extended the verification of this proposal in normal
strength ranges. The present research focuses on the verification of this efficiency factor concept in low
strength range. The current research present a set of possibilities starting from the minimum limits for
structural concrete to minimum strength required for bricks. An experimental study has been done to
investigate the strength, Modulus of elasticity and water permeability of the low cement concrete. All these
experiments highlight the possibility of minimizing cement consumption and verification of the efficiency
factor formulation for fly ash in low strength range.
