Institution(s)
Social institutions are established
or standardized patterns of rulegoverned behavior.

They include
the
family,
education,
and religion,
economic
and political
institutions.

Family

A
SOCIALLY
DEFINED SET OF
RELATIONSHIPS
BETWEEN
AT
LEAST
TWO
PEOPLE RELATED
BY
BIRTH,
MARRIAGE,
ADOPTION, OR, IN
SOME
DEFINITIONS, LONG-STANDING TIES OF INTIMACY.

Education
A FORMAL PROCESS IN WHICH KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS, AND VALUES ARE SYSTEMATICALLY

TRANSMITTED
FROM
ONE
INDIVIDUAL
OR
GROUP
TO
ANOTHER.

Religion
A UNIFIED SYSTEM OF BELIEFS AND PRACTICES
PERTAINING TO THE SUPERNATURAL AND TO
NORMS ABOUT THE RIGHT WAY TO LIVE THAT IS
SHARED BY A GROUP OF BELIEVERS.

Economic
A SOCIOLOGIST
UNDERSTANDS
THE ECONOMY
AS THE SET OF
ARRANGEMENTS
BY WHICH A SOCIETY PRODUCES, DISTRIBUTES,
AND CONSUMES GOODS, SERVICES, AND OTHER
RESOURCES.

political

INSTITUTIONS
THAT
PERTAIN
TO
THE
GOVERNANCE OF A SOCIETY, ITS FORMAL
DISTRIBUTION OF AUTHORITY, ITS USE OF FORCE,
AND ITS RELATIONSHIPS TO OTHER SOCIETIES
AND POLITICAL UNITS. THE STATE, AN IMPORTANT
POLITICAL INSTITUTION IN MODERN SOCIETIES, IS
THE APPARATUS OF GOVERNANCE OVER A
PARTICULAR TERRITORY.

CONFLICT THEORY:
PLURALISM AND DEMOCRACY ARE ILLUSIONS THAT INVITE
THE POWERLESS TO BELIEVE THAT THEY HAVE A VOICE IN
GOVERNANCE, WHEN IN FACT THEIR CONTROL IS QUITE
LIMITED.

Institutionalisation

REFERS TO THE PROCESS OF EMBEDDING

SOMETHING (FOR EXAMPLE A CONCEPT, A SOCIAL
ROLE, A PARTICULAR VALUE OR MODE OF
BEHAVIOR) WITHIN AN ORGANIZATION, SOCIAL
SYSTEM, OR SOCIETY AS A WHOLE.
THE TERM MAY ALSO BE USED IN A POLITICAL
SENSE TO APPLY TO THE CREATION OR
ORGANIZATION OF GOVERNMENTAL INSTITUTIONS
OR PARTICULAR BODIES RESPONSIBLE FOR
OVERSEEING OR IMPLEMENTING POLICY, FOR
EXAMPLE IN WELFARE OR DEVELOPMENT.

Philippine
economy &
education

the more and the better educated a

population, the greater the chances of
a country to grow its economy

Filipinos have a
deep regard for
education,
which is viewed
by many as a
tool to lift their
families out of
poverty.
However,
with
extremely
limited
resources, they have to make a tough
choice between sending their children

to
a
public
school or use
their
limited
resources
for
basic
needs.
Because of that,
the chances of
the family to move out of poverty have
been greatly reduced.

Factors that affect the

Philippine economy
Brain Drain
The
ongoing
emigration of Filipino
professionals
has
posed
some
very
serious problems to
the
Philippine
economy.

Skilled
people
with
experience leave the
country to look for jobs
that have better pay.
And because of this, the
ones that were left are
people who have limited
or no experience making
the competitiveness of the economy and its
ability to attract investors quite low.
Division of Social Class

The
educational
opportunities between
the
underprivileged
and the rich are still a
huge problem in the
Philippines.
The quality may have
improved
but
its
availability to the Filipino
people who need it the

most hasnt changed that much over the

past few years.

Millions of students are enrolled in the

countrys public school system. At an annual
population growth rate of 1.7%, thousands
of children are born every year. In a few
years, these individuals will claim their
share of the limited educational provisions.
There are just few little resources for too
many students.
