Bio
ANGEL LOCSIN is Angelica Colmenares in real life. She was born on April 23, 1985 in
Santa Maria, Bulacan. Angel spent her elementary education in Bulacan and
graduated high school in University of Santo Tomas High School.
Angel Locsin's entry to showbiz was unplanned. She was discovered by a talent
scout while she was shopping at SM City North EDSA. Some sources said she was
spotted by a talent scout while she was shopping with friends after they skipped
classes.
Angel first auditioned in ABS-CBN's Star Circle Batch 9 but she was not signed due
to some disagreements in her contract. She was then drafted by GMA Artist Center
after a year and she started to appear in GMA's teen oriented show "Click". She was
also included in the cast of "Ang Iibigin Ay Ikaw Pa Rin" and "All Together Now".
RISE TO FAME
In 2003, Angel co-starred with Richard Gutierrez in the fantaserye "Mulawin" where
she portrayed the character of Alwina. After "Mulawin", Angel Locsin was given her
first major role in the remake of super heroin "Darna" of Mars Ravelo. Darna made
waves in local TV. It is the first primetime program to reach a rating of 47.1% and
recorded the highest rating by a GMA show for that year (2005) when it reached
52.1% in its fourth episode.
"Darna" put Angel to prominence. Due to the show's popularity, Angel was offered
several TV-Shows, movies, endorsements and big projects which catapulted Angel
to where she is now.
After "Darna", Angel starred in two more Kapuso primetime shows namely "Majika"
with Dennis Trillo and "Asian Treasures" with Robin Padilla. "Asian Treasures" is the
last project of Angel in GMA-7 as she then transferred to ABS-CBN.
ABS-CBN
In ABS-CBN, she first appeared in "Maalaala Mo Kaya: Pilat" with Sam Milby. On
January 28, 2008, she launched her first drama series (teleserye) in ABS-CBN
entitled Lobo with Piolo Pascual. "Lobo" gained popularity nationwide and it also
gained many Piolo Pascual - Angel Locsin followers. It premiered with a rating of
27.7% while its highest rating was 33.4%. The series ended on July 11, 2008.
In 2009, Angel starred in the top-rated TV series, Only You, a Philippine remake of
the Korean drama of the same title aired by SBS (South Korea) in 2005. She stars
with Sam Milby and Diether Ocampo, directed by Rory Quintos which aired last April
27, 2009 at ABS-CBN Primetime.
In 2010, she starred in Imortal, the continuation of Lobo which was directed by Chito
S. Roo and which also starred John Lloyd Cruz. This was the first that Angel had

worked with John Lloyd in a teleserye.


In 2011, she became a guest star in the comedy sitcom, Toda Max. However, her
guesting eventually turned into a regular stint.
FILMS
Angel Locsin's first movie appearance was "Ping Lacson: Supercop" where she
played the role of the young Robina Gokongwei. It was followed by "Mano Po 2",
"Kuya" and "Singles". Her next two movies were both official entries in the Metro
Manila Film festival namely "Mano Po 3" and "Sigaw".
In 2005, GMA Films released the film, "Let The Love Begin" starring Angel with
Richard Gutierrez, directed by Mac Alejande. It grossed 103 million pesos at the box
office. She also reprised her role as Alwina in "Mulawin: The Movie" with Richard
Gutierrez.
In early 2006, Angel starred her second valentine movie film with GMA Films, "I Will
Always Love You" with Richard Gutierrez and directed by Mac Alejandre. The film
grossed approximately 114.92 million pesos. She then starred the Filipino horror
film, "TxT" and in 2006's Metro Manila Film Festival offering, "Mano Po 5".
In early 2007, Angel also reunited with Richard Gutierrez in "The Promise" where
their roles were considered more mature than their last film. This was her last film
with GMA Films before she signed a contract with Star Cinema.
She had also produced her own film entitled "Angels", which was shown in theaters
on April 12, 2007.
In 2009, Angel starred in her first movie under Star Cinema, "Love Me Again". The
film was shot in Impasug-ong and Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. Other scenes were
also shot in Darwin, Australia. The film premiered on January 15, 2009.
In 2011, Angel starred in a Filipino-drama film "In the Name of Love". The film which
also starred Aga Muhlach and Jake Cuenca and is a part of the special presentation
for Star Cinema's 18th year anniversary placed at the 15th spot in a Top 20 list of
movies worldwide with the highest gross on the week of May 11, 2011 to May 18,
2011. It grossed approximately 117.23 million pesos in the box office as reported by
Box Office Mojo.
In February 2012, Angel appeared in a Filpino romantic comedy film "Unofficially
Yours" with John Lloyd Cruz, directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina. The film is graded "B"
by the Cinema Evaluation Board of the Philippines with a rating of R-13. With a gross
of more than 157 million pesos, the movie became Angel's highest grossing film so
far.
ACTING AWARDS
Angel won her first acting award for Best Single Performance By An Actress in the
22nd PMPC Star Awards for TV for her role in the Maalaala Mo Kaya episode "Pilat".

In 2009, Angel is nominated in the International Emmy Awards as Best Actress for
her outstanding performance in the TV series, "Lobo".
In March 2012, Angel won as Movie Actress of the Year in the 28th PMPC STAR
Awards for Movies for her role as Mercedes Fernandez in the movie "In the Name of
Love". In April 2012, Angel is recognized as the PASADO Best Actress for her
performance in the same movie. This time, the organization which will give Angel
the recognition is the Pasado or Pampelikulang Samahan ng mga Dalubguro.
Angel won as Best Actress in the 2013 PMPC Star Awards for Movies, Guillermo
Mendoza Awards and FAMAS.
