Description:

Carriers will be notified when an EMD is issued against a manually sold

service

Impact Summary:

The service segment will be changed from an EK status to a status code of

HI after EMD issuance.

Reason For Issue:

Once the EMD has been issued and status changes to HI, an automatic TTY
message is sent to the participating carrier. Agents will not have to manually
enter the EMD number into the OSI field.
This functionality presently not applicable for Group Deposits.

Overview
When the EMD-S is issued, the service segment will be updated with a different status code and the EMD
number then transmitted to the airline PNR. This will eliminate the need for the agent to enter an OSI
remark manually.
Note: Until an industry decision has been reached about EMDs issued against a Group Name, agents
MUST continue to add the OSI remark for Group Deposits.

Customer Benefit

To Align with the AIRIMP standard

The new process automates the sending of EMD data to the carrier and eliminates the need for
agents to manually enter an OSI remark containing the EMD number, saving time

Enhancement will prevent ADMs being produced against missing OSI remarks

Enhancement works for airlines using EMD-S (Presently, British Airways and Finnair) - Excludes
Group Deposits

Detail and Customer Examples

The status code of a manually sold service segment will be updated to HI at the time the EMD is issued
and the EMD number is added. This SVC segment is then sent to the airline automatically via
teletype.
