Ages
This question was asked to generally have an idea of what age groups
particularly like horror films. From the results of the graph I can see that the age
group that has the most people was the seventeen year olds. By gathering this
piece of information I was able to conclude that the majority of the people that
horror films really appeal to are people of this age group. I have found that in
terms of the marketing industry best-selling films are won in the likes of people
of this age range as they are able to benefit in the release of their films. From
these results I have been able to set a target audience that my trailer will be able
to appeal to which would be age 15+ because I know that if I was to be in the
film production industry appealing to this age range will benefit the company
financially.

This question was asked to give me an idea of how many people (out of the
sample I had given questionnaires) liked horror movies. My intentions were to
see out of the people gathered (representatives of the general public) the
majority liked horror movies. From my results I concur that a greater portion of
people are in favour, this was helpful visually as I was able to identify how much
people appreciate horror movies and also how there is a small sum of them that
didnt. Therefore in the production of my trailer I will push boundaries as my
audience have such appreciation for horror movies therefore this will motivate
me to want to live up to their expectations and produces something as good as

the real productions. My aim will be to convince the small percentage of those
who dont particularly like horror films to see horror films from a different
perspective. I will implement the enthusiasm towards horror movies in my
production.

What is the best horror movie you have seen?
The reason as to why this question was asked to have an overview of the
different types of horror films suggested by from this vast demographic. Where I
have specified the word 'best' is to get an idea of the films that they have
considered the best and from this I will be able to identify What it is about these
film choices that have made it recognizable amongst this demographic. I will be
able to learn about the different aspects of the film including; the plot, editing,
sound, and costume as this will help me in finding ways to adapt this to my film.
The results from the research are displayed showing a range of opinions in the
choices of film. Two of the most popular amongst them were 'The Hills Have
Eyes' and 'Case 39'therefore I will be able to look into the concepts of each film
and identify what it is that captures the attention of the audience

What is the worst horror movie you have seen?
By specifying the 'worst' film they have seen because it helps me to create
guidelines for the structure of my film trailer, being able to identify what it is
about each particular film that wasn't able to appeal to this demographic. For
example the plot structure being weak or not having enigmatic codes, poor
editing, standard sound effects, not being able to get the thrill that horror films
bring. From this research there was also a variety of opinions as it was an open
question to present an answer of their choice rather than from a selection. I
found that 'Shawn of the dead ' was a common choice this could be down to the
comedic elements of the horror film and post-modern structure where it deviates
from structuralised films.

Question 6

Every Day

number of people
The relevance of this question was to find out how often people watch horror
movies, what would have made the results to this question more beneficial is if I
had put in a time scale of how many times a week, month, or year they watch
them to record their frequent use of it. I found that people generally watch horror
films 'every month'. To some extent emphasises the significance of horror films,
they aren't as frequently watched like soap operas and general episodic TVs
dramas, but horror films are watched occasionally which helps to maintain the
thrill and excitement of watching theme alive.

Religion
Apocalypse
= per person
This question was asked to find out what sub genres people enjoy watching and
this has been able to give me an over view of the preferable kind amongst this
audience so that this will be the focal point of my film, and I will be able to
develop it in a way that a way that is most appealing to my audience and serves
its purpose well. From the results gathered J-horror and supernatural were most
popular, therefore both concepts of film will be merged together to create
something original and appealing to my target audience.

Question 8
The relevance of this question was to truly find out what people are afraid of,
because most horror movies tend to be based upon what people fear the most as
it is able create more of a thrill to the film as they are made to face their fears
within a film as well as reality (dual stimulants of anxiety). From this I would be
Christal Domingo
able to able to use their fears at an advantage to enhance the quality of the film
as viewers with similar fears will be able will be able to relate on a more personal
level. The results show a diverse amount of fears; from things as small as spiders
to as large as drowning and from this I will be able to carefully pick some of
these fears so that it can be developed to fit well with my plot.
Question 9

Special

Actors
Gore
= 1 person
= 5 people
Here I wanted to find out what is the main part of the film advertisement that
makes people so urgently want to go and see the film. As the trailer is the key
element of advertisement so I really wanted to know what were the main things
that were able to capture the audiences attention, whether it was the; sound,
editing, critical review comments, special effects, actors, or even the gore of the
film. Editing was selected by most which made me understand what the focal
point of film is and what gives people the determination to want to watch it is
generally the quality of the editing the skill and tactics used to manipulate
moving image and for it to be presented in a way that will have an impact on the
audience. A lot of research would need to go into learning how to use the final
cut software to be able to produce something as professional as a real film
trailer.

Question 10
Christal Domingo
Ensuring that the plot line will be of great interest to the target audience is
vital therefore I listed some sample concepts of plots line for the candidates
answering the questionnaires. 'Fear of the unknown' outnumbered the rest
from this I was able to see that plot lines with enigmatic features tend to be
of great interest amongst audiences.
