Industrial Engineering studies equipped me with a strong foundation in a broad spectrum of topics encompassing
Operations Research, Production Management, Project Management, Logistics and Supply chain, Quality Management,
Modelling and Simulation, Human reliability analysis and application of a very wide range of management science
concepts and engineering technology. The most significant impact of the course was, however, recognition of my
strengths and capabilities. Alongside successful completion of academic projects and assignments at my work place, I
also gained experience in taking on supplementary projects of direct relevance and indirect bearing on the shaping of a
true professional. And for these character building opportunities I am indebted to my alma mater.
I recognised a strong pull towards the underlying principles and concepts of Operations Research and Management.
There was comprehensiveness about the subject that drew me to explore its interconnected nature at length and in
depth. The influx of mathematical modelling and critical thinking in managerial decision making excites me while also
going hand in hand with my specific skill sets. The study of modern technological subjects has brought home the
realisation that in a world where most organisations are overwhelmed with information, being a strong source of
guidance and certainty and providing proactive leadership is critical. I am aware that in contemporary contexts, the
Operations Research must have an exceptional aptitude for dealing with people within the organisation and along the
rest. I believe that I have the attributes for a role such as that. I have proven my skills of persuasion and negotiation,
along with the ability to take charge of situations and resolve real time complex issues without frayed nerves. I am
confident that these transferable skills can be applied in a supply chain management job.
I am eager to join the Masters program at The University at Buffalo with Operations Research/ Supply Chain as my
major. In my search for a program suited to my capabilities and requirements I have come to the portals of the State
University of New York at Buffalo. With the specific goal of a long sustained and successful career in the domain, I need
to reconfigure my proficiencies in alignment with the complex and rapidly evolving global economy in mind. The
curriculum at the State University of New York is carefully crafted to incorporate elements of modern frames of
reference. Personalised instruction, a high measure of industry partnerships and case-based studies ensure that the
student body step out equipped for long rigorous work weeks and severe demands on their resources in a real
environment. Enabling graduates to perform in a non-traditional profession and one that is targeted to be a boom field is
the privilege of a handful of forward thinking internationalised institution. The University at Buffalo is all that and more. To
enter its roll calls would be the realisation of a long standing dream.
Armed with international exposure and training by iconic figures I am confident of resonating with multiple global
audiences in positions of power.
