Introduction
Web Applications Desktop Integrator (Web ADI) is a self-service Oracle Application.
Web ADI generates Microsoft Excel or Word documents on your desktop and downloads the data
you have selected from the application to be viewed, or modified and uploaded. It can also be
used to load legacy data into Oracle HRMS, and allows you to manage the Mail Merge process.
The Web ADI integration with Microsoft Excel enables you to bring your E-Business Suite data
to a spreadsheet where familiar data entry and modeling techniques can be used to complete
Oracle E-Business Suite tasks.
You can create formatted spreadsheets on your desktop that allow you to download, view, edit,
and create Oracle E-Business Suite data. After editing the spreadsheet, you can use Web ADI's
validation functionality to validate the data before uploading it to the Oracle E-Business Suite.
Validation messages are returned to the spreadsheet, allowing you to identify and correct invalid
data. The fields that appear in the spreadsheet, their positions, and their default values can all be
customized through Web ADI's Layout functionality.

Function Security

Must create a function to secure Integrator.

System Administrator Application Function.

Attach function to Menu.

Attach function to Integrator.

We would eventually get a conformation that the integrator was successfully added.
Oracle uses the menu function process to secure integrators. Therefore, we must create a menu
function and attach it the menus that are allowed to use it. Then we attach the function to
the integrator. This is a System Administrator process.
Define Form Function HR_OFFER_LETTERS using System Administrator:
Responsibility: System Administrator
Navigation: Application > Function.

Add Defined Form Function To Respective Responsibilities.

Responsibility: First Qatar HRMS Super User.

Now we need to attach this function to our newly created integrator. Once again, we are going to
use Web ADI to do this for us. Select Create Document to start this process.

Web ADI Terminology (UPLOADING HR DATA)

Integrator
Layout
Mapping
Document Management
Document Management Links

Integrator is the main object in Web ADI. It is used to contain all of the relevant information
concerning a particular download or upload. It controls whether you can only download, only
upload or both. You can control who has access to an integrator by a responsibility.
The Layout defines the columns that will appear on the spreadsheet or Word Document based on
the View Defined. You can have more than one layout associated with an integrator.
Mappings are used when you are bringing in data from a legacy flat file into Oracle.
The mapping definition will map the columns on the legacy file to the view that will
be used to upload the data into the application tables.
After Exporting applicants Data From HRMS Responsibility, It generates a Source file in Word
Document. Template Letter are generated using Source document. Document management is
used to upload the Templates that are used for generating letters.
Document Management links the template document created based on source word document to
link it to Custom integrator and layout defined.
There will be seeded Integrators available for particular Applications Requirement.
Following are the seeded integrators Available in Web ADI.
Implementing Web ADI
Overview:

It describes how to set up form functions to call the Web ADI Create Document page flow. Once
set up, the user can create a spreadsheet to download and upload data to a specific product.
When you install the Web ADI patch, it automatically creates form functions, menus, and
Responsibilities. The table that follows describes the form functions that are automatically
created when you install the Web ADI patch.

Oracle HRMS Web ADI Implementation and Configuration Supplement (228527.1)

Patch 3196360 for viewlets Mail merge example.

Patch 4112747 for Viewlets Associating Form Functions with integrators.

Debugging:
You can get a log file to help diagnose an error in Web ADI. The following profile options need to be set:

1)BNE :Server Log Filename : webadi_trace.log

2)BNE :Server Log Level

: TRACE.

3)BNE :Server Log Path

: /usr/tmp.

4) CRITICAL_ERROR

: - Messages that are the result of a system failure. The integrity

and reliability of the system is in doubt as a result of this error.

5) WARNING
: Messages trapped by the application. These errors were handled
by the application but the system administrator should be aware of them occurring. Setting the
profile option to this value will include ERROR and CRITICAL_ERROR messages as well.
6)INFORMATION

: - Additional messaging is added to the log file that includes

processing information. Setting the profile option to this value includes CRITICAL_ERROR,
WARNING, and ERROR log messages. This is the setting that is used by Web ADI if the
profile option is not set at the site level.
7)DETAIL
: - Messages that summarize what is written to the log file. Setting
the profile option to this value includes CRITICAL_ERROR, WARNING, ERROR, and
INFORMATION log messages.
8)TRACE
: - Messaging that generated detailed debugging statements.
Setting the profile option to this value includes CRITICAL_ERROR, WARNING, ERROR,
INFORMATION and DETAIL log messages.
