FRANCE: FRENCH HOUSEHOLD CONSUMPTION COULD

INCREASE BY 1% IN 2015
Economists predict an increase of 1 % of French household consumption due to the fall in oil prices
Oil constitutes 10 % of the total French household consumption basket
The fall in oil prices could relapse 6-8 Bn in the French economy, yielding an average disposable income of 200
per household
Low interest rate coupled with greater purchasing power would thus stimulate consumption rather than saving
Conversely though, the high unemployment rate could possibly restrain potential consumption, if households would
save the surplus of purchasing power

FRANCE: ALSTOM SIGNS A CONTRACT WORTH 518 M

WITH SOCIT DU GRAND PARIS, STIF AND RATP
Immediate order of 518 M consisting of 35 new trains to improve the Parisian metro network
The contract with Socit du Grand Paris, Union of transports in the Paris region and RATP has a length of 15 years
with the potential of attaining 2 Bn
Included in the project scope is the extension of the metro line 14 in order to connect with Paris Orly Airport
Introduction of self-propelled trams is projected into 2021

Alstom has also been listed by SNCF as a potential provider of the next generation of RER trains
The decision whether or not Alstom will be in charge of the construction, will be taken in the coming months

FRANCE: SCA INVESTS IN NEW WATER PURIFICATION

FACILITIES, ANTICIPATING EU REGULATIONS
SCA France anticipates the EUs water purification regulations, which will be implemented in 2018
First investment of 3,5 M in biological treatment facilities in 2013 at the Gien plant in the Loiret region
Second in investment of 2 M by installing lagoons to filter the water at the Kunheim plant in the Haut-Rhin region
1.

First mechanical filtration and cooling of the water

2.

Final filtration through so-called lagoons where the water is filtered trough gravel, reed and bacteria that digests
remaining organic matter

3.

A draining system finally transports the water into the Rhine river

The investment will enable SCA to filter 3000 cubic meters of water per day, which would be cleaner than what is
required by future regulations, according to SCA officials

FRANCE: SEGOLENE ROYAL ADVOCATES FOR ELECTRIC

CARS, AIMING FOR CLEANER AIR IN FRENCH CITIES
The French Minister of Ecology, sustainable Developement and Energy advocates for better air conditions in the the
French cities
Identification of several measures, to be launched before the summer:
1.

Labels identifying non polluting cars enableing free parking, usage of buss lines and permission to drive during
pollutions peaks

2.

Subsidies amounting to 10 000 when buying an electric car or 6 500 when buying a hybrid car

3.

Tax reductions for households when installing charging terminals

4.

Subisdy of 500 when replacing an old diesel driven car by a car emitting less than 110 g CO2/km

The French Energy minister wants 7 million charging terminals for electric cars to be installed in France by 2030

FRANCE: IKEA FOCUSES ON ECO-FRIENDLY TRANSPORT

SOLUTIONS FOR ITS CUSTOMERS IN PARIS
IKEA in Paris purchases new delivery trucks driven on biomethane
Investment synchronized with the Parisian mayors decision of banning polluting trucks from the streets of inner Paris
starting the 1st of July 2015
IKEA stores in the Paris region have recently installed electric car charging terminals to further facilitate the access to
the companys stores
The Paris region is the first to adopt an environmental friendly delivery system
According to sources, other IKEA stores in Lyon, Marseille, Lille and Grenoble will also have invested in trucks of the
same type as in Paris by the end of 2015
