FORMAT FOR SEMINAR REPORT

1. ARRANGEMENT/SEQUENCE OF SEMINAR REPORT


PRETEXT
1. Title Page: You must not use professor or any other title of the Supervisor on the cover
page of Seminar Report. Title of Seminar should be a combination of upper case and
lower case letter. It should not be all CAPS.
2. Acknowledgement (next page)
3. Abstract: The abstract should be a concise statement of the nature and contents of the
report. It should not exceed 350 words. (single page)
4. Table of Contents/Index: The first section following the table of contents is list of tables
and figures. Therefore it should be mentioned first in table of contents.
5. List of Abbreviations
6. List of Tables: Caption for tables is at the top of the table.
7. List of figures: Caption for the figure is at the bottom of the figure.
TEXT: The text should be divided into chapters.
POST TEXT
1. References: They should conform to IEEE standards.
2. Bibliography
3. Appendices
2. MARGINS
The report should have minimum page margins as follow:

Left: 1.2 inches


Right: 1 inches
Top and Bottom: 1 inches (each)

These margins should be consistent all throughout the report.

3. LINE SPACING & PAGE ARRANGEMENT

1. The document should be 1.5 spaced. Exceptions to it are the Table of Contents, List of
Tables, Tables, Figures, Graphs, Bibliography, References, and Appendices. These may be
single-spaced.
2. Each new chapter or major section like Appendix, Bibliography, and CV begins on a new
page.
4. FONTS
Font type: Times New Roman. Use only one font throughout the report, exceptions being in
tables, figures, graph, and appendices.
Font Size:

Text: 12
Main Headings (Chapter names): 16, bold
Sub-Headings: 14, bold
References, Bibliography, and Appendices: 10

5. TOTAL NUMBER OF PAGES: It should be between 20-40 pages, printed single side
6. NUMBERING OF PAGES
PRETEXT
1. Beginning with the first page of the preface or acknowledgement, all pages preceding the
actual text should be numbered in lower case Roman numeral centred at the bottom of
the page.
2. Do not put page number on title page, although all should be include in the counting of
pages.
TEXT:
1. The first page of first chapter starts with page number 1, and subsequently pages should
be numbered subsequently.
2. All Page numbers should be placed in same location i.e. bottom centre.
7. MISCELLANEOUS
1. There is no need to start a new paragraph by pressing a tab. The current standard in report
writing is to have no tab.
2. Colours can be used only for the Institute logo, figures, charts and diagrams. Textual colour
should be black.

4. Binding: Spiral Binding

C. Derivations (if any)
