(6) Weight adjustment knob. (7) Adjuster assembly. (8) Shaft. (11) Height adjustment lever.

The suspension of the seat performs three functions:

Height Adjustment

Isolation

The height is determined by angle (A) of housing

assembly (9) relative to arm assembly (3). The
relative angle is determined by the position of pins
(1) in slots (10). When height adjustment lever (11)
is raised, rollers (12) force cam (2) to move relative
to arm assembly (3). This will disengage pins (1)
from slots (10) in arm assembly (3). Pushing down on
the suspension or pulling up on the suspension will
move pins (1) over a set of slots. The top two slots
correspond to the highest height. The middle two
slots correspond to the middle height. The bottom
two slots correspond to the lowest height. Release
height adjustment lever (11) in order to snap the pins
into the slots.

Weight adjustment
Height adjustment

Isolation
When the seat mechanism is operated, pins (1) lock
cam (2) to arm assembly (3). Cam (2) moves on
follower (4), which forces motion of shaft (8) relative
to adjuster assembly (7). This will extend suspension
springs (5) or this will retract suspension springs (5).

Weight Adjustment
Rotating weight adjustment knob (6) will pull adjuster
assembly (7) away from shaft (8) or toward shaft
(8). This will extend suspension springs (5) or this
will retract suspension springs (5). This adjustment
sets the preload on the suspension springs. Heavier
operators will need more preload than lighter
operators.

The suspension of the seat performs several

functions:

Isolation
Automatic Weight Adjustment

Height Adjustment
Connection to the Seat

Isolation and Weight Adjustment

Air bag (5) acts as a spring as the air is compressed
due to the motion of inner scissor arm (9) relative
to lower housing (6). The amount of air that is in
the air bag is determined by the operator. (Refer to
Height Adjustment.) The pressure in the air bag
is determined by the weight of the operator. This
provides automatic weight adjustment.

Damping is provided by shock absorber (11). The

stiffness of the shock absorber may be adjusted by
rotating knob (12). Turn the knob counterclockwise
for more stiffness. Turn the knob clockwise for less
stiffness. The knob does not have much range of
movement.

suspension. Push DOWN on the lever in order to
decrease the damping of the suspension.
Ride Indicator
Ride indicator (13) must be aligned in the green zone
when the machine is not running.

Height Adjustment
Using the Toggle Switch
The height of the seat is determined by the volume
of air in air bag (5). To raise the suspension, the
operator holds toggle switch (2) upward and air
enters air bag (5). To lower the suspension, the
operator pushes down on toggle switch (2) and the
air in air bag (5) is released.
Note: The operator must not change the height of the
suspension so that the stroke is inadequate for the
particular application. The suspension height must be
changed if the seat bottoms out excessively or if the
seat bounces to the maximum height too much.
The UP position of toggle switch (2) completes a 24
volt circuit from harness terminal (1) to compressor
(3). Compressor (3) provides pressurized air to air
bag (5).
The DOWN position of toggle switch (2) completes a
24 volt circuit from harness terminal (1) to solenoid
(4). The solenoid opens an exhaust port for air bag
(5).

Illustration 7

g00883176

The height of the seat is determined by the volume

of air in air bag (5). To raise the suspension, the
operator pushes in air valve knob (16) and air enters
air bag (5). To lower the suspension, the operator
pulls out air valve knob (16) and the air in air bag (5)
is released.
Note: The operator must not change the height of the
suspension so that the stroke is inadequate for the
particular application. The suspension height must be
changed if the seat bottoms out excessively or if the
seat bounces to the maximum height too much.
When air valve knob (16) is pushed in, a 24 volt
circuit to compressor (3) is completed. Compressor
(3) provides pressurized air to air bag (5).
When air valve knob (16) is pulled out, line (15) from
air bag (5) to the exhaust port is opened.

Note: The seat belt has a maximum life of five years.
This date starts on the day of manufacture. See the
attached label that is on the seat belt for the correct
manufactured date. The seat belt has an installed
life of three years. See the installation sticker or the

Note: Check the seat and the seat suspension for
looseness when the machine is serviced. Inspect the
seat at every 1,000 hours of service. Adjust the seat,
as needed.
Note: Use a dry lubricant to reduce wear and
provide smooth operation of seat suspensions. Use
1U-8268 Dry Film Lubricant or use 9U-6331 Dry
Film Lubricant in order to maintain ease of operation.
This is especially important in colder temperatures.
An alternative lubricant is a locally obtained clear
silicone aerosol spray.
