Supporting people affected by conflict to build peace

A Foundation For Peace Event

Rethinking Radicalisation
Thursday 12th February 2015, the third and final workshop of this series.
A fresh look at radicalisationwhat does it mean to you, locally? Whats the impact of
violent extremism and the response to it as we face ISIL and the increasing support of the
Far Right? What can we do about it?
Can we learn from other places and times that have been challenged by radicalisation,
confronted with polarised communities, or had to deal with the impact of conflict back
home and here at home? This workshop will explore whether we can- and what to do
next.
At this event, the first of three workshops looking at these issues, youll have a chance to
have your say, reflecting your experience on how things are now, and what are the next
steps to meet community needs. We will be looking at how we can build a Mancunian
response to these issues from the grass-roots up.
With guest speakers from across the UK, the event will see perspectives and experiences
shared by people who are experts by experience, as well as practice.
Who should attend?
Anyone who has an interest in their communities and in issues affecting us all. From
community workers to community members, from police to local Councillors; this
event aims to bring people together from all sectors and backgrounds. We encourage
those who do not normally engage in large community events to attend as these are
issues affecting people from across society. The workshop is an informal and relaxed
setting designed to enable people to really talk about the thorny issues.
