Statement regarding HLTH 102
The Arts and Science Undergraduate Society (ASUS) is receptive to the concerns that
have been brought to our attention regarding the material presented to the students of
HLTH 102. We concurrently respect the thorough investigation being conducted by the
Provosts office with support of the Faculty of Arts and Science and await their findings.
We believe that academic freedom is a necessity in any environment of higher
education, especially our renowned institution of Queens University. However, the
privilege of academic freedom comes with the imperative responsibility of research
excellence and acknowledgment of biases.
Regardless of the investigations findings, ASUS would like to reaffirm our unwavering
support and solidarity with every student and member of our community who has felt
marginalized by any statements that have been made.
If any student has any further concerns, either academic or personal, that were triggered
by the material of HLTH 102 or any other course, please do not hesitate to reach out to
us. We are always interested in hearing your thoughts, directing you to other resources
when needed, and addressing your issues directly where possible.
We are always here for you.

Any thoughts or concerns can be sent directly to the ASUS President, Adam Grotsky, at
president@asus.queensu.ca.
