Produce Market Report February 10, 2015

Good Buys

Grapefruit: Good supplies

and excellent quality on
Florida grapefruit.

Isnt it great? Peak Florida strawberry season has arrived featuring large, fragrant and sweet berries and
everyone in the Sunshine State is busy picking, packing
and shipping outrageous quality berries this week. We
also have stem berries and heart shaped beets to add
romance to one of the busiest restaurant days of the
year!

GOOD BUY

KEEP IN MIND

Red and yellow

peppers

Grapes: Since the Chilean

production has ramped up, prices
on red and green grapes are down
a bit this week and with
outstanding quality.

Green peppers

WATCH

Zucchini
Avocados
Heirloom baby spinach:
This excellent item arriving
from Arizona would be a great
feature for your Valentines
day dishes.
Red and yellow peppers:
Mexico is shipping large
quantities of red and yellow
peppers at very reasonable
prices. Cool nights and warm
days are ideal growing
conditions for peppers.
Green Peppers: With the full
moon last week, Florida
reported increased
productivity with their pepper
crop. In any case the pricing is
very attractive this week.
Zucchini: We are still getting
favorable rates and perfectly
packed high quality zucchini
from Mexico.

Grapefruit
Honey Tangerines: Heres
an important tip: if you
want some of the sweetest,
Florida citrus this year, order
honey tangerines. Word of
caution: the skin will have a
slight greenish cast to it and
will appear to be somewhat
scarred. That is the nature
of the variety. Dont worry,
after you peel it, you will be
rewarded with the sweetest
tasting tangerine you ever
ate! Good prices now too!
Clementines: Awesome
quality and good pricing now
on gorgeous clementines
from Morocco. We think
they are even better than
the Spanish ones. See what
you think!
Navel oranges and
lemons: Still good prices
and nice quality on citrus out
of California.

Avocados: Smooth, buttery

avocados are flowing in nicely
from Mexico. Pricing is
consistent and the crop is
really nice.
Yellow foot chantrelle
mushrooms: Delicious
mushrooms coming from
Oregon are available.

Mineola Tangelos: Shaped

like a nice orange bell, this
cross between a tangerine
and an orange are very
popular.
Watermelon: Excellent
prices on seedless
watermelon. This is the time
to feature them as your
melon of the month.
