Warm Up
Description:
Exercise 1: Jogging in the specified area. Duration: 2 min. Exercise 2: 10v10 headplay
without goalkeepers. Duration: 2x5 min. Exercise 3: Players perform basic passing drills
and get ready for man to man struggles. Players pass each other with one-touch or
receiving and for the coach sign they make different tasks. For example: Clashing with
shoulder, chest, covering the ball with or without body contact.

Exercise 1:

2v2 Game
Goal: Offensive play: Developing the combination play and cooperation between two
players in attack. Defensive play: Training the cooperation between two players. Pressing
the player in possession, supporting, shifting toward the ball.

Organisation
Players and equipment are arranged as shown. There are 4 rounds to do. Duration: 25
seconds The game always starts for the coach' sign. Take care of extra balls.

Description
Coach starts the play by passing the ball to one of the red players. They make
combinations, wall passes and try to win the man-to-man struggles. They aim to finish the
attack fast. The defenders (white now) defend in cooperation and try to win the ball.
When they intercept the ball they become attackers immediately.

2v2 Soccer Drill

To be able to do this small sided soccer drill successfully games should be played on an
adequate area for different age groups. We always have to consider the players technical
skills and their cognitive abilities. Besides this the quality of the pitch is also very
important. If its necessary we can change the size of the area during the game.

Exercise 2:

10v10 Game for 4 Goals


Goal: Developing combination play under pressure. Training the play on a narrow field.
Practising the building of attacks on the wings in the middle zone.

Organisation
Players and equipment are arranged as shown. Two teams are identified by different
colours. Both teams have two goals on the wings of the field. Goals are specified by
cones, distance 5-6 meters.
Formation: 4-4-1-1

Description
Offensive play: Teams should outplay the opponent by fast, combinational play and
dribble the ball across one of the opponent's two goals. When they change the sides they
try to manage it with fast, short passes instead of long balls. Defensive play: Pressing the
player in possession, supporting, shifting toward the ball, closing in the opponent.
Defending agressively.

10v10 Game for 4 Goals After the white team's 3rd pass, red inside midfielder wins the
ball in fight.

10v10 Game for 4 Goals After intercepting the ball red inside midfielder plays the ball to
the left winger, who makes a tempo pass to the left full back coming from depth. He
dribbles the ball across the goal.

Exercise 3:

10v10 Game
Goal: Developing the combinative play under pressure in scrimmage. Practising the
building of attacks on the wings.

Organisation
Players and equipment are arranged as shown. Cones are used to create a 30-meter
zone in the middle of the field to determine the depth of play. The two teams are identified
by different colours.
Formation: 4-4-1-1

Description
Offensive play: They use fast, combinative attacking play in the central zone with the help
of the wings. When players change the sides they make it with fast, short passes instead
of long balls. Defensive play: Players start defending near the line of the middle zone on
the opponent's side. They attack the wide passes immediately. Players keep the 30
meters depth and they follow the ball with deep and wide movements. By throw in (on
opponent's field) they press the player in possession immediately and after losing the ball
try to win it back as soon as possible.
