RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENT
Your role as Catering Assistant /Barista is to provide friendly, attentive and efficient service to our
valued customers. You are responsible for the delivery of high quality products whilst adhering to the
policies and procedures of Spotless. Your efforts will support the Spotless team and business to
meet and exceed the expectations of our clients and achieve the business objectives of the
organisation.
KEY RESULT AREAS
Coffee preparation
Spotless offer a range of coffees made using an espresso machine.

Machine operation, cleaning and trouble shooting


Maximising sales and to ensure the consistency of Espresso products
Bean quality and grind
Espresso making techniques
Milk and pouring frothing technique
Finished product presentation

Sandwich preparation and service


Spotless offer ready made and / or made to order sandwiches and rolls using the freshest ingredients
and a variety of bread and rolls.

Prepare ingredients for days trade


Ensure ingredients and equipment are at the correct temperature
Stock merchandise counter and display prior to service
Restock pre-made sandwiches during service
Clean and sanitise sandwich preparation area at the end of days trade, ensuring correct storage
of all food items

Operate cash register

Ensure the correct taking of monies and adhere to selling prices.


Follow correct handling procedures
Enter accurate amounts
Correct change counted
Count and reconciliation of float at end of shift, explain any discrepancies

Operate commercial food slicing machine

Ensure the correct safety procedures are adhered to when using machine.
Operate machine following safety guidelines
Slice a range of meat and salad items for days trade
Ensure slicer is cleaned between food items to avoid cross contamination
Ensure slicer is cleaned and sanitised correctly, follow safety procedures in readiness for the next
days usage

Hot counter service

Ensure familiarisation of menu items prior to service


Serve customers and maintain correct portion control
Ensure a high level of customer service and satisfaction
Maintain sufficient levels of menu items throughout the days service times
Adhere to correct holding temperatures and monitor throughout days trade
Clean and sanitise service area and utensils

Storage of food / dry good items

Ensure all food items must be stored to avoid cross contamination using the correct manual
handling technique
Ensure correct rotation of stock
Stock and maintain counter and merchandise set up and display prior to service
Be aware of correct holding temperatures for perishable food items
Notify supervisor of potential low stock items

Clean up and area maintenance:

Ensure all counter area and / or food preparation areas must be cleaned and sanitised at the end
of days trade adhering to food health and safety standards.
Cleaning merchandising coffee stations and drink fridges
Polishing glassware and cutlery
Dishwashing and stacking crockery
Use correct chemicals on food preparation areas and kitchen equipment
Follow cleaning schedule
Maintain clean and sanitised service area and equipment
Sweep and mop floors

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Our catering service operates from our client premises at NAB, North Sydney. The service consists of
a caf environment with hot food & sandwich food offer operating between 6.30am 5.00pm Monday
to Friday excluding public holidays.
INDICATIVE HOURS
This is a 38 hours per week position working Monday to Friday.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
To perform the essential functions of this role, you must be able to stand for the majority of your
working shift, lift and carry food service items, move equipment, load and unload trolleys.
