Position Announcement:
Communications Program Manager
The Bush Foundation is looking for two highly versatile and collaborative communications professionals
to join the Foundations Communications Team and put their skills to use
for a dynamic and mission-driven organization.

Background
The Bush Foundation invests in great ideas and the people who power them. Established in 1953 by 3M
executive Archibald Bush and his wife, Edyth, the Foundation encourages individuals and organizations to
think bigger and think differently about what is possible in communities across Minnesota, North Dakota,
South Dakota and the 23 Native nations that share the same geographic area. Learn more about our work

The Communications Team works to maximize the impact of the Foundations investments by amplifying,
linking and promoting the great ideas and people that weve invested in. The Teams main priorities are to
refine and maintain the Foundations website, to create and deliver amazing events and materials that
introduce and connect leaders in this region to each other and to lift up the projects and people that weve
invested in through a proactive media relations strategy.

The Foundation is in search of two highly versatile and collaborative communications professionals with
excellent writing skills for two Communications Program Manager positions that will divide the following
responsibilities based on qualifications and experience.
Program Communications
Work with Foundation program teams Community Innovation, Leadership Programs, Native
Nations, Education, and Strategy and Learning to develop strategic and tactical communication
plans.
Provide strategic communications consulting and coaching to Foundation staff and its partners to
increase the reach and impact of stories and resources.
Online Engagement
Develop and implement an online engagement strategy to leverage and support the Foundations
work.
Manage existing and develop new online communications channels, including websites and various
social media platforms.
Publications
Produce b Magazine, serving as primary point of contact for contributors, vendors and stakeholders.
Manage production of accurate, engaging collateral to explain, inspire and leverage our programs for
greatest impact.
Media Relations
Support the Teams work in media relations, community engagement and special projects, and
provide backup support for program communications.

Minimum Qualifications
College degree and at least five years experience in public, nonprofit or related private sector fields.
Communicate simply and effectively for a variety of audiences and through a variety of media.
Effectively manage relationships with consultants, contractors and vendors to ensure delivery of highquality, on-budget and timely deliverables.
Develop and use data to assess effectiveness of products and strategy. Share lessons and learnings
internally and externally.
Support special projects and provide backup support for colleagues.
Work closely with teams across the Foundation to ensure that our strategies and tactics are meeting
each teams goals and align with overall the communications plan for each team.
Demonstrate success in previous professional communication roles, including experience with
social media, online engagement and other community engagement projects.
Work in fluid and dynamic settings.
Interpret and apply strategic guidelines with minimal direction.
Demonstrate the interpersonal and project management skills necessary to effectively coordinate work
assignments and relationships across multiple teams.
Effectively communicate and collaborate with people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
Actively demonstrate core organizational values in performing all duties.
Working Conditions
This position exists in a general office environment. Some travel may be required, with occasional
adjustments to the work schedule in order to participate in events or meet priority deadlines.

Exempt
Office environment with occasional travel. Periodic adjustments to work schedule
