By Luis Villagrana
The Tarkio FCCLA
group got an opportunity to
attend the FCCLA Regional
Meeting at Northwest
Missouri Performance Art
Center on October 22, 2014.
The speaker Rick Minnifield
gave a very strong message
with much enthusiasm. He
seems to influence a large
amount of people to keep
their heads up and reach
for higher goals. After the
regional meeting all 32
members of the Tarkio

FCCLA hosts Pink Out Night

February 8-14, 2015

By Bree Barnett
Tarkio High School Pink
Out Night was held October
7, 2014. All the proceeds we
made we decided to donate
to two local women in our
community who had recently
been diagnosed with cancer.
The women we selected to
give the money to were Nancy

FCCLA members, and Cheryl

Freeman, a local librarian
who had been plagued with
full body cancer.
We had lots of different
festivities that happened
that night to include: a bake
sale, a silent auction where
we auctioned off lots of
items, and had the American
Cancer Society Relay for Life
Specialist Tammi Brundidge
speak about the American
Cancer Society. She gave
handouts to all cancer
fighters and survivors that
were present at the game.
The whole night was planned
by Shelby McCartney and
myself, Bree Barnett. That
night we raised $1,400. This
meant that Nancy and Cheryl
each received about $700
for medical expenses, gas to
and from the hospital, and
any other ways the money
would help.
To make the gym look
Pinked Out we put up pink
streamers, pink bows on
the scorers table, pink table
cloths to look like curtains
in the doorways, posters
promoting pink out and
showing our school Pink Out
spirit, and posters for all the
game goers to sign and give
to Nancy and Cheryl to help
brighten their day. Shelby
and Bree decided to plan
the schools Pink Out and
compete at Regionals with it
as a STAR Event.
