Sidereal Time :
Sidereal time is derived form the earths rotation with respect to the stars. Sidereal day as the time takes by
earth to rotate once on its axis with reference to any fixed star. This duration of sidereal day is equal to 23
hours 56 minutes(approximately) or 23 hrs 56 min 4.091 sec. of mean solar day.
In astronomical terminology the sidereal time is defined to be the west hour angle of the Vernal Equinoctial
point or the first Sayana mesh from the upper meridian of the palce.
As the Lagna or ascendant or the sign of zodiac rising on the eastern horizon of a place at any time is
dependent on the rotation of the earth on its axis due to which the time system known as sidereal Time is
also created. so it becomes evident that the rising sign or the Lagna, inturn , is dependent on the Sidereal
Time of the place at the given moment or epoch.
