the introductory part. My supervisor introduced me with his team members and they
welcomed me with their team. From the first day I have come to know that this bank
basically have three departments and they are General Banking, Credit & Clearing and Cash
Counter.
The officers of this department were very helpful and gave me some ideas about the activities
of this department. This department is responsible for opening of the bank accounts (Current
accounts, saving accounts etc.), provide pay orders to the customer according to their needs,
collect the cheques, providing cheque books to the customers, keep necessary records of the
transactions, receive the letters of the other departments and keep documents of each letters,
providing debit cards, foreign remittance service etc.
While working in this department, I have learned a lot about the customer services. I have
learned that this bank has an aim to provide the customers the best and the fast services. The
officials of this bank do not like to keep customer wait. One of the Senior Executive guided
me how to update form such as Savings accounts, current accounts, FDR etc and how to give
seal on the required place. After getting her guidance I have updated lots of forms and sealed
them. Its a regular task that I have to do in almost every day and I have done this task on the
whole week. My working days are five days which is Sunday to Thursday.
Week 2 (21st September to 25th September): The major task of General Banking is opening
the bank accounts. They provide account opening forms for the different types of accounts.
To open a savings and other accounts, it requires 2 copies of passport size photo of the
account holder and one copy of passport size photo of the nominee. The photocopy of the
National ID of both account holders and nominees is required during opening the accounts. In
the case of current account, if the account is for a company, it is required to provide the
photocopy of the trade license of the company. SEB provide some other deposit schemes
such as FDR (Fixed Deposit Receipt), MSS (Monthly savings skim), PSS (Pension saving
skim), etc.
SMS and Internet banking service: SEB also provide SMS and Internet Banking service.
To get this service, customers need to fill a form and provide their account number, mail
address and the contact number. After fulfilling all requirements the General Banking
Department send the information to the head office. Then the customer gets a confirmation
through text message or mail.

Prize bond buy and sale (Cash counter): One piece of prize bond is equal to 100 taka.
Buying and selling process is quite same and the path is also same for prize bond. Necessary
information such as code, amount, narration etc needs to give. Credit is selected for selling
process and debit is selected for buying process.
Voucher sorting on Clearing: To do this, one day transaction and the other documents such
as cheque, deposit slips etc have been taken. On the one day transaction profile, the accounts
number (sometimes with the A/C holder name) and amount of money have been marked.
After that each of the pages gets three round seal and send to the voucher box after get signed
by the officer. This task has been done at the end of the day, normally after when the bank has
been done with all the transactions.
contains Accounts information. SBS2 has been done to check the customer information three
times in a year.
Clearing: I have learned several process of clearing such as clear a check, EFTN etc. EFTN
is two types. One is inward when bank gets money and other is outward when bank have to
pay. To clear a cheque, bank has to give the date at first. Then, officer need to scan the cheque
and needs to send report to the Bangladesh Bank. After that the balancing has been done.
Other activities I get to learn are audit trail, voucher sorting, clearing cheque preparation for
house etc.
