Michael Jackson
Michael Joseph Jackson was born on August 29, 1958. He was the eighth of ten children
in an African-American family who lived in Gary, Indiana. His mother, Katherine Esther
Scruse, was a devout Jehovah's Witness and His father, Joseph Walter "Joe" Jackson, a
former boxer, was a steelworker at U.S. Steel. Michael grew up with three sisters and five
brothers.
Jackson had a troubled relationship with his father, Joe. Jackson stated that he was
physically and emotionally abused, though he also credited his father's strict discipline
with playing a large role in his success.
Michael and Marlon joined the Jackson Brothersa band formed by their father and
which included their brothers. Jackson began sharing lead vocals with his older brother
Jermaine, and the group's name was changed to The Jackson 5.
That following year, the group won a major local talent show with Jackson performing
James Brown's "I Got You".
At the age of 13, Jackson launched a solo career in addition to his work with the Jackson
5. He made the charts in 1971 with "Got to Be There" from the album of the same

Lawyers for a 13-year-old boy filed a civil suit against Jackson for seduction and sexual abuse.
He responded to the allegations via satellite from his Neverland compound that he is tottaly
innocent of any wrongdoings. He settled out of court for an undisclosed sum, claimed to be as
high as 22 million dollars.
After this, Jackson was booked on suspicion of child molestation. A grand jury indicted
him on four counts of lewd conduct with a child youner than 14 and other charges. He
was found not guilty after a three-and-a-half-month trial.
Like many patients, Jackson sought to hide his cosmetic surgery from the public. They
were done in the evening when personnel had to come in so no one else in the office

could see him going in or out. Eventually, the surgeries took a toll on his face. He has
barely anything left for a nose because he was operated on repeatedly
Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009, in his bed, at his mansion in Los Angeles.
Speaking on behalf of the Jackson family, Jermaine said doctors had tried to resuscitate
the star for more than an hour without success, he also stated that Jackson was believed to
have suffered a cardiac arrest.
On the day he died, Dr. Conrad Murray used a cocktail of drugs on Michael Jackson as he
struggled to fall asleep, and ultimately caused his death.
On that day happened a huge traffic jam on the streets of Los Angeles, and web sites such
as Wikipedia, Tweeter and Google had collapsed. His influence on pop culture and music
in general was huge, since he sold four platinum albums and influenced many musicians
after him.
