Bowdoin Student Government, convened in General Assembly

WHEREAS, the Wall Street Journal has been a commonly requested item of the Bowdoin College student
body;

WHEREAS, providing the Wall Street Journal will increase student's access to business news, which is especially
important since a significant portion of classes enter business and finance realms after graduation;

WHEREAS, the Wall Street Journal will increase the quality of the newspapers provided by Bowdoin, by
ensuring information that express both sides of the political spectrum, at a reasonable cost to the Bowdoin
Student Government;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT

ESOLVED, That the members of Bowdoin Student Government, convened in General Assembly

Authorize the expenditure of $300.00 to provide the Wall Street Journal to the Bowdoin student body for
the spring semester of 2015.

WHEREAS, Uncommon Hour, a professor-lecture series brought by the Committee on Student Activities, was
a well-attended and successful BSG event over the past semester;

WHEREAS, Among the biggest factors contributing to its success was the advertising for the events and the food
provided at the lectures;

WHEREAS, Our operating budget includes a line-item for this service;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT

ESOLVED, That the members of Bowdoin Student Government, convened in General Assembly

Authorize the expenditure of $100.00 for the Uncommon Hour lecture on February 20, 2015 for food
and advertising.

FUNDING FOR WINTER WEEKEND 2015
Bowdoin Student Government, convened in General Assembly

WHEREAS, Winter Weekend, a three-day celebration of Maine's colder months, dates back to the fraternity
Christmas House Parties from as early as the 1920s;

WHEREAS, Bowdoin Student Government and the Entertainment Board successfully revived this festive
Bowdoin tradition in 2013;

WHEREAS, The Schedule of events will result in the cooperation of this Assembly with Athletics, the InterHouse Council, the Entertainment Board, and the College Houses (see Appendix A);

WHEREAS, Our operating budget includes line-items for Winter Weekend events;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT

ESOLVED, That the members of Bowdoin Student Government, convened in General Assembly

Authorize the expenditures for Winter Weekend 2015 as follows:


- Advertising: $200.00
-Hot Drinks and Smores on the Quad $350.00
- Pedro O'Haras (Ladd House Blizzard Bash and Polar Bear Run): $1250.00
- Cups (to give away at Blizzard Bash): $300.00
Total: $2100.00

FUNDING FOR ATHLETIC COUNCILS WINTER WEEKEND 2015
Bowdoin Student Government, convened in General Assembly

WHEREAS, The Athletic Council has two events that will correspond with Bowdoin Student Governments
Winter Weekend 2015, including a white-out for Mens Basketball game and another Chuck-A-Puck
event at the Mens Hockey game;

WHEREAS, These events have been very successful in the past in rallying school support for its athletic teams as
well as raising money for a charity of the Athletic Councils choice;

WHEREAS, The popularity of these events is completely dependent on their advertising;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT

ESOLVED, That the members of Bowdoin Student Government, convened in General Assembly

1. Authorize the expenditure of $30.00 to the Athletic Council for advertising costs for their Winter
Weekend events.
