Hi Joe,
You and I are both professional journalists with resumes that include real, revenue-generating news organizations. That means I
know you know what it means when I say everything in this message is off the record and not for publication. It's my experience that
two competent guys about the same age in this business will eventually find themselves working with one another. That's why I am
responding to your message.
Though I enjoy RealHoboken and your contributions to it, I'm not sure why you would think anyone with a better-than-awful
relationship with Perry Klaussen would participate in an article that you are writing about his site. No offense, but everything I have
ever read that you have written about Hoboken411 has been mean spirited and one sided. I don't pretend to know what's made you
so angry at the guy, but to a reader like me it tends to come across as overkill.
If you were writing an article about, say, people in the news media who live in Hoboken, or new dads who never expected to have a
baby when they bought a downtown fifth floor walk-up condo, then I'd be happy to participate. Since this is a story about 411, I really
don't care to comment one way or the other. Even that, however, is on background and for your eyes only.
By the way, after working for Roger Ailes at CNBC I have many friends at FNC and FBC. Between you and I there's a very strong
possibility that I'll be part of the News Corp family myself before the year is out, so I hope you will respect my position on this and
keep my reply to you in confidence.
Thanks. Hope to meet you someday soon.
Lane
