Calling it quits (for an hour or two)

This was the scene on Saturday, February 28th up on

Flat Lake where all the anglers we talked to coming off
the ice admitted Its pretty slow... couple of northerns.
Some of them were coming off the ice to attend
an afternoon fish fry at the Fort Peck Marina before
returning for the evening bite. If youre heading out
fishing, dont forget: new fishing licenses are needed
as the 2014 ones expired on Saturday. Montanas 2015
hunting and fishing licensesincluding conservation,

fishing, spring black bear and turkey, upland game

bird, deer and elk hunting licensesare available
now at all Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks offices and
license providers. Spring turkey permit applications
have a deadline of Thursday, March 5th. There is a
$5 application fee and applicants must have a 2015
conservation license to be eligible to apply. Montanas
spring male turkey hunting season begins April 11th
this year.

AR-15s in Obamas scope

As promised, President Obama is using executive
actions to impose gun control on the nation, targeting
the top-selling rifle in the country, the AR-15 style
semi-automatic, with a ban on one of the most-used
AR bullets by sportsmen and target shooters.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms has
revealed that it is proposing to put the ban on 5.56 mm
ammo on a fast track, immediately driving up the price
of the bullets and prompting retailers to urge sportsmen
to urge Congress to stop the president.

Pitching Progress

Former Weber State softball pitcher Angela Smith helps

Lylie Foster with her grip at a fast-pitch softball clinic this
past Friday and Saturday at the Glasgow High School.
Nearly twenty young ladies spent time with Angela to
improve their pitching skills. Those attending the two day
clinic felt that it was highly successful. All of the participants
gained confidence in their skills and came away with a
greater understanding of how to be a successful pitcher.
Indeed, spring sports are just around the corner. First day
of practice for softball, golf and track & field is on Monday,
March 9th. Well have to see how the weather cooperates
as the first softball game is scheduled for Thursday, March
26th as the Scotties host the Glendive Red Devils. The
first track & field meet is scheduled to be hosted by the
Scotties on Saturday, March 28th. And the first golf meet is
the Forsyth Invite on Tuesday, April 7th.
