BATTLE OF THE DECADES SATURDAY 28TH FEBRUARY 2015

Last Saturday we saw the first hump week tournament held at Alvarados a Battle of the Decades tag team
Holdem event with the Steve Bloomer Memorial Shield up for grabs. Teams covering a variety of decades
were entered, and the competition was fierce and enjoyable.
The overall winners were DARREN AITCHISON & SCOTT VERTOGEN, representing the 1980s, who made a
triumphant comeback from a near exit in the early levels. Runners up were RAQUEL GRAY & JARROD
BEATON of the 1970s, and third place were DAMIEN ASHBY & MICHAEL HAWKER of the 1980s.
NEW VENUESAND THE BATTLE OF THE VENUES
Last month we started running an array of new games at venues across Canterbury. Our aim was to target
areas that lacked NPPL coverage and to provide our players with some options. We are forever looking to
fine-tune our timetable and ask that you support the new venues in the hopes of securing future games at
these. A reminder that this season, the top 4 players at each venue will earn a special ticket for a special
freeroll team event Battle of the Venues. This will be held in the break between the end of Season 2 and
the regional finals.
Each team will have four representatives earning points. The winner of the tournament will receive the most
points, down to the first player out who will receive the least. The team with the largest total will win prize
money and the title of Best Venue of Canterbury Season 2, 2015. The top individual 3 players on the day
shall also receive cash prizes. Add-ons will be available at the break and will help to build onto the initial
prize pool of $1000.
