Position Summary:
The Energy Engineer is an instrumental member of the Project Execution team
through investigating the business potential and viability of energy related projects
and leading in their implementation. The Energy Engineer will also support and
improve current analytical processes to assist in project development and customer
understanding.
Responsibilities:

Develop and use analytical models to predict operational behavior from


historical usage.

Work with operations team to ensure successful deployment of new process


and products. Monitor processes after deployment and provide
recommendations for improving efficiency.

Perform ASHRAE level I and II energy audits. Covered systems include but
are not limited to lighting, HVAC, compressed air, steam, process water,
cooling systems, refrigeration, and power systems.

Utilize existing building modelling software for rebates and savings estimates
such as Energy Plus and eQuest.

Assist in the evaluation of new energy saving technologies.

Develop and review technical specifications for selected projects for purposes
of material procurement and sub-contractor selection. Specifications include
items such as permissible installation guidelines, material of construction,
control philosophy, minimum safety requirements, and specific components.

Identify and help to manage key technical risks for projects.

Create bid documents, budgets, and timelines for projects.

Review installations for completeness and compliance with specifications.

Set up and perform measurement and verification.

Remain current on energy conservation measures, standards, technologies


and incentives.

Qualifications:
Knowledge & Skill Requirements:

Working knowledge of energy efficiency measures and technologies.

Strong understanding of engineering first principles and systems.

Proficient in Excel, CAD, building modeling software, and basic programing


(not language specific).

Meticulous attention to detail.

Strong understand of the first and second law of thermodynamics a plus

Education & Experience Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.

1-3 years of experience in engineering related field including energy efficiency


applications.

Proficiency with large data sets and interpreting experimental results.

specializing in energy conservation and sustainable design, collaborating with A/E teams
on commercial and institutional building projects of all types and sizes.
The Weidt Group has a strong base of analysis and research projects for universities,
utilities, architectural firms, research organizations and building product manufacturers. We
are currently seeking an Energy Engineer to join our innovative and creative Energy team
in Minnetonka, MN. This position will be responsible for the following:

Work with building owners, architects and engineers to understand their energy
conservation goals

Perform field energy audits including field observations, energy efficiency


measures evaluations, and write reports

Perform field retro-commissioning

Manage design and construction projects

Manage a portfolio of projects

Guide teams toward energy conservation decisions
