January 30, 1956 Dear Mrs, Panne! When Commander Beach and I set out on our visit to Sweet Briar, I can assure you we had no idea of the wonderful hospitality we would be accorded. We couldn't have asked for greater cooperation or help- fulnes: and the lunch which you were kind enough to give us would be a highlight of any visit, Aside from being successful officially, my visit added to the fine things I already had heard about Sweet Briar. With many thanks and with best wishes, Sincerely, A, J, Goodpaster Colonel, CE, US Army Dr. Anne Gary Pannell President, Sweet Briar College Sweet Briar, Virginia SWEET BRIAR COLLEGE Phone (from Washington, Ds Cs) - Sweet Briar 333 Phone (1eeal circuit fron Lynchburg, Vas) ~ Anherst 3h22 President - lirs.
