Electric Field Mapping

Essence
In this lab we discussed about the production of electric fields in the
space between charged particles. The purpose of this lab is to place
different charged particles and to observe electric field produced
between that particles. Electric field lines are always perpendicular to
the surface while the direction of electric field lines is always from
positive to negative. TO do an experiment, a piece of paper is dipped
in water in a tray with two metal objects on paper. After that a 10 volt
battery is applied on the terminals of the tray until it will dry the paper
and electric field is produced. This process is repeated for many times
and each time with different cylinder of different ring.
Analysis
From the experiment done in this lab, we observed the direction of
electric field lines for different cylinders and its behavior. It is observed
that electric field lines are always perpendicular to surface. It is also
observed that electric field lines always flow from positive charged
particles towards negative charged particles. The density of electric
field lines depends on the number of lines passing through in it. In this

lab, we discussed the behavior of electric field lines for cylindrical,

hollow cylindrical and rectangular shaped conductor.

Conclusion
It is concluded that an electric field is produced in space whenever two
charged particles are placed together with each other. Greater the
number of electric field lines passing through it, greater will be the
intensity of electric field produced between charged particles. It is also
concluded

that

perpendicular to the surface of the charged particles.

Expansion
When battery is connected with the terminal of conductor and switch is
turned on, electric field lines travel from positive charged particle
towards negative charged particle. It is also examined that electric
field lines produced due to cylinder are perpendicular to the equilateral
surface of the cylinder. When the electrodes used in this lab are
changed, the density of electric field fields also changes because it
depends on the type of conductor used in this lab.
