Become a St John volunteer
its more than first aid

What do St John volunteers do?

Attend community events
Our First Aid Services volunteers, in their familiar black and
white uniforms, provide first aid coverage at community
events.

The Ekka, State of Origin, Australia Day celebrations,

camp drafts, regional shows, BMX, local events in rural
areas and ANZAC Day services are just a few of the major
events attended by volunteers to provide vital first aid and
reassurance. But just as important are the local sporting
events such as little athletics, football matches, pony clubs
and school fetes.

As a First Aid Services volunteer

with St John youll be presented with
a diverse range of opportunities.
Youll benefit from our skills maintenance program that
includes advanced resuscitation, natural disaster relief
work as well as nationally recognised leadership and
management training.
These qualifications can also be used to enhance your
career. Most training is nationally recognised and can be
used as entry into many careers including workplace first aid
training or emergency services employment possibilities.
To be a valued St John Ambulance volunteer all you need
is commitment, compassion and a few hours each week.
If you want to become a First Aid Services volunteer you
must have, or be willing to obtain, a current Apply First Aid
certificate. You will also need to be eligible for a Queensland
Government Blue Card.

St John volunteers
are ordinary people
doing extraordinary things...

Its not all about saving lives

St John Ambulance volunteers
apply skills across many
different areas

Could you save a life?

What would you do if a stranger collapsed next to you and
had stopped breathing? Would you know what to do? As a
St John Ambulance volunteer you would.
For more than 125 years St John Ambulance (Qld) first aid
volunteers have been first on the scene and have saved many
lives. Our uniformed volunteers provide reassurance and
first aid assistance at community and sporting events, music
festivals, cultural activities and major public functions.

...if you like to mix with the crowd and be in the heart of the
action then a St John First Responder is the ideal role for you.

What makes St John volunteers unique is that they are ordinary

people from differing backgrounds and professions who do the
extraordinary by reaching out to those in need.

With the Bicycle Emergency Response Team, you can

combine your volunteer interest with your love of bike riding.

St John volunteers are fully trained in areas as diverse as counter

disaster, advanced first aid, defibrillation, radio communication,
asthma management, and leadership - and not all jobs involve
treating patients...
