Singapores unique characteristics and highly accessible infrastructure make it one of the best places to
study and work in Asia. Aiming to be the educational hub and global schoolhouse of the region, this
multi-cultural country provides you with an exciting platform for personal growth, professional
fulfillment and cross cultural interaction. Living conditions in Singapore are among the best in Asia, with
state-of-the-art facilities for education, shopping, sports and recreation.
Singapore offers the best of both worlds. It is cosmopolitan enough to be familiar, yet sufficiently exotic
to inspire a walk on the wild side. The city fuses modernity and tradition, with both celebrated in equal
parts.
Singapore is a distinctive place. With a total land area of just 646 square kilometers, it is a compact
country brimming with the vibrancy of its 4.8 million people.

Our teaching staff is dedicated, experienced and highly qualified. Innovative teaching styles coupled
with state-of-the-art teaching technologies are fundamental to the James Cook University education
philosophy.
Employability Skills
At JCU Singapore, we are ever ready to help prepare our graduating students for the work force. We
provide activities such as workshops on preparing and handling interviews, the art of resume writing
and job applications and an annual career fair, which aims to match graduates with prospective employers.
The university also organizes alumni functions to build up networking opportunity among students and
alumni.

Library
All our international students enjoy a free 1-year membership with the National Library Board (NLB) of
Singapore. The NLB has 19 public libraries spread throughout Singapore. In addition we have our own
library which provides you with access to more than 3,000 reference books. And our library is connected
to JCU Australia libraries providing you with access to a multitude of e-journals and online publications
through the library web portal.
Computing Services
Our campus has been designed as a wireless environment which gives you access to the cyber world at
any time, any place within the compound. In addition, if you are a full fee paying student and enrolled for
more than one semester you will be provided with a free laptop as a study aid. It's easier than ever for you
to access your accounts and get on with the business of learning.
13
Student Lockers
There are lockers of various sizes available (on a rental basis) for your use. Please see our library staff when
you arrive if you are interested in the long or short term rental of a locker.
Accommodation Services
Our accommodation service provides assistance and advice to help you understand your accommodation
options. On arrival most students choose to stay in an off campus student hostel (which we arrange) while
they consider their long term requirements. The choice is always yours but a student hostel does provide
a good level of accommodation at a reasonable cost and gives you the time you need to make a well
informed decision on long term accommodation.
Orientation
An orientation program for all new students occurs in the week prior to the commencement of your first
semester. This comprehensive program includes information about enrollment, important administrative
procedures and familiarisation with campus facilities and services.

JCU Singapore is EduTrust Certified. The EduTrust certification scheme is administered by the Council for Private Education (CPE), a statutory board formed in 2009. EduTrust requires all
students to be covered under a Fee Protection Scheme. In JCU Singapore, this is provided through an insurance protection scheme. Further, EduTrust also requires that the students must be
covered under a medical insurance coverage which has provision for hospitalisation, surgery and treatment costs throughout their course duration. JCU Singapore will advise in the Standard
Student Contract the total amount of insurance payable.
