The Stupendous Spy-Man

EXT. FOREST ALLEYWAY -- DAY/UNSPECIFIED


ESTABLISHING SHOT, LIT.
A teenage male in fairly casual wear strides through a
wide opening pathway surrounded by thick foliage, blocking
most light. JEREMIAH JONES JAMESON (JEREMY for short). Our
hero - in the flesh.
Nothing seems major on his mind. He strides the path
holding a phone in his hand.
FOCUS ON: PHONE.
JEREMY is on an application previewing lots of GIFs and
IMAGES of CATS. He swipes with his thumb and enlarges one
of the images. It is a GIF of a CAT falling off a table.
L/A REACTION.
JEREMY chuckles to himself - approving of the moving
image. Suddenly a figure walks past him and hits his
shoulder, pushing him out of frame, also dropping his
phone. We see the phone smash onto the ground. JEREMY
reacts and turns around with haste.
JEREMY
Hey man - what the hell?
The COATED FIGURE does not bat interest and continues
walking the opposite direction with its hands in its
pockets.
JEREMY raises an eyebrow and begins pacing towards it.
JEREMY
Excuse me?
JEREMY takes a knee and grabs a ROCK and plants it in his
fist. He raises and throws it slightly in his hand and
catches it before going for a long throw and landing it on
the COATED FIGUREs body. It stops. JEREMY smirks.
CAMERA BEGINS TO BECOME MORE HANDHELD - SIMULATING RISING
TENSION.
JEREMY begins to scorn the figure as he increases in speed
towards him.
JEREMY
I believe you owe me a new phone
sir, and I believe you owe
yourself some functioning ears!
The COATED FIGURE approaches him fast and raises his arm
before lunging it into JEREMYs abdomen. A slicing sound
of torn flesh echoes the alleyway. JEREMY gasps for air,

falling slightly onto the COATED FIGUREs shoulder. He


continues to struggle for air before falling down after
the COATED FIGURE lunges his weapon out of our heros
stomach. The light shines upon the BLOODY KNIFE.
All sound drones out.
Beat.
JEREMY falls to the grit floor hard on the side of his
face. His eyes cold. Out of focus - we see the the COATED
FIGURE running away out of shot. JEREMY exhales hard,
fading into the cut.
CUT TO BLACK.
WE HOLD ON BLACK FOR THE COMING SECONDS. THE EERIE DRONE
PULSES THROUGHOUT INTO THE NEXT SHOT.
INT. BEDROOM -- UNSPECIFIED
JEREMYS FACE IS PARALLEL WITH THE SHOT PREVIOUS, HOWEVER
HORIZONTALLY DIFFERENT.
JEREMY lies in-between two thick pillows on a bed in an
unspecified location. Muffled voices and beeps are heard
all around hinting at a hospital setting. His eyes are
cold, yet he is obviously alive and slowly blinking.
INT. DINING ROOM, HOME -- DAY
THE SAME PARALLEL EDITING OCCURS AGAIN.
The cold drone sound begins to cut off as JEREMY sits at a
dining room table. His hands lay flat on the table top as
we slowly enhance on his face, establishing similar
emotions.
Suddenly a bowl appears on the side of the screen, cutting
out all previous sound and unmuffling any treble reduced
sound before. JEREMY notices the bowl and snaps out of his
idleness. The bowl and its hands around it manoeuvre its
needed attention.
JEREMY
(Dry)
Right - sorry.
He reaches for the bowl however it is placed in front of
him before he can. It clanks hard on the table - this
disgruntles JEREMY.
MOTHER
Come on, you need to eat.

(CONTINUED)

JEREMY acknowledges the comment however proceeds to pick


up the spoon and stare hard at it. His MOTHER begins to
nag on and muffle out as we focus hard on JEREMYs
uninterested eyes. Slowly the muffles become a little
clearer.
MOTHER
Jeremy.
The sound cuts back in - very clear.
MOTHER
(contd)
Jeremy!
JEREMY drops the spoon in surprise and it hits hard on the
table.
OTS: JEREMYS SHOULDER, FOCUS ON MOTHER.
She exhales and rolls her eyes. She wears washing up
gloves.
MOTHER
(Sarcastic)
Honestly, I dont know why you
got yourself into this mess. I
have no idea what you think you
were doing - youre not a
superhero.
She chuckles motherly and proceeds into the next room.
R/S ON JEREMY: DEEP FOCUS.
CUE: LOADED - PRIMAL SCREAM
We warp-stabilise across the table enhancing on JEREMYs
face for a number of seconds. He is thinking hard about
what his MOTHER said. It almost echoes in his mind, yet we
hear nothing. As the song reaches its peak, editing cues
cut between numerous shots.
INT. BEDROOM/OFFICE -- UNSPECIFIED
JEREMY runs and jumps onto his study chair and opens up
the lid of a laptop.
PANNING SHOTS OF HIM TYPING AND THE FILTERED F.X LAPTOP
SCREEN OCCUR WITH TITLE CREDITS IN EACH ONE. (POST).
He types in on the screen masks and balaclavas on
amazon and constantly scrolls through hundreds of search
results. Constant switches in shot to reaction shots. He
opens a new tab and a cat picture comes up. He chuckles
and points to the screen with glee.

CUE: MONTAGE OF NUMEROUS SHOTS EACH WRITTEN BELOW IN


UN-SPECIFIED ORDER.
INT. GARAGE -- UNSPECIFIED
In these shots we see JEREMY doing numerous fitness tasks.
The garage is rusty, lined with ladders and unused
furniture. Alcohol bottles line up on the left hand side
and towards the back - a door is seen with a lifting pole
between its hinges. JEREMY pulls himself up on the pole,
revealing bruises on his arms. In other shots he lifts
unspecified hand weights.
INT. HALLWAY, HOUSE -- DAY/NIGHT
In this sequence we see a semi-timelapse of JEREMY sitting
crosslegged in front of a closed door. He checks his phone
occasionally to a screen of the mask with text
establishing it has dispatched.
EXT. ROAD -- DAY
TRACKING: JEREMY
This sequence involves JEREMY running down the side of a
road while we horizontally follow him as he gains speed.
OPENING CREDIT TEXT WILL TRACK AT SAME SPEED.
INT. KITCHEN OVEN -- UNSPECIFIED
CAMERA PLACED DIRECTLY ABOVE FRYING PAN.
JEREMY cracks eggs over the pan and watches them fry. This
is used mainly as a device to convey more opening credits.
INT. BEDROOM -- UNSPECIFIED
The music cuts out slowly to JEREMY lying down on a bed
reading from a book. Orange light covers the room as the
sun obviously sets.
Suddenly there is a knock at the door a floor down.
JEREMYs eyes light up as he raises his head from the
book.
INT. HALLWAY, HOUSE -- UNSPECIFIED
JEREMY opens the door with haste, revealing a man in a cap
with a parcel in his hand.
R/S: JEREMY.
JEREMY gasps with glee as we enhance on his face.
MOTION BLUR TO THE RIGHT. CUE LOADED - PRIMAL SCREAM
CONTINUATION.

JEREMYs phone slides up onto screen as he types ITS
HERE
INT. OTHER BEDROOM, OTHER HOUSE -- DAY
A phone sits on the window sill and vibrates. A hand grabs
it and reads the message. Its from JEREMY. The hand goes
to reach for the curtains and pulls them apart, revealing
JEREMY on the driveway.
SHOT REVERSE SHOT.
EXT. DRIVEWAY, OUTSIDE OTHER HOUSE --
OTS: JEREMY
We see NEV in his bedroom window, waving out, signalling
JEREMY to enter the house.
INT. NEVS KITCHEN --
MUSIC ONCE AGAIN FADES OUT.
In this series of shots, we have fast paced and
over-dramatic sequences of glasses being placed onto
counters, taps filling water and them being placed in
front of an empty seat and NEV. (Cinematographer at time
will elaborate!)
Beat.
NEV raises his eyes and his jaw drops.
TRACKING SHOT: JEREMY
JEREMY begins to stride down the stairs every so slowly,
revealing a blue mask with a blue tight suit with skinny
jeans. He lifts his arms as if to ask for advice.
R/S: NEV.
Tears almost filling eyes, he takes a gulp of air and
places his hands together in a prayer fashion and rests
them against his face. He thinks. He then clicks his
fingers.
NEV
Iv got it.
He reaches for a FEDORA and picks it up with haste,
throwing it towards JEREMY, who remains ascended upon the
stairs.
MOTION BLUR IN DIRECTION WITH FEDORA.
JEREMY catches it swiftly and places it in both hands.
INTENSE C/U: JEREMY
(CONTINUED)

His eyes remain low as the FEDORA rises and he places it


firmly upon his cowled head. His eyes look directly in
lens. He sniffs and rolls his eyes and finally exhales
into black.
CUT TO BLACK.
EXT. FOREST ALLEYWAY -- NIGHT
We return to where it all began. An ill wind blows and the
leaves rustle.
ESTABLISHING SHOT.
Beat.
Suddenly a figure walks past the frame and we swoosh to
track it. Its the COATED FIGURE. The leaves rustle and he
stops and looks over his shoulder before shaking it off
and continuing walking.
He paces fast down the shrouded path before stopping dead.
A cough is heard. The COATED FIGURE tilts his head
slightly and repositions his upper torso. Elegant
footsteps are heard ascending the path behind him. We
cant see him, but its him. The SPY-MAN.
SPY-MAN
You know - hiding wont save you.
The COATED FIGURE chuckles under his breath.
COATED FIGURE
You dont know what youre
dealing with kiddo.
The COATED FIGURE turns to face the SPY-MAN in the flesh,
he smirks.
SPY-MAN
Oh - I think I do.
Beat.
CUE FIGHT SEQUENCE TRACK.
The HOODED FIGURE yanks out a cane from its thick coat
and starts swaying it towards SPY-MAN. SPY-MAN ducks and
swerves from every attack. He jumps back up as the HOODED
FIGURE goes in with the cane for a facial jab. The SPY-MAN
catches the jab before hitting his face with his wrists.
R/S: SPY-MAN.
He exhales from the close save and drops his wrists and
grabs the other end of the cane and swerves it around,
pulling the HOODED FIGURE around with it before hitting a

small wall, winding the HOODED FIGURE. The SPY-MAN


chuckles, brushing off his shoulders and pacing towards
the HOODED FIGURE. WHOOSH! The HOODED FIGURE goes in for a
right swing across the SPY-MANs face. He goes in for
another swing and lands it across the other side, forcing
the SPY-MAN back. He then kicks the SPY-MAN however he
just misses as the SPY-MAN moves to the left. The SPY-MAN
grabs him by the coat and slams him against a tree and
begins punching his stomach over and over before he
eventually ducks down and the SPY-MAN hits the tree with
his fist. He yells in pain as his fist becomes lined with
blood. As he stares at his broken fist, a cane swings fast
and hits the SPY-MAN hard. He falls to his knees, spitting
out blood, before being kicked further into the road by
the HOODED FIGURE. He rolls onto his back.
COATED FIGURE
(Out of breath)
Its over chum, I told you that
you dont know what youre
dealing with!
BANG!
R/S: COATED FIGURE.
Its body jolts and slowly stumbles back.
We see the SPY-MAN with a revolver, aiming straight down
the barrel to the COATED FIGUREs legs/lower abdomen. The
COATED FIGURE rests against a wall, out of breath as the
SPY-MEN gets onto his feet and starts striding towards him
with the gun in his hand. The COATED FIGURE moves his arm
slightly to try and reach the cane however the SPY-MAN
hits him around the face with the handle of the gun,
causing blood to be spat out swiftly.
SPY-MAN gets on his knees up real close to the COATED
FIGURES face.
SPY-MAN
You will apologise - for this
broken phone!
The SPY-MAN reaches and displays a broken phone from the
first sequence. It comes into focus. The COATED FIGURE
remains out of breath before looking the SPY-MAN dead in
the eyes.
COATED FIGURE
(Weak)
Thats an iPod.
SPY-MAN raises an eyebrow, exhaling.

SPY-MAN
Wha.. what?
COATED FIGURE
Thats not a phone, thats an
iPod.
SPY-MAN exhales hard out of his nose and raises his arm.
EXTREME LONG SHOT.
We see our two characters in the same place however from a
different position and slightly out of focus. SPY-MAN
raises his arm and begins slamming the gun handle into the
COATED FIGURES face over and over. We remain focus on a
nearby tree however we can still see gaussian what is
happening. The COATED FIGUREs legs begin to move ever so
slightly less after every hit before SPY-MAN becomes out
of breath and roles of onto his side and takes his mask
off, running his fingers through his hair.
CUT TO BLACK.
THE STUPENDOUS SPY-MAN appears on screen before slowly
fading out.
END SCENE.
