Nothing

1... I looked up the meaning of nothing and it means, Not anything; no single thing, not at all.
One definition is Zero.
2... So when the Bible talks about "be careful for nothing," it means don't worry about anything,
not a single thing, nothing at all, zero.
3... In this message we will see what the Bible says about nothing.
4... I have preached on a lot of different subject in the last 30 years of pasturing, but today I will
preach on nothing.
5... Many of you can go home today and say true fully that Pastor D. preached on nothing.
6... I want to bring to your attention four important nothings in the Bible.
In the N.T. we find four different nothings.
1... Paul told the Church at Philippi in (Phil.2:3) to let nothing be done through strife or vain
glory.
2... Paul told them in (Phil.4:6) to be careful for nothing.
3... Luke tells us in (Lk.1:37), for with God nothing is impossible.
4... The Laodicean Church in (Rev.3:7) said, I have need of nothing.
My question here today is what part of the N.T. nothings applies to you?
1... Are you doing nothing through strife or vain glory? (Do you do things for personal gain?)
2... Are you worrying about nothing? (God is either God are He is not, what do you believe?)
3... Do you believe that with God nothing is impossible?
4... Could you be labeled among the members of the Laodicean Church that you are rich and
have need of nothing? (Could it be that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked?)
Be Careful for Nothing:
Phil 4:6
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let
your requests be made known unto God.
KJV
1... When I started putting this sermon together, I begin to think about things that we worry
about. My first concern was the message. Will it be anointed? Will it be helpful? Will it edify the
Body of Christ? (Then in my spirit I heard the Lord say, I have got this).
2... We worry about our jobs. Then we are reminded that God fed the children of Israel in the
wilderness with manna. We are reminded that God fed five thousand with five loaves and two
fishes.
3... We worry about our homes. Then we are reminded that if God builds the house, the enemy
can't destroy it.
4... We worry about the economy, especially these days. We worry about politics. We worry
about the traffic while trying to get to work every day. We worry about the weather. And now, we
even worry about the climate. Globe Warming.
5... We worry about our church, then we are reminded that Jesus said that upon this rock I will
build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

3... In our texts (Phil.4:6) the Bible tells us to be careful for nothing. (Be anxiety for nothing).
4... The (NLT) says, Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.
5... In pasturing, the Lord has taught me, to not worry about anything, to pray about everything.
6... What are you worrying about right not? Turn your worries into nothing.
With God Nothing is Impossible:
1... In (Luke 1:37) we find, For with God nothing will be impossible."
2... (Jeremiah 32:17) Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by
your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.
3... With God nothing is impossible, but if you're trying to understand with your head, you're
never ever going to see it. You need to embrace it with your heart, and then you will see.
4... 'For with God nothing will be impossible', it's translated in the International Standard Version
and the American Standard Version thus: 'Nothing is impossible with respect to any of God's
promises', or 'For no word from God shall be void of power'.
5... Every obstacle has to be removed when we claim the promise that nothing is impossible with
God.
6... (Jer.32:27) says, Behold I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for
me?
Let Nothing be Done of Vain Glory:
1... In (Phil 2:3) we find that the Word of God says, Let nothing be done through strife or
vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
2... Desire of praise; wishing to draw the eyes of others upon you, and to make yourselves the
subjects of discourse and admiration which is directly opposite to the love of God:
Philippians 2:3-4
3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above
yourselves,
4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
(NIV)
3... Paul said NOTHING whatsoever should be done through selfish ambition of selfish conceit.
(Selfish ambition and selfish conceit are two of the greatest enemies of unity among the people
of God.
4... Selfish ambition is the desire to be number one (Focus on Me), no matter what the cost.
Selfish Conceit is pride and self-displays.
5... Anytime that the focus becomes off God, it is vain glory and selfish ambition.
6... Paul said in (1 Cor 14:26) How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you
hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all
things be done unto edifying. (Here we see NOTHING being done for vain glory are selfish
ambition).
7... Paul said in (1 Cor 14:40) Let all things be done decently and in order.
They Had need of Nothing:
1... In (Rev 3:17) Jesus said to the church of the Laodiceans Because thou sayest, I am rich, and
increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and
miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
2... The Laodicean Church had a threefold estimate of themselves.
1...) I am rich.
2...) I am increased with goods.
3...) I have need of nothing.

3... But Jesus said they were wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.
4... They were rich in the world, but poor with God.
How will you respond to the Nothings in the Bible?
1... Will you continue in strife (selfish ambistion) and vain glory?
2... Will you continue to worry about everything are nothing.
3... Will you stand on the promise that nothing is impossible with God?
4... Will you be like the Laodiean church, and say that you have need of nothing?
