For my creative artefact, I have created 9 key frames

by having my actors perform whilst I photographed the
actions. After this, I selected photographs that
represented a chronological sequence for my film,
Behind the veil, and that demonstrated a clear narrative in support of my
script.

Key Frame 1

Halima Mohamed 12Y

Scenario: Tanya and her boyfriend Luigi walk down the

corridor with their arms around each other until they
reach at an intersect
Cinematography: A long-shot and two shot is used to
show the two characters and the location. This allows
the audience to see the surrounding and visualise the
narrative. The slow panning shot shows the moods of
the two characters through how they are walking
together.
Mise-En-Scene: The location of this scene is seen
clearly by the audience due to the surroundings of the
characters. The costumes of the characters are smart
to present to the audience that they are students. The
lighting within the frame is dull as if it is an ordinary
day. There are no props that can be seen around
although their character positioning is in the centre of
the frame to emphasize what the main focus is.
Sound: There are faded screams of younger students
that can be heard from afar to showcase the school
environment.

Key Frame 2

Scenario: In this scene, Tanya is seen entering the

ladies toilet.
Cinematography: Long-shot is used to show the
audience from Tanyas point of view. The long-shot
shows the characters surrounding and highlighting
what the atmosphere is like.
Mise-En-Scene: The location used in this scene is
evident to the audience as to what the atmosphere is
like.
Sound: The audience is able to hear the diegetic
sounds of other students having conversations whilst
Tanya walks past them.

Key Frame 3

Scenario: This scene shows the main character

holding a tissue under her eye. Tanyas facial
expressions show the audience what is about to
happen.
Cinematography: Over the shoulder shot is used in
this scene to show Tanyas facial expressions that are
mirrored. The shot emphasizes her expressions as we
can see both back and front of the character.
Mise-En-Scene: The costume of the character remains
as the uniform. The location seen is the toilet where the
Tanya is taking off her makeup. High key lighting is
used to show the bright the day is outside whilst she
changes herself. The character positioning is in the

middle of the frame to emphasize the focal character.

Sound: There is ambient sound showing the audience
that the setting is natural. There are blurred noises in
the background visualising the atmosphere
Key Frame 4

Scenario: In this scene, Tanya is removing black

garments from her bag.
Cinematography: medium close-up is used to show
the audience from Tanyas point of view. The medium
close-up shows the characters surrounding and
highlighting what the atmosphere is like.
Mise-En-Scene: The location used in this scene is
evident to the audience as to what the atmosphere is
like.

Halima Mohamed 12Y

Sound: The audience is able to hear the diegetic

sounds of other students having conversations whilst
Tanya is alone in the toilet.

Key Frame 5

Scenario: In this scene, Tanya is shown walking out the

school toilet dressed differently to how she was in the
previous picture.
Cinematography: A medium close up is used to help
the audience understand the characters feelings and
thoughts. The frame shows Tanyas emotions as she
looks down whilst walking to make herself look inferior.

Halima Mohamed 12Y

Mise-En-Scene: The characters costume has changed

from the previous frame as well as the makeup. This is
to show the audience how she has changed within a
few minutes. The prop used in this scene is her big
school bag, showing where she stores her other
costume. The location is the same but the characters
positioning is changed to emphasize that she is the
focus within the frame.
Sound: There are blurred noises in the background
visualising the atmosphere. There is ambient sound
showing the audience that the setting is natural
Key Frame 6

Scenario: In this scene, Tanya is shown walking out

the school gates. This has an aim of showing the
audience that she has left the previous location and is
about to go into another.
Cinematography: A medium long shot is used to show
the full location and surroundings of the character. The

Halima Mohamed 12Y

isolation of the area can be seen clearly because the

there is more space of the location giving it more focus.
Mise-En-Scene: The face of the character cannot be
seen therefore her makeup is not visible. The costume
remains the same as the previous scene as well as the
high key lighting. The location has changed showing
that she is leaving the school premises.
Sound: The audience is able to hear the diegetic
sounds of moving cars within the atmosphere
Key Frame 7

Scenario: Tanya walks inside her house and calls out

for her parents to check if anyone is home. She gets no
response so she carelessly takes off her shoes and
throws them.
Cinematography: Close up is used in this scene to call
attention to what Tanya is doing. The hesitation seen

Halima Mohamed 12Y

through her eyes helps the understanding of the

character towards the audience.
Mise-En-Scene: Her costume is the same as the scene
before whereas her location has now changed. She is
inside the house and the character positioning does not
show what is behind her. The lighting is not as bright or
dull because she is inside the house.
Sound: There are blurred noises in the background
visualising the atmosphere.

Key Frame 8

Scenario: Tanyas mind is clear that no one is in the

house, therefore she can do what she wants. She walks
up the stairs to her room and as she walks up the
stairs, she lifts her dress revealing what she is wearing
underneath.

Halima Mohamed 12Y

Cinematography: Medium long-shot is used with the

purpose of implying that Tanya may always be going
through this. Her slow movements suggest that she is
scared.
Mise-En-Scene: The costume remains the same as
well as the lighting of the frame. However, location has
changed as well as the positioning within the frame.
This shows that the character is scared as she takes
each step slowly.
Sound: There is ambient sound showing the audience
that the setting is natural

Key Frame 9

Halima Mohamed 12Y

Scenario: Faizan, Tanyas older brother is holding a

belt whilst looking down at her. The angle of the key
frame suggests to the audience that Tanya has done
something wrong.
Cinematography: Medium close up is used to pull
attention to how Tanya is currently feeling.
Mise-En-Scene: The character positioning of the
brother shows how inferior Tanya is. The lighting is dull
and gloomy. The location used in this scene is Tanyas
room showing the audience that she is given no privacy
as he is in her room without her permission.
Sound: There is ambient sound showing the audience
that the setting is natural.
