WATCHING PAT PARELLI RIDE MY HORSE
This year, I have had the privilege of watching Pat Parelli ride my horse, Grey, in
demonstrations in Europe. It was a dream come true to see Pat riding my horse, that I had started in
Germany and I was lucky enough to be able to buy from his breeder.
Grey is a 7-year-old PRE x Hanavarian who has been with me since 2010. He has been an
outstanding horse from day one. At the Game of Contact course at Stoneleigh Park last year, Linda
asked me if Pat could ride Grey during the opening talk of the two-day Horse & Soul Tour Stop at
Aintree, UK. I felt flattered and, of course, said yes!
So we took Grey to Aintree on Thursday night before the show and got him all ready for Pat
to try Friday morning. Pat would ride Grey a little on Friday to get to know him, and then do the
opening talk of the Horse & Soul Tour on Saturday while riding him. All told, about one and a half
hours. But it soon became very different! Pat just wouldnt get off Grey!
On Saturday morning, I had to get Grey ready for Pat an hour before the show. Pat was there
not a minute later to get on the horse, rode him until the opening talk and then just stayed on and
kept riding! Grey and Pat did all kinds of cool stuff, including some nice free styles. It was great for
me to watch my horse improving so much!
The best thing of all, it felt to me like Grey felt good about himself. Of course I was
incredibly proud to see my Grey boy in the big ring in front of so many people, cameras and
spotlights in an event that was a forward step in history.
37. Why wouldnt Pat get off Grey in the show?
A. The show was entertaining.
