NOTE-BOOK
4239abeat Kitten Rock in the Grade 1 juvenile hurdle at Punchestown last April and he might have beaten him again if he didn't fall at the second-last. We will never know the answer, though. He loomed up on the outside and was
seemingly full of running when he took off a stride too early and left Townend with no chance. He'll probably swerve Cheltenham now, at which his only entry is the World Hurdle, but he ought to develop into a smashing
chaser next season.
636a jumped too big over the practice hurdle and the first two or three flights in the race. He may go chasing next season.
96a may have left connections wondering what might have been had he not tumbled in the Triumph Hurdle. When the jumps-bred was winning earlier in the season, Willie Mullins saw the horse as a winter chaser and said he
was not a Triumph Hurdle horse. Clearly he is not at all reliant on the mud, as he was a revelation here and one could not say he was any way flattered as he went a decent gallop up front. Between the last two, clear, the
horse (as he does) flashed his tail but he seems thoroughly genuine and this was quite a performance given the fall he had at Cheltenham. He is going to make an exciting four- and five-year-old chaser next season for
Willie Mullins, who will look forward to availing of the age allowance. Before that he will go for the Priz Alain Du Breil, which Diakali won last year, but likely without the prep Diakali had at the same venue. He jumped the last
here like a horse far from tired.
4784 took a heavy fall.
4432a didn't read the script as he landed this race in a performance that raised as many questions as it provided answers. Making all, it took a couple of flights for his jumping to warm up and Paul Townend rode a good, tactical
front-running race. He gave him a bit of a breather at around the third last and when he kicked again in the straight he had everything in trouble and nothing could make an impression on him until the rider produced the
stick. From the last he was flashing his tail under pressure and doing very little in front. Perhaps if another horse came to him he would have picked up again but it at least raises the question of how he would get up the
Cheltenham hill if he went there. He's clearly a good horse but what he does off the bridle is now in question.
3864a looked good at Fairyhouse when making all and similar tactics were deployed here. He's a son of Beneficial who handles this ground and will stay further than this in time, so it was hardly surprising to see Walsh dictate
matters from the front. He didn't go quickly though, which meant his two main market rivals still had a squeak on the home turn. He needed to quicken between the final two flights and he did so without being hugely
impressive. He got the job done and you won't see the best of him until he goes over fences. The Triumph Hurdle (20-1 generally) is likely to be sidestepped unless the ground is soft with a trip to France the trainer's
preferred option.
3099a is hardly the archetypal 3yo, bred for distances and chasing. His stamina stood to him and his jumping was impressive for a three-year-old, reflecting that he had gained jumping experience in France. Not a Triumph Hurdle
horse, Abbyssial looks a grand staying type for the future but he is not slow either. He is expected to improve when conditions worsen.

QUOTES
96a It was a fantastic performance and you would wonder what he would have done if he had stood up at Cheltenham. I was very pleased with his final piece of work during the week. It was one of the best bits ever, although I
thought the ground was getting a bit too dry for him. I'd say he'll go chasing next season.-Willie Mullins, trainer
He looks a chaser. He's been doing unbelievable work at home and has turned into a horse with gears. He is still a bit quirky and babyish. He'll make a smashing chaser.-Ruby Walsh, ride
4432aIt looks like he's improving. He could be a Cheltenham horse but I wouldn't want drying ground. He could well go back to France with him. I'd have no worries about him getting up the hill.-Willie Mullins, trainer.
3864a I'm very pleased with that. He didn't go that quick so it was nice to see him fend off the other two. He jumped big but we bought him as a chaser. He's a fine, big horse so at the moment I wouldn't be thinking about
Cheltenham for him and I'd be more interested in going back to France. That could change, depending on the ground at Cheltenham.\ - Willie Mullins, trainer.
3099aHe is not a Triumph Hurdle type of horse, more a chaser in the making, and softer ground will be to his advantage. He will stay a trip.-Willie Mullins, trainer.

NOTE-BOOK
4223 remains without a win since his novice days and not for the first time this season proved bitterly disappointing. He was under pressure turning in and quickly found himself left behind once he started to hang. He's left with it
all to prove.
3354ais a horse that's likely to continue to divide opinions and this with a negative viewpoint of him only had their case strengthened here. He had a very nice position but in the back straight he started to jump to his left. He still
travelled well but he jumped left again two out and made a mistake to boot. He wasn't long about downing tools from there. Perhaps what he does at Cheltenham will eclipse whatever he does for the rest of the season but
there seems little to be positive about at the moment.
2203 , who had plenty in hand here judged on official ratings, was held up and seemed to jump more fluently than has sometimes been the case. However, when he was asked to close down on his rivals in the straight the
response was negligible. He has questions to answer now.
53a has had an unsatisfactory first season in the senior ranks, failing to win in six attempts. He looked rather one-paced here, though he may well have suffered from the tactical decision to keep a close eye on Quevega
throughout. In any case it has been an antic-climactic campaign.
5169 , who ran a fine race to be third in the World Hurdle, had won here last season and disputed the lead from the start. He tended to jump right at his hurdles, a trait that became more marked as the race progressed, and in the
end might have been the difference between victory and defeat. His jumping issues are preventing him becoming the champion stayer his novice season promised he might be.
4767 , last season's Albert Bartlett hero, the chosen mount of McCoy ahead of the winner, has had his issues this season, but seemed on his way back in the Cleeve and he looked to post a career-best in defeat, travelling well
into the lead but lacking the class to race on with the front pair.
3890 , who had apparently had treatment on his back, including acupuncture, since he last ran, returned to his best with the aid of cheekpieces. He had his sort of ground here and seems to be the best guide to the form. He's
now back up and running for the campaign, but it would surprise were he not to find one or two too good in the World Hurdle.

12.03.15

3198 , the top staying novice last season, arguably looked set to come off second best to Celestial Halo, until blundering badly, at Newbury, but he too was expected to be suited by the return to more testing ground. His jumping
again failed to impress, though, and he was a tired and well beaten horse when diving at the last and parting ways with McCoy. This was a flat effort, clearly below the best of his form from a season ago, and as things
stand his World Hurdle claims are on the floor (pushed out to 14-1 in places).
2814 , the mount of Barry Geraghty with A P McCoy heading to Newcastle to partner My Tent Or Yours in the Fighting Fifth, had missed his intended comeback at Wetherby due to a cut knee. Having won all six starts over hurdles
last season including the Grade 1 novice events over 3m at the Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals, he promised to be the new rising star of the staying hurdle brigade, but things didn't look great from an early stage. Jumping
right into Reve de Sivola at each of the first two flights, his hurdling failed to convince at all after that and it was his class that enabled him to get on terms with Celestial Halo after three out. However, he crumpled on landing
after screwing jumping the second-last and lost all chance there and then. It was an ugly mistake and hopefully he hasn't injured himself in the process, as we still don't know how good he really is.
5161 needed to answer a slight question over his ability to handle this faster surface, with him having revelled in testing ground previously and looked such a strong stayer, but he was never too far from the leaders and gradually
drew clear once sent on in the straight. Clearly a high-class staying novice, whose jumping is getting better all the time, his 2014 World Hurdle odds range from 5-1 to 5-2 and he'll presumably be aimed at all the top staying
hurdles en route to next year's festival.

QUOTES
2203 We are a little bit disappointed. Tony said he should go over fences, we could try that I suppose, it is up to JP. Tony thought turning in he might win with him and he is in good form, there is no excuse that way. - Rebecca
Curtis, trainer
5169 He has run a blinder but was beaten by a good horse. He did lose a shoe on the first circuit but whether that made a difference to the result I doubt it.-Rebecca Curtis, trainer.
3890 Tony has come back and said he would come on for that as he hasn't really had a race before today. Now that we have got him physically right we can now look forward to Cheltenham and the big one in March on better
ground which will help. - Rebecca Curtis, trainer.
3198 AP said he didn't feel he was quite right the last half a mile. We will go back to the drawing board.-Rebecca Curtis, trainer.
2814 That was just unfortunate. I was happy with him at the time and was only a length down. It was a pity it happened like that. - Barry Geraghty, rider
5161 He jumped brilliantly and still seems to be improving. I don't see any rush to go over fences and we'll go down the staying hurdle route next season. - Rebecca Curtis, trainer.

NOTE-BOOK
4109 , found out in the Long Walk last time, made much of the running. He was still in fifth over the last, but missed out on qualifying for the final in the end.
3181 , a progressive stablemate of the winner, is still only a 5yo and he couldn't match two hardened stayers at this stage of his career.
2662 , whose yard won this with Diamond Harry five years previously, made just about all the running under his relatively inexperienced rider, jumping these obstacles fluently and forging clear early on the run-in. This was
impressive, the step up to 3m clearly suiting, and as it was just his sixth racecourse appearance it's reasonable to expect that this isn't the limit to what he can achieve. He'll make quite a chaser when the time comes.
2057 appeared to be just getting on top going to the final hurdle, but wasn't as fluent as the winner and lost valuable momentum.
3889 won on similar ground over C&D on New Year's Day. He was left behind from the second last and this goes some way to confirming his limitations, but he's something to look forward to once sent chasing.
3454 was slightly keen early on but settled fine once in front. Jumping neatly, he found plenty to hold his rivals under a good ride from his amateur partner. He's likely to be more effective still in a strongly run race, and promises
to stay 3m in time. His owner, wife of the winning trainer whose yard is in fine form, is reluctant to bring this promising gelding back here for the festival.
2940 , out of a half-sister to smart chaser Mon Parrain, was returning from a four-month break since showing promise on his hurdling debut at Clairefontaine in France. He was forgotten in the market, but came through from an
always prominent position with a sustained run approaching two out. He took over at the last, and won pretty decisively. He should prove effective at up to 3m on good ground or worse, and remain competitive over
hurdles, but has scope for a future over fences.

QUOTES
3181 Jane Williams on Aubusson: That was a very brave run for a five-year-old. We knew if the ground was going to suit Reve it wasn't going to suit him and he wouldn't have liked that ground.
2662 Jane Williams, owner of Aubusson: There are no plans, the target was always today. He is only five and he is quite fragile so we will see how he comes out of this.
3454 That must make him one of this season's top novices. I was waiting for a Warwick race next month but Nick (Williams) said we should come here to see how he handles Cheltenham, although I doubt he'll run at the festival.
Nick will put a huge amount of pressure on me but the festival isn't for me as I have a feeling young horses don't come out of it very well. - Jane Williams, owner of Aubusson and mother of the winning rider.
2940 I bought him as a yearling but he had problems and we gave him lots of time. He's a lovely prospect for chasing but he's not for sale - Jayne Williams, owner.

NOTE-BOOK
2655 hadn't run since finishing second (when conceding 6lb) to subsequent World Hurdle winner More Of That at Haydock a year earlier, but he was clearly straight enough and beat the remainder in handy fashion. It remains to
be seen where he fits in in the hurdling division and his long-term future belongs over fences, but he's clearly a high-class prospect.
2671 is well regarded and the ex-French 4-y-o ran a race full of promise on his British debut. He was plenty free enough early, but that didn't stop him going close and he ought to prove very hard to beat next time out.
683a was having his first run for Nicky Henderson after being bought out of David Cottin's stable. He'll probably go chasing.

NOTE-BOOK
3853 , back up in trip, was done with prior to jumping badly left at the last. His trainer believes better ground will really suit later this season, although it's very hard to see him beating the principals if heading for the World Hurdle.
3446 made much of the running but was outpaced turning in. He rallied again late, though, as one might expect from a three-miler running over shorter, and will have every chance of reversing the form with the winner in the
World Hurdle, for which he's 25-1.
2807 made every yard at Wetherby last time and attempted to do the same again. The difference here was that the ground was more testing and he was 8lb worse off at the weights with Medinas, and a combination of those
factors led to a turnaround in the form.
2203 progressed into a very decent novice hurdler last season, putting in his best effort when upped to 3m in a Grade 1 at Aintree. He made the running here as usual, but his rider kept something in reserve, despite what looked
a true gallop and, when he pressed the button turning for home, his mount found plenty and was well in control by the final flight. He looks a good prospect for staying races, with his versatility ground-wise already
established. The long distance hurdle at Newbury is next on the agenda.
5157 , seventh in the Neptune, knows only one way of racing and he turned in a career-best on this step up to 3m, finding plenty when pressed and pulling well clear of the remainder. He seemingly needs to go left-handed
judged on his Ascot run earlier in the season, so that limits options a little, but his trainer clearly has a useful horse for staying hurdles next season.
4750 was still in the front rank coming down the hill, but weakened from the turn in. He'll win more races at a lower level when allowed his own way in front.
4261 , going right-handed for the first time, was impressive when making all at Newbury the previous month, and predictably set off in front again. However, it was soon clear he was racing wide on the track, especially after
jumping out to his left at the third, and it's quite possible something was amiss. He'll surely return to a left-handed course next time.
3716 made all for a clear-cut success and took his career record to 4-5. Jason Maguire was intent on making this a real test aboard the proven stayer and, crucially, was able to get a breather into him on the back straight. It was
apparent from two out he was not for catching and this was a taking display, one that puts him into the reckoning for the spring festivals. His second bumper win advertises his versatility regards going.
2536 , 2-2 in bumpers, was tried in a tongue-tie on this step up in trip having run well on his hurdling debut here last month. Again ridden from the front, he faced a stern challenge from the second horse all the way up the home
straight yet kept on finding enough to hold him off. There should be plenty more to come from him.
2018 had winning bumper form on heavy ground and was making his hurdling debut. He made much of the running but was a sitting duck for the winner. To his credit he stuck manfully to the task, fading only in the last furlong
and should soon open his account.

QUOTES
2807 All being well he'll go to Leopardstown at Christmas for the 3m hurdle. He's possibly better going left handed, as he didn't run well at Ascot last season.-Warren Greatrex, trainer
2203 He will go to Newbury. We came here to see where we stood, if he had not been up to it we could have gone back to handicaps but he has proved himself. I had a niggling feeling he had improved a lot at home. He is a
really tough, solid horse. - Warren Greatrex, trainer
2536 He ran here the other day and was a bit green, but he got in a nice rhythm today and liked the ground. I put a tongue-tie on him because sometimes when they can be a bit free it takes their mind off it. He's only a
four-year-old and will get better and better. - Warren Greatrex, trainer

NOTE-BOOK
4258aproduced a lovely performance on ground that is probably a bit quicker than ideal.
3823a, a Grade 1 winner as a novice in season 2011-2012 and also successful in Grade 2 and Grade 3 company, had been off the track for a year prior to his return to action at Leopardstown last month. The benefit of that run
and the more testing conditions here saw him deliver an improved performance and despite being out-jumped two out and again at the final hurdle, he dug deep for pressure and stayed on well to grab the verdict close
home. Plans will depend on how he comes out of this race and on ground conditions-he needs plenty of dig.
3354awas in rear most of the way and just kept going at one pace. It was his first run for a year and he's sure to come on for this.
2855a was brave but was the first horse beaten.
2408a emerged with considerable credit in winning on his seasonal return. At this stage it could be that he is better over hurdles, as he was making if five wins from six here in that sphere. He also probably wants even softer than
this, so to win in pretty convincing fashion augurs favourably for the season ahead. No doubt connections will be tempted to return to chasing at some stage. Bookmakers introduced him into the Ladbrokes World Hurdle at
16-1 and bigger.
259a was reported afterwards by his rider as having jumped too carefully. He didn't really travel from some way out for that reason and the ground probably wasn't soft enough for him.
5054a had put up his best performance of the season when registering a decisive win over this trip at Naas on his previous start. He began to stay on from behind after three out and stayed on strongly from the final fence.
Heavier ground and a longer trip will probably be needed for him.
4691a travelled as well as he did on this occasion; his jumping was transformed from his two previous efforts at Leopardstown and Navan and that helped him travel well. When asked to win his race he just eased clear and won
like a class horse. It's unclear whether we'll see him again this season but there's plenty to look forward to for coming seasons.
4312a followed up a poor run at Leopardstown over Christmas where he jumped terribly with another pretty ordinary effort here. He wasn't travelling from about the fourth last and made very little impression in the straight. He has
always looked more of a stayer but there are a few question marks about him now after two poor performances.

QUOTES
4258aTony Martin, trainer of Dedigout: He'd probably want it no quicker than that so we'll take him home and see about Cheltenham. It's a pity he's had the problems he has had. It was a good effort over the trip.
3823aTony Martin, trainer of Dedigout: He cracked a knee at Fairyhouse in December 2013 and was off for a year. He didn't have much of a prep for his comeback run at Christmas and, in the circumstances, we were pleased
with his run at Leopardstown. The run brought him on a good bit and the testing ground today suited him. Cheltenham won't be in the equation unless we got soft ground. It's a day-by-day job with him as it is with Bog
Warrior.
2408aIt's pointless if the ground is any quicker than that really. Near unraceable ground is what he wants. I haven't a clue whether he'll go back chasing or not.-A J Marting, trainer.
4691aWe went to Leopardstown and he missed the second. He just lost his confidence after that. If we had our time over again we would have pulled him up halfway down the back straight. We went to Navan then and he hadn't
gotten over it. We got plenty of schooling into him since and he got it right. I've thought of nothing after today, all we wanted him to do was to do it as well as he did today. It's ground dependent where we go, he likes that
ground. - Tony Martin, trainer

NOTE-BOOK
3354ahas run two rock-solid races against the winner in the past month and has come out the wrong end on both occasions without doing anything wrong. Over this trip one would have thought that he could turn the tables. He
was ridden positively, jumped well and with the rail to help him he galloped on resolutely. The winner is just that bit better than him and there's no real reason for thinking that's going to change in a hurry.
2847a would prefer a bit further, somewhat offset by the fierce gallop, and he travelled like a winner only to make no real impression on Lieutenant Colonel. He hardly ever seems to run a bad race and will have another bright
campaign on this evidence. There are not many proper stayers in Ireland at the moment, so he should be a force in the Grade 1 3m contests, beginning at Christmas at Leopardstown.
53a had never previously given any sign that he could win at this level. He had been beaten 19l in third in a Grade 2 contest over the trip at Gowran in January. It is tempting to see the race as a tactical triumph for Davy Russell,
who took the initiative from three out and sent him clear early in the straight, holding enough in reserve to hold off his two highest-profile rivals from the last.
5138 , runner-up in this contest last season, posted another sound effort, doing best of those that raced up with the pace. He deserves to pick up a decent handicap, and will presumably have the option of going to Haydock next
month, as he did last year, or Punchestown before then, as he won his Pertemps Qualifier there back in February.
4765 travelled nicely and probably bettered last season's third in the race, considering he was 7lb higher this time around.
4061a came with a sustained run on the outer from two out and landing running over the final flight might have proved the most significant aspect of all. The winner is a good, uncomplicated horse at his best that seems to thrive
on big-field staying handicaps such as this, indeed he's been a bit unlucky not to win a couple more. The Pertemps Final is the plan if he gets in.
3372a is one to note. He ran a bit better than indicated by his finishing position, and it should be recalled that he fared best of the raiders in finishing third behind Holywell in last year's final.
2408a ran a stinker, even allowing for the fact that this is almost certainly not the sort of race in which he thrives.

QUOTES
53a We ran Jetson here because there was nothing else for him and we thought he might nick a place. This is beyond my wildest dreams for him. Davy (Russell) gave him a super ride. - Jessica Harrington, trainer.
4061aHe didn't get into the Cheltenham race but hopefully he will this time. He's not big and Paddy Kennedy said the low weight today compared to at Christmas was a big difference.-Jessica Harrington, trainer.

NOTE-BOOK
3354alooked to have taken advantage of a sub-standard Grade 1 at Fairyhouse but this was more convincing even if the same horses filled the first two placings. Racing close to the pace throughout, which was a reasonable one
on the ground, he found plenty when asked to go a bit quicker after the second last and continued to find as the challenge from the winner persisted to the line. It was a really taking display of jumping, galloping and
stamina. He's an ungainly looking horse but that's obviously deceptive as the runner-up was a really tough nut to crack, he also seems to be improving and was taking on Jetson over what would have been perceived to
have been his trip. There was nothing really to dislike about this and he deserves to take his chance in a World Hurdle on this evidence with better ground unlikely to inconvenience him.
2847a, whose preparation for this was rather unorthodox, showed himself to be a very smart performer in this victory. A course winner over hurdles, he got a beautiful ride from Bryan Cooper, who was keen not to go after the
tearaway leader, thus keeping his mount as much as he could within his comfort zone. She came back to the field more meekly than might have been envisaged and it was then left to the winner and the second to fight it
out. It was impressive what Lieutenant Colonel found for a drive and he can now go back chasing next season. It is hard to think of him as a proper Grade 1 hurdler but he could only beat what was there.
2241ajumped well for most of the way too but a couple of vital mistakes before the straight meant he lost his place, but when getting back upsides the winner he just couldn't find enough to get past him and in the end he was the
one to crack. It was a broadly satisfactory effort and he should come on for it but he looks as though he'll have to find a fair bit of improvement to be among the better novice chasers this season. That of course is perfectly
possible.
75a probably ran just about as well as he was entitled to, and is another for whom the dawdling pace wouldn't have been ideal. He didn't have the gears to be anything other than one-paced in the end.
5200a probably wasn't man enough for the Cheltenham cauldron. He didn't appear to enjoy the hustle and bustle of that contest, nor the undulations of the track, but it was testament to his ability than he was able to get within 13l
of Faugheen. This test was far more to his liking. Never too far away, he travelled and jumped with consummate ease and, when asked to go and win his race in between the final two flights, the response was immediate.
He looks every inch a Grade 1 staying chaser in the making, but his trainer was quick to point out that he is only five and that he may stay over hurdles for one more season. Whatever path he chooses, he's hugely exciting.
He could turn up in the 2m4f Grade 1 novice hurdle at Punchestown too.
4750 gave away ground racing on the outside throughout, but was bang in contention turning in, only to hang left and weaken up the hill. He didn't improve for the longer trip as many had expected.
4060a didn't lose too much in defeat here and remains a horse with a very bright future. He settled behind the leader and settled well, but he just didn't have the change of gear which the winner possessed. For all that he kept
going quite strongly. He's likely to improve with a step up in trip and looks a chaser in the making.
3480a created a favourable impression when winning a Punchestown bumper on his debut in mid-November but the form had been let down since, including by the runner-up. He was no match for the exciting Vautour at Navan
on his hurdling bow but there was no shame in that and he devoured these rivals. His jumping was clean and he certainly has the scope to make a nice novice chaser next term. Before then he ought to hold his own in
novice hurdles, perhaps over 2m4f, as he galloped right away in the closing stages. He didn't beat much, but the manner of it suggests there could be more to come.
2961a did well to win what looked a good bumper at Punchestown and this was an encouraging start to his hurdling career. He jumped well in the main and could be suited by stepping up to 2m4f. He'll make a lovely novice
chaser next season but winning a maiden hurdle should prove a formality before then.
2555a came out on top with less than one length covering the first four home. The pace was ordinary and the field was tightly packed leaving the back straight but the impression left was that plenty of winners will come out of the
race. The winner began to close over 4f out and edged ahead into the straight. Taken on inside the last 2f, he stuck to his task well and is to go hurdling, according to trainer Dessie Hughes.

QUOTES
3354aHe was very good today. He's a great jumper and stayed well, he has that bit of class. The World Hurdle is the aim. Sandra Hughes, trainer
2847aIt was always Dad's plan to stay hurdling this year. He's in at Christmas and we'll have a look at that - Sandra Hughes, trainer.
5200aHe's a smashing horse and will make a lovely chaser in time. But he's only five so we might stay over hurdles next season. He has plenty of pace and might be good enough to run in some good races like maybe the
Hattons Grace Hurdle back here. - Dessie Hughes, trainer.
3480aHe's a smashing horse and that was an improvement from Navan. He was probably beaten by a good horse at Navan and he jumped great today. - Dessie Hughes, trainer

NOTE-BOOK
3823aMonksland came out best at the weights based on official figures and was enitled to confirm placings with those he met at Leopardstown. Always handy, he led under pressure before the final hurdle and although he
jumped that hurdle better than the winner, he was collared close home. The very testing conditions were not in his favour and he will do better. However, Paddy Power pushed him out to 16-1(from 12-1) for the World
Hurdle.
3354areturned from a two year absence and enhanced his reputation if anything. He was held up at the back of the field and took a little bit of time to get into a jumping rhythm. While he never really got into the race he certainly
came home to really good effect and one can imagine that improvement is the only thing that can come from this. If he stays sound he's certainly a most intriguing addition to the ranks of the staying hurdlers.
3322a, tackling this trip for the first time, reversed placings with Zaidpour to whom he had finished second in the half-mile shorter Grade 1 Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse early this month. It was stamina that won the day on
this occasion, as he appeared to be clearly struggling leaving the back straight before arriving with his challenge on the inside approaching the final hurdle. He went to the front on the run-in and was well on top towards the
finish. He is unlikely to reappear before the Ladbrokes World Hurdle at Cheltenham.
2821a ran a perfectly satisfactory race. Held up in last place by Carberry, he didn't quite pick up to best effect on the testing ground after the second last but he kept staying on and did his best work from the last without
threatening the winner. There are enough conditions races at about 2m4f to target and he's a likely horse to keep giving of his best. The fact that he also has enough speed to win at 2 miles makes him interesting.
2171a, a distant third to Simonsig at Cheltenham, was making only his fifth racecourse appearance and he continued his trainer's fine record in the race with an accomplished display. A shade keen in the early stages, he was
allowed to settle in behind runners for the first half of the race. His jumping was fairly proficient, apart from landing a little flat-footed at one or two early on and the way he cruised upsides the pacesetters before two out was
quite taking. He appeared to have everything under control until hitting the top of the final hurdle and landing awkwardly. That gave the runner-up a chance but he soon dissolved that notion, quickening smartly without his
rider having to get serious. The Hatton's Grace Hurdle would look the ideal place for him to turn up in next. The decision to delay chasing for a year looks a good one. Noel Meade, trainer: "I couldn't be happier. He travelled
brilliant down the straight but just made a hash of the last and may have got a bit tired. There are plenty of nice races for him to run in even if he doesn't make it to the top. The Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse is the race
I have in mind now as I feel 2m4f could be his best trip."
4848 , representing a trainer/jockey combination who took this race back in 2006 when Nicanor defeated the mighty Denman, appeared to be Ireland's biggest hope on the back of three victories, the most recent coming in the
Grade 2 Slaney Novice Hurdle where he beat the exciting Lyreen Legend. Settled towards midfield, he probably got caught in a pocket for a bit longer than that Paul Carberry would have wanted after four out, meaning he
needed to use some energy to bridge the gap, and the pair then suffered some pretty bad interference when Cotton Mill fell in front of him two out. It's impossible to know what would have happened, but he was certainly
bang there with every chance and those involved in him can feel slightly unlucky. He's due to go chasing next season, but could to head to Punchestown next.
3654a retained his unbeaten record. Racing a couple of lengths off a steady enough pace and jumping well, it was impressive the way he quickened to challenge between the final two flights and it was equally impressive the way
he quickened away from the final flight having met it wrong. It was a considerable improvement on what he had achieved prior to this and must lead to the conclusion that he's still unexposed and capable of better still.
3072a came from off the pace to get there close home. He had also been the subject of strong market support when winning his bumper in soft ground at Down Royal last month and despite his rider having to get to work away
from the last he won a shade comfortably in the end. He should come on plenty from this initial experience. Trainer Noel Meade: "He will be much better suited by better ground and actually did well to win as he's been held
up with a bruise in his foot after he ran in the Nnorth. He is obviously a very clear-winded horse and could go further, but better ground is really the main thing with him."
2346a was impressive. Nina Carberry eased him into the contest on the outside, the horse quickened up when asked and despite a slight tendency to swish his tail he won as he liked. Chances are he could well be decent.

NOTE-BOOK
3853 , so game when landing a third Long Walk at Ascot last month, so nearly added to his 2013 in this contest and is obviously still right at the top of his game. He winged his hurdles and emerges the best horse at the weights,
conceding the winner 4lb. Should it come up soft at the Festival, the veteran will be a danger to all.
3181 had won the race for the past two seasons and a third straight win looked unlikely after he made a right mess of the third. That wasn't to be the last of his mistakes, with another one at the last looking to seal his fate, but
with the runner-up idling it soon became clear he was still in with a chance and he just shaded it. He'll presumably head for another crack at the Cleeve now, a race he won in 2013.
2216a couldn't go with the principals on the drying ground.
53a , second in this race last year, was struggling before the straight on this occasion.
4767 , who set the pace, put in a sloppy round of jumping.
3890 , last year's winner, who took the Long Walk for the second year running last month, was below his very best this time. He struggled to go the early gallop and, while he had his chance off the home turn, perhaps his
previous outing had left a mark.
3198 , the previous year's winner, was soon in front dictating under Richard Johnson and galloped on relentlessly on ground conditions he relishes. Although he would have finished some way adrift of At Fishers Cross had that
one not blundered badly at Newbury the time before, this was a more suitable race and the return to more positive tactics saw him to better effect also. This was his second Grade 1 victory of the season (landed a big prize
at Auteuil last month) and he shall remain a dangerous opponent in these staying races when the ground is at its deepest.
2814 was blown away by Big Buck's when runner-up to the great hurdler in this race last year, but he was returning from a 350-day absence then whereas this time he came here fresh from a Grade 1 success at Auteuil. His
supporters knew their fate soon after turning in, though, as not for the first time he got outpaced at a crucial stage and there was no way back. Next month's Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot, which he won last year, may well suit
him better.
2240a, a thorough stayer, passed six horses on the run-in to snatch victory in the final strides. He'll go for the World Hurdle again, with fewer runs beforehand than he had last season.

QUOTES
3198 He had an unusually hard race in the Cleeve and won't go there again. He will go the World Hurdle whatever the ground.-Nick Williams, trainer.

NOTE-BOOK
3853 got on top nearing the business end and showed his true colours again back over hurdles. He was only due to falling in the Kauto Star Novice Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day, but just about set the standard and was well
backed. His only previous outing here was when flopping in the Fred Winter yet he's turned inside out since then and there was so much to like about his attitude after the last. Now he's proven around this course and won a
leading trial, it makes a lot of sense to take in the World Hurdle. He was slashed into a general 6-1 in the ante-post market and, with defending champion More Of That currently still under a cloud, that price looks more than
fair.
3247 , who unseated behind the winner on his chasing debut at Newbury, won easily at short odds next time, but the step back up in grade found his jumping out again, departing with a circuit to run. He's a very classy horse
with a big future if his jumping can be straightened out.
2917 , a 165-rated hurdler who unseated on his debut over fences when favourite at Newbury a week ago, got his chasing career back on track with a fluent display. Always travelling well, his jumping was slick and athletic and,
although he will face much stiffer tasks in the future, he has the potential to take high rank among this season's crop of novice chasers. His trainer reported that the step up to 3m for the Kauto Star (Feltham) at Kempton on
Boxing Day is an option.
2792 , whose stable had won this race three times since 2005, is highly regarded by his trainer and was comfortably the highest rated of these over hurdles. Making his chasing debut after 278 days off, he was bowling along in
second when he got in too close to the seventh fence and gave his rider little chance of staying aboard.
4441 has improved 35lb since winning at Sandown in December. He was well backed to give his trainer a third victory in this race in four years, but failed to follow the script in an attempt to notch a four-timer. Having defied a
15lb rise to win the Lanzarote at Kempton with ease, he had a hard race when landing the Welsh Champion Hurdle at Ffos Las on unsuitably heavy ground, giving plenty of weight away. The combination of heavy ground
and the 5-y-o's previous exertions are the likely reasons for emptying quickly when making his challenge turning in. He is still a burgeoning talent and we are likely to see the best of him when he jumps a fence.
4025 had been raised 28lb on the back of two impressive successes since stepping up in trip. He looked to face a tough task in the conditions but confirmed himself as a hugely promising prospect. He travelled so fluently in the
ground and was foot perfect at his hurdles before battling bravely after the last. He will make a fantastic chaser in time but connections will not be rushing him this season.
3646 went up 15lb for a clearcut win at Sandown. He followed up in impressive style, surviving an error four from home and drawing away between the last two flights. The decision to defer his chasing career was a sound one
and there are more good races to be won with him in this sphere. His next run could be in the Fixed Brush Hurdle at Haydock or the National Spirit at Fontwell.
2949 absolutely slaughtered the opposition, being noted travelling strongly some way from the finish and then sprinting clear once asked to put the race to bed. Fourth over a shorter trip at Newbury a week earlier (race didnt
really go his way), the longer distance clearly suited him well and hes obviously open to a good deal of further progress, but itll be needed, as the handicapper is sure to hit him hard. Hell make a chaser as some stage,
but seems likely to stay over hurdles this season.
2813 came from out of the pack to post a solid effort. He would not have enjoyed the way the race was run and is open to a bit more improvement.
2366 got outpaced from the second-last. This was a respectable return to action and a switch to chasing is likely to figure in his plans soon.

QUOTES
3853 It was the obvious thing to do after Saphir Du Rheu had that fall the last day. He can go chasing any time. For now we are going for the World Hurdle. I can get him better than he is today. Last year he progressed with runs.
Better ground will suit him again and it puts him right in the mix for Cheltenham - Paul Nicholls, trainer.
2917 We have done plenty of schooling with him since he unluckily did everything but fall at Newbury. I was very pleased with that performance and, though we do not have to step him up to three miles as he has plenty of
speed, something like the Feltham at Kempton on Boxing Day is an option.-Paul Nicholls, trainer.
4441 I think it was one race too many for him. He didn't give me the usual feel. He is only young and will be back. - Daryl Jacob, jockey.
4025 He has travelled great and jumped really well. I was headed going to the last but he was quickest away from the flight and he is a star of a horse. - Harry Derham, jockey
3646 We are very pleased with that. We thought he had a fairly good chance, and Harry's (Derham) claim was very valuable. Paul's (Nicholls) immediate reaction was 'what a chaser he'll be'. He'll be more than a handicapper and
is a class horse for the future. He'll stay hurdling this season and Paul is talking about a race at Haydock in three weeks' time, although the National Spirit is another option. Tom Jonason, assistant trainer
2949 He was very unlucky last week, where it just didn't happen for him but he flew at the end. I didn't know if this might come too quick, but I thought the trip would suit. He's a lovely big four-year-old and next year he'll be an
awesome chaser. He's got the size and scope to be a really great chaser and he's already had an entry over fences, but he'll stay over hurdles this season now - Paul Nicholls, trainer.

NOTE-BOOK
4223 ran a race full of promise on this return from a 10-month absence. Last seen finishing third, albeit beaten 29l, in a Grade 1 at Aintree, he was conceding 8lb or more all round, but travelled like a class act and only seemed to
fail through a lack of fitness. He's a best-priced 40-1 for the World Hurdle, which seems an accurate reflection of his chances.
5157 has been a revelation this season, going unbeaten in three previous runs over hurdles and landing a Grade 2 against seasoned hurdlers at Haydock last time. Those victories have been gained on soft or heavy ground,
though, and although clearly handing this better surface, he wasn't as effective on it and also proved unable to boss the opposition in a bigger, better and more competitive field. Although ultimately well beaten, as a point
winner there's a good chance he'll make an even better chaser and he remains a horse of potential.
4269 produced a thoroughly likeable performance. A former pointer, he had been a surprise winner of novice events at Hexham (beating Regal Encore) and Musselburgh and this represented a huge step up in class. He proved
well up to it, making all and battling on willingly to retain his unbeaten hurdles record. Not in at Cheltenham, he could go to Aintree where the Silver Cross Stayers' Hurdle and the Sefton Novices' Hurdle would be
possibilities. However he does there, he should make quite a chaser for his small stable next season.
4052 proved his shock win over Regal Encore at Hexham to be no fluke and once again turned over an odds-on favourite with a gritty display. The former point winner kept pulling out more under pressure from the home turn
and jumped neatly over the last three hurdles. His rules debut came over 2m, so he's clearly a very versatile performer and a useful one at that. Jumping fences will probably bring out the very best of him and it will be very
interesting to see where he pitches up in his quest to make it 3-3 in this sphere, possibly Aintree in April. It's worth noting his win between the flags also came on quicker ground.
3017 , absent since landing a 3m good-ground Irish point in April from the front, soon assumed command on his rules debut and ran out a gutsy winner. This victory may flatter him a little, but he beat the third comfortably, so
clearly has plenty of ability and shouldn't be under-estimated when next seen.

QUOTES
4269 Seeyouatmidnight is an amazing horse as he just keeps finding. He wasn't doing much in front when he won at Musselburgh and today I knew that if something came at him he'd go on again. - Ryan Mania, jockey

NOTE-BOOK
4239awon last year's Triumph Hurdle but it is hard to believe he did from watching him on his last couple of outings. With blinkers on for the first time, he was close enough if good enough at the third-last but his effort petered out
very tamely indeed. Gordon Elliott must be scratching his head about what to do next and his rating makes life tough too. He'll obviously be better on a livelier surface.
3890adoes seem to have gone backwards this season. He was never a factor at any stage and just kept on. He could be considered the classic case of the Triumph Hurdle winner struggling in the big leagues but the manner in
which he's struggling is fairly severe.
3388a,the Triumph Hurdle winner, had been pulled up lame at Down Royal on his previous start last month. Held up, he closed to track the leaders approaching two out where he made a slight mistake before weakening soon
afterwards. [Tony O'Hehir]
2181a followed up his Triumph win with a poor run at Punchestown. He jumped awkwardly and was a beaten docket early. The vet reported him to be lame post race.
1946 , a good winner of the Triumph Hurdle here last season, had disappointed on his only subsequent outing. He tracked the leader from the start, but looked in trouble when coming under pressure at the penultimate flight.
However, he responded and stuck his head down after the last to gain the advantage up the hill. He has a bit to find with the top hurdlers, but his liking for this track is an advantage.
96a has not had a difficult season but ran what connections described as a "flat race". He seemed to travel fine for most but found little under pressure. This was a tame end to the season.
4784 travelled well into the lead heading down to the last before running on gutsily up the hill. He doesn't have the profile of a typical Triumph winner, having been unraced on the Flat before coming here on the back of just two
runs over hurdles, the first of them a winning one for the Nigel Hawke stable at Market Rasen. He's tough and jumps well, and given his lack of experience there could well be more improvement in him. The Champion Four
Year Old Hurdle at Punchestown seems a more likely option for him than Aintree's Anniversary Hurdle.
4178a took the step up in class in his stride. He certainly wasn't out of place in the line-up and might have got closer but for getting in a bit close to the last. He will appear in a Grade 2 at Fairyhouse towards the end of the month
and we will know a lot more about his Triumph credentials after that.
2392 got his career off to a perfect start. He's not from a yard associated with debut scorers, but he was the unknown quantity in the race and took to his task really well. He's got a decent Flat pedigree as well being a Darley
cast-off and he obviously has the requisite stamina. There really should be some more to come as his rider said he was idling late in the day.

QUOTES
1946 He was not mad about that tacky ground out there so he has done well to win. Wherever he goes next the ground will have to be good so that narrows the options. I suppose we might consider a race like the WKD Hurdle at
Down Royal. - Gordon Elliott, trainer.
4178aIf he had jumped the last, he wouldn't have beaten the winner but he would have been right on top of him. He'll go for the Triumph and will take in the Grade 2 race at Fairyhouse later this month before that. - Gordon Elliott,
trainer.
2392 He had schooled well at home so that was no surprise. He was idling in front. - Mark Quinlan, jockey.

NOTE-BOOK
3853 was well supported for this belated comeback taking on the big boys. He had stamina to prove up in trip and got it well considering he lacked match fitness and will have claims of reversing this form if heading for the World
Hurdle, especially if able to find an opening beforehand. That could be tricky, though, and perhaps Aintree or a return to Punchestown later on will provide his best option.
98a was another who was always handy and this was a cracking effort off 150. Ultimately the weight told, but he has been a fine servant already for the Pipes, with David expecting him to be better left-handed. What was
encouraging here was how the ground did not seem to bother him and presumably chasing will be on the agenda.
4261 , three times a winner in France at up to 2m4f, including a Grade 3 (also placed in Grade 1 company), won without having to come off the bridle back up in distance. He'd made an encouraging debut for David Pipe when
second in a Grade 2 at Haydock last month over 2m but found this much easier, albeit his main market rival failed to perform. The majority of his runs have come in soft/heavy ground but it's definitely worth noting that he
beat now stablemate Dell' Arca (giving him 8lb) on reported good to soft at Bordeaux Le Bouscat last May. Cheltenham plans remain open, with the Neptune, for which he is a 16-1 chance, or a handicap on the agenda.
3778 , who cost a whopping 450,000, had proven himself on bad ground when trained in France and took this in rather than a handicap at Ascot. He was never far away and held every chance, but ultimately this proved too
sharp for him. It may be deemed disappointing, but he shouldn't be fully judged and can surely improve back over a longer distance, which ought to help his jumping.

QUOTES
4261 He did it very well and the second is a decent horse. He handled the ground and we thought he would improve for the step up in trip, which he has done. He will also probably be a bit better left-handed. He is in the Neptune
at Cheltenham but we might also put him in some of the handicaps. - David Pipe, trainer.

NOTE-BOOK
3453 progressed into a smart hurdler last term, taking the Coral Cup before beating At Fishers Cross in the Grade 1 Stayers' Hurdle at Aintree. On the face of it this was a disappointing chase debut, but there was little wrong with
his jumping and he is sure to step up on this over a longer trip.
5169 , the narrow winner of the Coral Cup, was stepping up in both trip and grade. He was sweating badly before the start and did not jump that fluently through the early stages, but responded well to pressure in the straight and,
once he forced his head in front at the last, was always going to hold on. The plan was to go chasing next year, but connections might have to reconsider. He was quoted at between 10-1 and 16-1 for next years World
Hurdle after this.
4752 , who had run well at this course in the past, took quite a strong hold but pulled out plenty for pressure and kept on in great style to hold off the runner-up. Connections reported afterwards they had protected Nico de
Boinville's allowance by not letting him ride the previous week to make sure be claimed 5lb and, considering the margin of victory, that looked a smart move.
4025 was 21lb better off with Saphir Du Rheu for a 9l defeat at Sandown in December 2013, but was unable to turn things around. He moved smoothly through the race but a bad mistake at the last, when looking to challenge,
may have cost him. This was his first defeat at the track on his fourth visit but is an improving type with a bright future.
3369 deservedly made it third-time lucky for the season and won well. He got warm beforehand, but was ideally placed when the gallop began to lift and was much the best here. The handicapper will now do his bit, but he's still
just a 5-y-o and can remain competitive back in big field handicaps for the remainder of the season.
2949 looks every inch a staying chaser and doesnt give his hurdles much respect. He lacked the pace to win this, not really improving on his reappearance effort, and hell surely be sent over fences now.
2490 , who got a little warm beforehand, is a real chasing type and he caught the eye travelling powerfully on the inside nearing three out. His hurdling from thereon in rather let him down, but he kept on well under top weight and
clearly still has some mileage in him over hurdles.
5350 wasn't disgraced in the EBF Final when last seen and was the one punters wanted to side with against the market leader. He came clear with the runner-up heading to the final obstacle before getting nicely on top late on.
This win confirmed he is versatile with regards to going and he stays 2m4f strongly. That's it for him until the autumn now and he'll go chasing then.
4663 , both of whose wins had come over this trip on heavy ground, came to have his chance two out but was unable to go with the winner from that point and was just run out of the placings near the finish. He should make a
nice novice chaser next season.
4267 maintained his unbeaten course record with a bloodless success. He got found out in decent company at Cheltenham last time, but was previously 2-2 here and he laughed at these rivals en route to resuming winning
ways. This future chasing type is versatile regarding ground and should be high on confidence again. The final of this series at Sandown next month looks tailor-made for him.

QUOTES
3453 Whisper didn't like this ground, it's too tacky for him. He'll do a lot better on good ground - Patrick Harty, assistant to Nicky Henderson.
5169 That was a brave horse to do that because it turned into a tough race. He has had two mega battles in his last two races. We wanted to try three miles now because it would almost certainly give us a clue about where we
go next season, which is almost certainly chasing.-Nicky Henderson, trainer.
4752 That was getting tight and I knew who it was on the other horse. Nico was great. That's the best 5lb in the country and we were always going to use it this week. We looked after him and stopped him riding a week ago to
protect that claim as we knew we would have three or four horses running this week with near top weight and 5lb is 5lb in a handicap like that.-Nicky Henderson, trainer.
5350 We will draw the line with him now for the season and that will be the last time he jumps hurdles, or at least I hope so because the only way he will be doing it again is if he does not jump fences in the autumn. - Nicky
Henderson, trainer
4267 Whisper is a very nice horse and I think better ground will suit him better as he is short of pace. I think the plan might be to go for the final of this race at Sandown in a couple of weeks time. - Andrew Tinkler, jockey,

NOTE-BOOK
4258amight have preferred it a bit easier underfoot too. He is probably not as good as he was but it is hard to knock this performance and arguably this distance is better for him than 3m. He is keeping his form, evidently retains
enthusiasm, and is not finished yet, though the drying conditions henceforth may restrict his plans.
3823ahas become something of an enigma. Winner of this race in 2012 and runner-up in 2013, he ran poorly in the race a year ago when odds on favourite. A nine time winner over hurdles, three times at Grade 1 level, he had
cheek-pieces back on here after blinkers had failed to have the desired effect at Leopardstown last month. He set off in front and jumped well most of the way. However, he was done with after fluffing two out.
3354awas struggling to make any impact from a long way out.
2847a would probably have preferred softer ground. His fall was uncharacteristic and he had leapt with vigour in his win at Navan. It is impossible to say what might have happened but he has a rating of 13lb higher than the
winner's.
2391a had a really soft lead and found enough to win a race that was his to lose at the weights. He probably needed more of a dig underfoot than he got but what was impressive was how he hurdled and he got a good tactical
ride. One cannot go overboard - the runner-up is rated 35lb his inferior - but this was a reassuring performance. Against that, he seems to thrive when fresh and might not be one to keep his form for the rest of the
campaign.
4312a was rightly forgiven his Gowran flop in the Galmoy but this was worryingly poor; indeed he looks as if he might be gone at the game. He appeared uninterested for most of the race and was the first horse beaten. That he
finished second is nothing to boast about as the other two were getting tired. His career looks up in the air at the moment.
3866a was the clear form pick but he was struggling from half-way and was being given reminders after a mistake at the ninth. He came under serious pressure five out and soon dropped away, being eased and finishing tailed
off. Post race examination revealed nothing.
3374a grasped the opportunity to record his first victory since last season's Hatton's Grace. In the interim he had finished second on five occasions, the latest in this term's Hatton's Grace, behind Jezki who is due to take on
Hurricane Fly in the final-day feature. Held up before being produced on the run to the last Zaidpour ultimately had little trouble in getting the better of Rule The World, who also behind him in the 2m4f Fairyhouse Grade 1.

NOTE-BOOK
3181 , winner of a Grade 1 hurdle at Auteuil last time, travelled strongly throughout and could have done with a lead for longer as, having gone on looking all over the winner, he started to idle and was reeled in close home. By his
own admission, Sam Twiston-Davies said he should have tried to avoid getting into a battle with the winner.
2216a, who has a good record fresh, gave Paul Nicholls his biggest success to date in France. He shadowed the runner-up before surging clear on the run-in.
638a improved on his Prix la Barka run and stayed the trip well.
5169 , with the blinkers back on, set off in front this time and tried to dictate the pace. However, the favourite gave him no peace, and when they got to the straight, he could not respond to pressure. This was a little disappointing
but things did not go his way here.
4767 , minus the blinkers, ran to form with Annie Power and did well considering he didn't jump that fluently, being held up to get the trip on this first try at beyond 2m4f and finishing to good effect. He's long looked a stayer and
will presumably bid to follow up last season's Aintree Hurdle success.
4279 was back down in trip, having again finished runner-up to Annie Power over 2m4f at Cheltenham last time, and had the blinkers refitted. He looked likely to follow up his win in this race from 12 months ago when leading on
straightening for home, but was worn down. He's such a consistent performer and this was a another good effort, considering he was unsuited by the steady pace and wasn't helped when bumped by the winner late on. He
remains around a 10-1 shot for the World Hurdle.
3459 was minus the blinkers he wore when second to The New One over 2m1f in the International Hurdle here last month. A thoroughly consistent performer, he never stopped trying but the mare proved too smart. The Aintree
Hurdle, which he won last year, could prove his best chance of landing another top-grade win.
3083 is an incredibly consistent performer in top races and undoubtedly had his chance impeded by what happened heading to the last. That said, it's difficult to imagine the result would have been any different, and he does a
perfect job of giving the race a solid marker. His run also offers hope to those who fancy Annie Power for the Champion Hurdle, the mare who beat him at Ascot last time, albeit over 2m3f 110yds.
2665 , whose only defeat last season came when fourth in the Champion Hurdle, beat The New One in the Aintree Hurdle when last seen but was reappearing without the blinkers worn that day. Expected to benefit from the run by
his trainer, it was always going to be a tough ask attempting to give 11lb to the winner and he had no answer as she began to assert on the run-in. This was a fine reappearance and he looks sure to be a major player in all
the big 2m4f-plus hurdle races this season.

QUOTES
3181 Sam Twiston-Davies, rider of Zarkandar: He has run a blinder. In hindsight I would have tucked in behind Daryl and waited but I didn't want to get into a battle with Reve as I know how tough he is. He has idled in front and
didn't have time to come back at him.
3083 Daryl thought he had a chance after the final flight but the winner had too many gears. He has run well considering he was knocked sideways going to the last. You don't like to see that sort of thing happening. It's hard to
know what route we'll take with him now.-Nigel Twiston Davies, trainer.
2665 Daryl went a true gallop and it might turn out at the end of the season we had an impossible task. We have bumped into a good one. He might just come on for it and we can reapply the blinkers but I can't honestly say he
wants to step up in trip on that. - Tom Jonason, trainer's assistant.
Note:

Racing Post and Topspeed ratings have been adjusted for age and today's weight. With the exception of the 'Life' Racing Post rating, those ratings alongside the summary statistics show the best Racing
Post rating for each category to date starting two seasons ago i.e. if the current season is 2003 then ratings from 2001, 2002 and 2003 will count. In the summary statistics only ratings on the same
surface are included for flat races and only races over the same obstacles are included for jumps races. The abbreviations H,L and P indicate a horse's style of running, H-Held up, L-Led, P-Pressed
leaders. The abbreviation 'awd' stands for average winning distance and indicates the average winning distance of a sire or dam's progeny. Average winning distance statistics do not include 2-y-o races.
The abbreviation 'aei' stands for average earnings index and indicates how much prize-money a sire or dam's progeny has earned compared with the average. The average is expressed as 1.0, therefore
an aei of 1.5 indicates that a sire's progeny has earned 1 1/2 times the average. The rtf% after a trainer's 14-day record indicates the percentage of a stable's representatives that have run to form in the
last 14 days.
