1: FADE IN.

EXT. JANE'S MOM APARTMENT - DAY

1a: FOREGROUND OUT OF FOCUS; FOCUS ON BACKGROUND: Camera


moves toward window on second floor of an old, brick
apartment's wall. (FOREGROUND) excavator coming from the
right side of frame moving construction waste to trash bin.

Camera continues to moves toward the window. Camera moves


through the window, now sees a dim-lighted hallway.

*SHOT 1A CONTINUES WITH SHOT 2

INT. JANE'S MOM APARTMENT - DAY


2: CAMERA FLOWS passes trash bag throws through A NARROW,
DARK HALLWAY TO JANE'S STUDIO APARTMENT. Some Trash Bag
falls to the side, trash inside falls out :

JANE'S apartment door is opened. Revealing JANE, 30,


skinny and short, in her almost emptied apartment (only left
with an old, 2 shelves wooden book case [a dusty box on
there] in front of window; On right corner of room, there is
an old, dark brown, wooden bed frame at another corner of
the room). She is (facing backward) throwing trash to her
side.

2a: Jane holds up an old rabbit doll, swinging it a bit.

JANE
Arughh.. What's this? Can't believe
mom kept so many useless things.

2b:Jane throws the old rabbit doll into the trash bag she's
holding.

Hears a knock on the door offscreen.

SECURITY GUARD (shows only his back), skinny, same height as


JANE, comes in from left side of frame, knocks on the door
on his left side.

JANE turns around, smiles. SECURITY GUARD speaks.

SECURITY GUARD
They're gonna close this building
down pretty soon. You should leave
now if you are done packing.

JANE
Yea I am just digging through my
mom's stuff to see if there's
anything to keep.

JANE nods.

SECURITY GUARD
By the way...I am sorry to hear
about her. If there's anything I
can do-

JANE
No, I'm fine. We weren't that close
anyway.

BEAT.

SECURITY GUARD look at the box.

SECURITY GUARD (CONT'D)


Don't forget that box.

JANE turns to look at the box too, and turns back to


SECURITY GUARD.

JANE
Oh.. just some of our old pictures,
they are all messed up anyway.

4: Sees box, filled with decayed photos (see one blurred


picture with JANE's MOM facing backward from camera, holding
LITTLE JANE, 3, in her arm while LITTLE JANE holds a new,
fluffed rabbit doll [same one from the box] in her arm ) ,
on the case.

SECURITY GUARD
Alright then..I am gonna check on
the other units, Just don't take
too long. I gotta lock this place
down.

JANE
Okay. I gotta go back to work too.

Hears shutting door sound offscreen.

EXT. JANE'S MOM APARTMENT - DAY

4c: Sees JANE coming out from the apartment building in


BACKGROUND. Excavator continues to pour construction waste
into the dumpster (recycle bin next to dumpster) in
FOREGROUND.

4d: Pans to an opened, emptied recycle bin next to the


dumpster.

6: Recycle sign on recycle bin morphs to TITLE: THE CYCLE


comes in.

EXT. BUSINESS DISTRICT - DAY

7: Business people walking on street in busy business


district (crowded with people). People are littering.

7a. CA of trash covered street.

8: JANE walks among people.

9: Couple of buses and cars passes by in front of JANE and


people next to her (left side of the frame). In each gap of
cars passing, sees they stop at the crosswalk, waiting for
the light to turn.

10b: JANE carelessly looking around. She notices the old


rabbit doll in the trash can next to her.

10c: Sees old rabbit doll in the trash can.

10d: Sees JANE's questioned expression. She looks aside back


to facing the street. Seconds later, she looks back over to
the trash can.

10e: Sees old rabbit doll no longer in the trash can


anymore.

10f: Sees JANE with even more confused expression.

15: Traffic light now turns green.

15a: Sees JANE slowly crossing the street, still with


questioned expression among other people who are walking.

EXT. JANE'S BUILDING - DAY

19: JANE walks inside as the building's sliding door closes


behind her. The building sign: Department of City Planning
street no: 2046

INT. CUBICLE -DAY

25: JANE puts down the coffee cup (underneath a circular


mirror). Phone rings and JANE goes to table offscreen.

26: Sees smoke from coffee cup is rising up.

27: PANS UP FROM COFFEE CUP: Sees the smoke is framing


around the mirror, which forms a skull figure from the
reflection in the mirror (clock and JANE putting on earpiece
as the eyes; the chair as nose; and binders underneath the
mirror as the teeth).

28: JANE picks up the phone.

JANE
Hi, Department of Community
Development. This is Jane.

MR. TOM (guy, around 60s), is heard.

MR. TOM
Janie...Janie, it's Mr. Tom. You
have to save our building...

28a: Shows a title card indicating: Jane Thames, Principal


City Planner. ( Dialogues keep continuing)

28b: Shows a poster (with new building model) on cubicle


wall.(Dialogues keep continuing)

28c: Shows petition letters on desk. (Dialogues keep


continuing)

MR. TOM (CONT'D)


I have written so many petition
letters....They never respond...
Our building is on today's
demolition list...Janie, you can
tell them to hold, can't you?

JANE
Calm down, Mr. Tom...we already
came to an agreement in the last
town hall meeting.You will get
enough compensation for a new
apartment.

Beat.

MR. TOM
I have been living there my whole
life...You lived there with your
mother when you were young...Now
she's passed away and left the
apartment to you. Is that how
you're gonna take care of it? How
could you be so indifferent?

MR. TOM hangs up the phone before JANE could reply.

JANE
Oh! Hel..hello?

28d: JANE hangs up the phone. She looks at the letter on her
left.

34a: JANE, annoyed, throws all the letters on desk to the


trash can.

34b: She tries to push the letters into the overloaded trash
can, even more annoyed.

JANE
ARUGHHH!!!
35: JANE approaches trash can and take out trash.

INT. OFFICE KITCHEN - DAY

36: JANE walks in kitchen.

The office kitchen is dim-lighted. There's several trash


bags, a small refrigerator, a small rounded desk next to
refrigerator, and a metal door mounted on the wall for
collecting of trash throughout the building.

37: JANE pulls the door open. She tries to fit the trash bag
in, but can't. The trash bag is twice her size.

38: She pushes harder.

39: JANE pushes even harder.

40: JANE exhausted, catching her breath.

42: She pushes harder, trash bag and her hands go through
the door.

43: JANE trips, both feet off the ground,

44: Sees JANE falls into the door.

45: POV OUTSIDE THE METAL DOOR:

Jane holds one hand up, tries to grasp onto something.

Trash falls out of the trash bag shattering around her.

EXT. TRASH PIT -DAY

46: FADE IN

47: JANE POV:

JANE opens her eyes, gloomy sky becomes clear.

48: She finds herself within a gigantic pit of trash bag.


End of JANE POV.

JANE
Where am I ?

49: Sees JANE in a gigantic trash bag pit

JANE
Hello? Anybody hear me? (Echoing)

50: JANE tries to swim to the side of the pit.

51: JANE reaches to to side of the pit. When she looks up,
she sees MRFs (trash bag form, hunch back, transparent, sees
trash inside).
52: ALIVED TRASH BAGS ignore JANE's presence, they continue
to find trash that is suitable for them. If it isn't
suitable, they throw them out. They consume them and become
less hunch back. Projection of a blurred image suddenly
appear behind the ALIVED TRASH BAGS' heads.

53: JANE scared.

54: She quickly climbs to the edge of the pit, tries to see
what's outside.

55: JANE can only see a long ladder down. But fog is
covering what is down there.

56: She climbs down the ladder.

EXT. EMPTY CITY STREET - DAY

57: JANE walks down the ladder. Confused. She moves forward.

58: Sees the entire underground city and the trash pit in
the middle. Underground city is filled with old buildings.
Some buildings have bamboo fences covering the exterior wall
(construction). Trash pit is in the middle of the
surrounding old buildings.

59: JANE walks empty streets through the old buildings,


observing.

62: Sees trash bags on the side of street coming alive,


becomes ALIVED TASH BAGS. Face is formed (skull-like). They
are forming into a hunch back looking. They start chasing
JANE.

62a: DOLL (same old rabbit doll from the apartment), torn,
saggy body, sitting on the right side of the street, turns
to look at JANE who's walking down the street. He gets up.

64: DOLL, rabbit-looking, torn, saggy body, runs toward


JANE.

DOLL
Quick!

65: DOLL grabs JANE's hand, though JANE resists bit and want
to step back.

JANE
(Gasp) Who are you? Where are we
going?

But DOLL pulls her away and starts running.

DOLL
Run! I will explain later!

66: DOLL and JANE run along the street.


67: JANE looks back while they are running away.

68: More and more ALIVED TRASH BAGS are filling up the
street. All chasing after JANE and DOLL.

EXT. NARROW ALLEY WAY - DAY

69: DOLL drags JANE to turn to the corner to a narrow alley


between old buildings. Trash bags on the side.

70: They both are running in the narrow alley.

71: DOLL tears down trash bag (trash revealing out), and
throw behind them.

72: ALIVED TRASH BAGS that are chasing them, now are
distracted by the trash that DOLL threw. They stop chasing
and dig through the trash.

73: At the end of the narrow alley, comes to another cross


street.

EXT. EMPTY CITY STREET - DAY

74: DOLL and JANE exits the other end of the alley. They
come to the cross street, finally stop. DOLL turns around to
JANE.

75:

DOLL
We are safer here...as long as they
have trash to dig through, they
won't bother us.

76:

JANE
WHAT IS THIS PLACE? I was throwing
trash out, and the next thing I
knew, I was... HERE.

77: DOLL and JANE walk along the street (toward the trash
bag pit direction), sees along street there are many ALIVED
TRASH BAGS on the side.

78: Sees both of them walking.

DOLL
You are in the in-between... below
the earth and above..what I heard
to be the gloomiest place. No
living thing can survive.

JANE
And...and what are those...trash
bags?
DOLL
They were actually bags of trash
you humans threw away. They come to
look like that after some years
down here.

79: ALIVED TRASH BAG (on the street where JANE and DOLL are
standing) is eating a milk carton, an image is projected
behind its head.

80: Shows the image a blurred mother figure pouring milk


from the carton to a blurred boy's figure's bowl.

81:

JANE
Wait...WHAT?

82: Shows another ALIVED TRASH BAG eating a ring. projects


an image behind its head. DOLL's voice offscreen.

DOLL
They suck in memories that they
found in human trash, and recycle
them to form their own.

83: Shows the projected image behind the ALIVED TRASH BAG
shows two blurred figures (one figure opens a ring case, the
other figure hugs the first figure).

84:

DOLL
But now, we have to go to the
"Memorium" to get you out of here.

INT. MEMORIUM - DAY

85: Shows the Memorium, dim-lighted, square-shaped, huge. On


the wall, there are numerous square spaces that contain
boxes. DOLL's offscreen voice.

DOLL (CONT'D)
Listen to me carefully, the only
way for you to go back is to get
your memory box that is stored in
the "Memorium". Everyone has their
own way of coming to this
place...and their own way of going
back out.

86: CLOSE UP SHOT on JANE's memory box on the wall, which


carved her name and her photo ( in her 30, just like the
present look) on it.

DOLL (CONT'D)
Once you open the box, it will tell
you how to get out of here.
EXT. EMPTY CITY STREET - DAY

87: An ALIVED TRASH BAG finishes eating its trash, turns


around to look at DOLL and JANE as they pass by it.
Offscreen Dialogue.

JANE
But.. WHY AM I here in the first
place?

88: DOLL and JANE, in the foreground of frame, unaware that


ALIVED TRASH BAG, in the background, is approaching them.

DOLL
It might be... a last calling of
something you threw away...
whatever it is, it must have a
really strong connection to your
past.

89: ALIVED TRASH BAG's hand suddenly gets a hold of JANE's


right side of the skirt.

90: JANE and DOLL turn around to see ALIVED TRASH BAG. JANE
nervously shakes off ALIVED TRASH BAG, but not working.

JANE
GET OFF ME! GET OFF ME!

OFFSCREEN. Suddenly loud opening trash pit door noise


echoing throughout the city. ALIVED TRASH BAG, that's
holding JANE's skirt earlier, scared, let go. Trying to run
away.

91: DOLL and JANE turn around to see the trash bag pit.

EXT. TRASH PIT -DAY

91a: The high-striker like scale on the side of the pit


reaches its top. The sign on it says: "Overloading: pits
will open"

92: Sees Trash bags falling down quickly, and a huge force
sucking trash bags down. ALIVED TRASH BAGS on the side of
pit is torn apart (exploding into pieces of trash).

EXT. EMPTY CITY STREET-DAY

93:

DOLL(TO JANE)
Oh No No No!...The trash pit is
overloaded ...run...we have to get
to the "Memorium" now!.. Once the
gate underneath the pit opens,
it'll suck everything in.

Sees JANE and DOLL running among ALIVED TRASH BAGS to the
opposite direction of the street. The force of suction
rapidly picks up many ALIVED TRASH BAGS, trash bags behind
JANE and DOLL. Both of them are then also picked up by the
force.

94: Sees the destruction of the city: buildings collapsing,


and pieces suck into the trash pit hole. trash bags, also
get sucked in.

INT. MEMORIUM - DAY

94a: boxes inside the memorium is shaking.

94b: The memorium finally collapse.

94c: old photos fly out of Jane's box.

INT. TRASH BAG PIT HOLE

95: SLOW MOTION: JANE and DOLL falling among other trash.
Inside the deep hole are many layers occupied by ALIVED
TRASH BAGS. They have nests to catch the trash that is
falling through.

EXT. LANDFILL - DAY

96: JANE and DOLL gets up from the ground of landfill. Shows
mounts of undefinable trash in the foreground. Landfill is
an island, with an municipal incinerator (playing a mellow
lalluby song) in the middle of the land. Black smoke coming
out from the chimney of the incinerator. Dusty air. Hear
people speaking, arguing, crying,and laughing in the air.
But no one is around. Trash and pictures still falling down
from the hole.

97:

Jane getting up.

JANE
Geez... That hurts..

BEAT.

JANE (CONT'D)
Don't tell me this is..

DOLL nods.

DOLL
..the last layer, the gloomiest
place...

JANE walks offscreen.


98: JANE, standing at the seashore of the landfill island,
looks toward the ocean.

JANE
Great...Now I am really stuck.

99: Sees an dirty ocean (dirt color) , with trash floating.

100: JANE looks down to notice a familiar picture at the


shoreline of the island. She picks it up.

101: Sees a decayed photo: On the photo is JANE's MOM


holding LITTLE JANE,3, in her arm while LITTLE JANE is
holding the rabbit doll (DOLL) -> same one as the one from
the apartment's box of photos.

102: JANE turns around to DOLL. Sees he walks closer toward


the incinerator.

EXT. INCINERATOR - DAY

103: DOLL walks toward the opened door of the incinerator.


He stops at the front of door.

104: Thru door: Sees 3 fireplaces interior, burning trash.

107: He then turns to look at JANE (who is also looking at


him), in the far distance.

DOLL
Look... I think I found a way to
get you out.

He turns to look at incinerator. then turns back to JANE.

DOLL
I guess this is goodbye now.

DOLL smiles, turns around and begin walking inside the


incinerator.

110:

JANE
Wait!What are you doing?

JANE looks at incinerator.

111: Sees black smoke coming out from chimney of


incinerator.

JANE, knowing what DOLL is going to do, immediately runs


toward to the incinerator.

JANE
Don't go in there!

112: She trips over and falls on the ground. She gets back
up and runs toward to the incinerator.

113: Door closing slowly after DOLL goes in.

When JANE approached to the door. It is too late, door


closing, only see through the gap between the closing door:
DOLL walking toward a fireplace. Door closes.

JANE, uncertained what to do now that she is alone, looks


around the landfill. Scared.

EXT. LANDFILL - DAY

114: Water level is rising up, as the landfill island is


getting smaller and smaller.

JANE runs toward to the edge of the island.

115: Sees she looks to the left, right, and up, worried.
Sees WHITE SMOKE, shape of DOLL, comes out from chimney of
incinerator.

EXT. INCINERATOR - DAY

116: Follows WHITE SMOKE DOLL moving toward JANE.

117: WHITE SMOKE DOLL wraps around JANE's hand. He lifts her
up to the air.

118: WHITE SMOKE DOLL and JANE in air.

DOLL
Jane, everything has its expiration
date. I know I'm long expired and
that's why you forgot about
me...When things expire, they're
forgotten and left behind in the
landfill for eternity, like me..
But it doesn't have to be that way,
they can get a second chance! After
all it's a cycle.

EXT. BUSINESS DISTRICT - DAY

119: FADE IN

120: Sees JANE zones back in.

121: She stands on the side of crosswalk (waiting for the


light to turn), crowded with people behind her.

122: She looks around her, confused of what just happened.

126: Shows JANE's hand is grasping something in her hand.

127: JANE looks down at the photo that she is now holding.

128: Shows JANE is holding the decayed picture of LITTLE


JANE and DOLL (same one as in the LANDFILL & the one from
the apartment's box of photos).

130: JANE remembers that her box of photos that are left
behind in the apartment. She whispers.

JANE
The photos....

131: JANE turns around, pushes her way out of the crowd, and
runs out.

132: FOLLOW SHOT: JANE runs back to her old apartment.

EXT. JANE'S MOM APARTMENT BUILDING - DAY

132a: JANE continues running pass old buildings.

133: She runs toward her apartment, where caution tape is


surrounding her apartments block. She goes under the caution
tape. She runs straight into her apartment building.

135a: Sees excavators next to JANE's MOM APARTMENT BUILDING


are loading up.

INT. JANE'S MOM APARTMENT - DAY

136: JANE opens the door to her apartment.

137: Sees a bed frame on the right corner, 2 shelves


bookcase in front of the window. Outside window, excavators
are seen.

138: She walks toward to the bookcase, where the box of


photos is on the 2nd shelf).She takes out decayed photos
from the box.

139: Sees JANE's hand holding and flipping through the


pictures: One with LITTLE JANE, 1, lying on bed, and DOLL is
next to LITTLE JANE (color is almost faded out); flips to
another one with LITTLE JANE, 3, holding DOLL on one hand,
while another hand holding a person's hand on the side
(person not shown).

140: Sees JANE smiles. Suddenly the building shakes, JANE


raises her head to see what is happening outside through the
window.

141: Sees JANE's surprised expression.

143: Shows shadow of wrecking ball coming closer to JANE's


shadow on the apartment wall.

CUT.

FADE IN

INSERT TITLE CARD: It doesn't have to be that way, they can


get a second chance. After all it's a cycle.

147: REWINDING ALL THE SEQUENCES (wrecking ball crashing


apartment -> Jane running back to apartment -> White smoke
Doll brings Jane up in Landfill -> Jane and Doll suck into
hole -> Jane and Doll walk on the city street -> Jane pushes
trash bag in office kitchen -> Jane in the cubicle -> Jane
standing in front of crosswalk -> Jane in apartment)

INT. JANE'S MOM APARTMENT - DAY

148: JANE holding old rabbit doll (DOLL) by one ear again,
standing in front of the box of decayed photos.

149: Jane back in the apartment again. She looks down to the
DOLL.

150:JANE hugs Doll.

CUT TO BLACK.

FADE OUT
