EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

HPCL is a Government of India Enterprise with a Navratna Status, and a Fortune 500 and
Forbes 2000 company, with an annual turnover of Rs. 1,90,048 Crores and sales/income from
operations of Rs. 2,15,675 Crores (US$ 39.726 Billions) during FY 2012-13, having about
20% Marketing share in India among a strong market infrastructure.
HPCL owns and operates one of the largest Lube Refineries in India producing Lube Base
Oils (LBO) of international standards, with an approximate capacity of 350 Thousand Metric
Tons per annum. This Lube Refinery accounts for over 1/3rd of the Indias total LBO
production. Presently HPCL produces more than 300 grades of Lubes, Specialties and
Greases.
The Mumbai refinery has a capacity of 6.5 Million Metric Tons Per Annum (MMTPA)
HPCL lay a special and sustained emphasis on conducting its affairs within the policy
framework of the Government of India, statutory regulations and the internal procedures in a
transparent manner. Being an Undertaking of the Government of India, HPCL have
periodically reviewed by several external authorities such as the Comptroller &Auditor
General of India (CAG), the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and the Parliamentary
Committees. HPCL also has an independent mechanism of monitoring and auditing its
processes through various internal departments such as the Internal Audit and Vigilance
Departments.
HPCLs aim to share with us their initiatives, efforts and performance towards Sustainable
Development, which is no longer an option, but a necessity. Their commitment to
sustainability has been strong and enduring. There is commitment embedded in everything
they do and their ability to evolve and grow has strengthened the Corporation over time,
The activities have been designed with the aim of ensuring good environment management.
They have constantly endeavored to upgrade the environmental performance of their
operations by adopting new state-of-the-art technologies and incorporating world class
practices. HPCL have created systems that constantly strive to upgrade the health and safety
of their workforce. HPCL have engaged with local communities in a constructive manner to
earn societal benefit.
