1st SPEAKER (OPPOSITION) 6 MINUTES

Thank You madam/mr. speaker

SPEAK SLOWLY!
A very good morning to Madam /Mr. Speaker, honorable judges,
members of the government team, time-keeper and members of
the house. The motion of todays debate is this house believes
that VIRTUAL LEARNING IS BETTER THAN TEACHERS .
We, the opposition, are strongly against this motion.
Members of the house, we the opposition agree with the
definitions proposed by the government team:
Nevertheless, we the opposition strongly disagree with todays
motion based on the following points;
1. The crucial role of a teacher in effective learning
2. Skills required in effective learning
3. Monitoring and evaluating learning

I will be addressing the first point. My second speaker, will

address the second and third points. Whereas the third speaker
will rebut and refute the governments points so that the truth is
revealed and you are not misled by them.
Members of the House,
Before I enter into the Opposition first argument in detail, I would
like to refute some of the points put forth by the Honourable
Prime Minister:
LISTEN TO WHAT THEY SAY AND TAKE NOTES HERE:
1. He claimed that.

Why it is inaccurate, unbelievable, false or that you will deal with

the issue later in your speech.
2. The Prime Minister also stated that.
Why it is inaccurate, unbelievable, false or that you will deal with
the issue later in your speech.
SLOW DOWN!!
My dearest opponent, you have to face the fact that a machine
can never ever take over the place of a teacher. This is because a
teacher is there for you when you are down and de motivated.
Teachers have feelings and empathies. As human beings, we need
these as we continue our quest for knowledge.
Members of the House,
Allow me to proceed with our first argument. In our arguments we
stress on the importance of effective learning . Effective learning
is when a student is able to remember, understand and apply
information.
Thus, teachers share a significant role in preparing students for
this. The Australian professional Standard for teachers reflect and
build on national and international evidence that a teachers
effectiveness has a powerful impact on students. Teachers
especially effective teachers can be a source of inspiration and
equally importantly, provide a dependable and consistent
influence on students as they make choices about further
education, work and life. All these cannot I repeat CANNOT BE
REPLACED BY MACHINES OR COMPUTERS!!!!
Members of the House,

One of the main goals of the Malaysian Education is to have a

world class system of education. This clearly indicated in recently
introduced Malaysian Education Transformation Blueprint. The
greatest resource to materialize this is the teachers. Teachers
account the vast majority of expenditure in school education and
have the greatest impact on student learning, far outweighs the
impact of any other education tools such as a Frog VLE. No doubt
Frog VLE has enhanced the learning in Malaysian students
however, a teacher is still indeed

Most of the virtual learning software and websites are in English.

For countries whereby the medium of instruction is not English
such as Malaysia, this is a huge setback should learning be
replaced by virtual learning. While we do have software and
websites designed in our own language, it would definitely not be
at par with the ones in English. Hence, students who are not
competent in English will encounter difficulties trying to acquire
the lessons.
On the contrary, situations are different in classrooms whereby
teachers are available.
H. Douglas Brown in 2007 mentioned that teachers can play many
roles in the course of teaching effectively. Thus, this
