ST will let Ss into the classroom after the bell rings at the end of lunch and take
attendance. *Send runner (Alejandra).
*LST Jaedyn, Mafirah, Matthew, Geronimo, Sequanna remind them that it is time to
go to LST
Instruct students, We are going to move on to our weekly spelling tests to confirm that
you have retained the new spelling patterns we have learned this week. Once again, I will
call your group to the back table with a pencil and eraser. Find a spot quietly, take a piece
of paper, write your name, and number your paper from 1-10.

Ask the students if they need any words repeated. (Repeat if necessary). Ask them to hand
in their test, return to their seats, and find a book to read quietly.
I am now going to call up the EI group (Jaedyn, Andrianne, Diego, Molina, Ashley,
Darian, Amy, Mafira, Sharifa, Stephanie, Richard, Robby).
Wait for the last group to be seated, giving them 1 minute to quiet down.
*make sure everyone has a piece of paper and has the numbers down the side.
I will say the word, give it to you in a sentence, and repeat the word again.

1. Eighteen. My sister turns eighteen next month. Eighteen.


2. Receipt. Can I have my receipt, please? Receipt.
3. Niece. My niece, Sabrina, is three years old. Niece.
4. Ceiling. I was staring at the ceiling when my teacher called on me. Ceiling.
5. Weird. The weather has been weird lately! Weird.
6. Reign. Kings use to reign over ancient lands. Reign.
7. Shield. A king would use his shield during war. Shield.
8. Mischief. Dont get into mischief during recess! Mischief.
9. Seize. Seize the day! Seize.

Ask the students if they need any words repeated. (Repeat if necessary). Ask them to hand
in their test, return to their seats, and find a book to read quietly. Ask for the past tense
group to come up (Matthew, Sequanna, Marius, Jermaine, Thaomy, Alisson, Vida, Tristan,
Tina).
Wait for the last group to be seated. Make sure everyone is quietly reading.

I am going to give you one of the words, and you have to give me the past tense of the
word. I will give you ONE example (make sure they have their pencils down), and I do
not want you to write this down. I will say the present tense, sleep and I expect you to
write down the past tense, slept on your paper. None of these words end in ed like last
weeks words. I am not going to say the present tense of the word, so please pay attention
carefully so you can write the past tense of the word!

Class meeting
Time:
Grade 4 and 5, Thank you for behaving well and staying on task. I hope your books were
good, but now we must move on to our class meeting. Check to see if students are putting
their books away. Now we can all move our seats to form a circle so we are all looking at
each other. I expect everyone to respect their classmates and be good listeners. Everyone
gets an option to share, so please only speak when you have the maraca.
Students may ask how much they can share. *Limit to 3 bouquets or beefs (cant be all
beefs!).
