1. What do you know about POSCOs activities in Brazil and in Latin America?
POSCO expanded its market to Brazil, through VALE and KOBRASCO. Also in Brazil POSCO started a
joint-venture with VALE and Dongkuk, where VALE holds 50%, Dongkuk 30% and POSCO gets 20% of
the Steel Mill stocks in Ceara. The Steel Mill started to be built in December of 2011 and it is planned to
finish in 2015 with an annual capacity of 3 million tons in its first phase.
In Latin America as well, POSCO established a venture with Colombia, to develop iron ore and coal
resources, also established a joint with Bolivia to produce lithium battery, what ensures a more stable
supply of key materials.

2. Why are you applying for the POSCO Internship Program?

Since I have set my goal to work in a company that the acting field is raw resources , and since POSCO
operates in an area that is my purpose to work in the future ; I have been looking forward for an opportunity
to work with it. Besides, it will be the first step in my career and to reach my future goals . Also I am certain
that I have much to learn from POSCO, and get experience from the company. In addition, POSCO is a
reputable company in South Korea and in Brazil as well. Therefore, having an internship in that company
means an outstanding experience in my life.

3. What do you want to learn from the company and also what do you contribute for
the company?
I want to learn how the company deals with its production and what are the Engineers responsibilities, how
do they deal with daily problems, what are their goals, and how can they contribute to the company. Also I
want to learn the company culture, how the company grew, what was the key for that growth.
During my academic life I worked in an automation project to solve a problem from one of the mining
companies in my region. And I have been working in projects related to the same field that POSCO works
in as well. Furthermore, I have a strong ability to work in a group; I am easy and eager to learn. I will make
myself open for any experience that POSCO can offer to me.

4. What do you think is the biggest strength of POSCO?

The biggest strength of POSCO is to operate in a wide open market, with essentially no import barriers,
specially when China started its rapid growth. POSCO faced it as a challenge not as threat, therefore made
China its new and potential market. Nowadays China, the biggest steel importer in the world, can receive a
shipment from POSCOs steel mill, from Pohang, in one day, thus is profitable to negotiate, and to export.
Also, POSCO consider a future collapse of North Korea communist government, or a future union,
consequently it would be a giant market, for railroads, and the new region would require a massive amount
of steel, and resources for vehicles and to make up and follow the new developed era.
In conclusion, POSCO strength lies in no barriers or borders to import. All markets are a potential market.
