URGENT!

PLEASE CONSIDER PRAYERFULLY

A phone call from Tim Bright in Ghana confirms that the quota has
been granted to Ghana Christian College/ and Tim's name has been
/
approved to fill the quota. Praise God that this has finally been
accomplished.

Tim has been busy serving in various capacities during this waiting

period. While in Togo, he did calling/ preaching, and teaching

with the only Christian Church evangelist in Togo.

The Brights were able to return to Ghana in time for Tim to serve
as the main speaker for the Sunyani Regional Christian Church
Christmas Convention, speaking four times, and assisting with

workshops.

Tim preached for Abeka church on December 29th; and

had the devotional time for that church on Jan. 5th.

The Brights were able to have Christmas with two of the other
missionaries serving at Ghana Christmas College, Dorothy Eunson
and Brian Jennings. All the family was involved with numerous
school and church activities over the holiday.

Now, for our URGENT request. The Brights have been asked to pay
their house rent for a year in advance, which amounts to $4200.
Other missionaries have told us that their landlord is being very
lenient with them, because generally landlords ask for 2 or even

3 years in advance.

This funding is needed as soon as possible,

and quite frankly, we do not have this amount in Bright Outreach

treasury.

If there is any

help financially that your church, Bible School

class, or individuals can give, it would certainly be appreciated,

Please continue to pray for the Brights, as they labor on the
field in Ghana. Tim will be assisting with teaching in some of
the classes this semester.

In His service,

Lois Nichols, Forwarding Agent

Greetings from Ghana. While the winter months with their cold crisp
air, falling snow, and wintry chill spread over many parts of America
at this time of the year, Ghana is experiencing some of her warmer

days.

Although the days grow shorter by 15 minutes or so, the weather

becomes very hot in November & December in West Africa. However,

Christmas is celebrated with festivities, caroling, conventions, and

many other celebrations. Thanksgiving is not celebrated in Ghana

except on the American Embassy grounds for Americans. The day after
Christmas Ghanaians celebrate boxing day, an important sports day.

New

Year's comes with fireworks and more celebration.

We are anticipating this time with much joy in our hearts.

Tim has

been invited to speak at the Christmas Convention at Sunyani, Dec.

20-23.
want -to-participate in the Harvest days, on Dec. 1st at Abeka
Christian Church where we attend. However, our_ti_me in Ghanajay be
limited due to problems qetting_^ur residence permit. As of today,

(Oct. 16th) we are being told we must leave Ghana and be gone for 3 or
4 weeks. Our plan is to leave for Lome', Togo, the next country east

of Ghana.

We are making arrangements for re-entry to Ghana sometime

near the end of November. We are also arranging a place to stay. As

it stands now from the information we have, the quota committee is very
aware that we are here, and that Ghana Christian College is trying to
expand the quota. The quota committee has no plans to discuss the
Ghana Christian College quota in October, but we hope it will be placed

on the agenda in November.

If not, then we will come back to Ghana and

make a decision as to what our future here will be. Please pray that
Mr. Adjei, the principal of Ghana Christian College, will be able to
give the quota committee a clear outline and precise plans for having
us come to Ghana Christian College.

If he cannot do

take the place of someone on furlough, it may be very doubtful for us

to remain here. The quota committee will decide whether or not to put
Ghana Christian College on their agenda on Oct. 29th. Please continue
to pray about the quota situation.

By the time you receive this letter, we will be in Togo, a country 3us
east of Ghana. We will remain there to see what will happen on the

quota space for Ghana Christian College. Then we will return to Ghana,
Lord willing, around the end of November. We invite you to pray with
us daily that God will grant us a way to stay here, if we are to
in this country.

The children are doing fine.

It has been a major

to make at Ghana International School where they attend. They

of the children have as many as 13 different classes. They are all
participating in a compulsory extra-curricular activity.

Tai is in

drama c?ub, Lthan on the swim club, Tasha is ="1 trying to decide,
but has narrowed it down to library or newspaper club.

Teresa is in

the keep-fit club. Twyla teaches English on levels similar to 7 10th

grades, sponsors the newspaper club, and is

Ghana, served at church camp, visited villages, assisted building and

photographed an irrigation project at Panu, Ghana, helped with

maintainance at Ghana Christian College, and talked with people in the
streets and market places. There are baptisms in most of the churches
almost every week. In one village a man named Christov proclaimed at

the end of Tim's sermon that he wanted baptism that day. Ghana
Christian College also is enjoying one of her finest years, with 59
students enrolled. It is thrilling to share in the growing work of
Ghana.

We as a family have come to Ghana knowing that God has led us here all
the way. From our plane flights and getting through customs to

unpacking our container items and finding a'house, we have experienced

God's providential care.

We have ridden in taxis, buses, and mini vans

to get to our destinations, all with the sense of awe at how God takes

care of us.

Like anyone else, we become frustrated at times having to

bargain with a taxi driver over the right price.

with us and has brought us here for a purpose

But we know God is

that of service and

ministry.

We have sacrificed many of our material items either giving them away
or leaving them behind.

It we should need to leave Ghana we are

prepared to make the same choices.

It is hard, but God never promised

us an easy road, but that by His strength and power we would have
enough.

So at this time of the year we rejoice with the celebration of

the birth of Christ.

God knew what would befall His only begotten Son,

God knew there was a cross ahead. But He loved us enough even though
we don't deserve it. God made it possible to have complete unity with
Him. That's why He gave us Jesus. At this time of Thanksgiving,
Christmas, and New Year's, as you are with family and friends, please

share with this joy we have of God's priceless gift. We send our very
best wishes and greetings. May the God of peace give you His eternal
peace.

Before we close, we should mention that our sons, Kris and Lance, are
in college finishing their studies.

Kris returned to Johnson Bible

College this fall where he is concluding his wolk towards a computer

degree.
Lance is a Senior at Cincinnati Bible College, plays on the
basketball team, and is engaged to be married.
We are very blessed as
parents of two wonderful sons.

We would like to share a blessing written from one of them as we

boarded the plane to come to Ghana.
"Consider how the lilies grow.
They do not labor or spin.
Yet I tell you, not Solomon in all his
splendor was dressed like one of these.
If that is how God clothes the
grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into
the fire, how much more will he clothe you, 0 man of l i t t l e faithl
And

do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink, do not worry about
it.
For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father
knows that you need them.
But seek His Kingdom, and all these things
will be given to you as well."

Matt.

6:28-33.

Consider your undyinq

devotion for Jesus Christ and the work He nas prepared for you.
This has become our theme of life as we claim this passage every day.
May God add all His blessings to you as well.
Our love to all,
Tim & Twyla Bright Family

TRIPS TO THE VTLLfiGESs

Feb. 29th and March 1st Tim Bright and Brian

Jennings went to a small village of Akuman for
the showing of a Genesis Project movie, "The
Life of Christ." It is a narrative of Christ':
life on this earth according to the Gospel
of Luke. This village has reached all but
about 15 people. It was great to see a young
church growing and active.
I

The next church we went to visit was a new church planting effort in the village of

Sempoa about 6 hours north of Accra. The final 36 miles took 2^ hours to get there.
Sempoa is a small fishing village near the Volta Lake (one of the largest manmade lakes
in the world). We showed the Jesus movie (as it is called) Friday and Saturday night,

March 27 and 28th. On the 27th we showed it to over 500 people as Tim preached in betw^n
reel changes. We had trouble getting our generator started (no electric in the village),
and two young men came to Tim stating that the idol priest had placed a curse on the tree
that the truck and generator were under. "I just prayed that God would open the way to

show the film."

The film was shown in their own language.

(over)

Saturday, we showed the film to about 250 people at the other end of the village.

That

was the actual area where the new church was being started. Another Christian Church was
sponsoring this new congregation. It was thrilling to receive nine new people immersed

into Christ.

God truly blessed the time we spent in the village and the new congregation

got off to a great start.

This was the church's first formal meeting.

Dear Friends of the Bright Family,

We would like to express our appreciation to each of you for all

that you did for Twyla while she was in the States. It is good

to know that so many are so supportive of the efforts of the Briaht

family in Ghana.

Following is a quick sketch of Twyla's accomplishments, with God's

help, during the six weeks:
8 presentations to churches

3 presentations to mission committees

3 presentations to women's groups

Mission speaker, team leader assistant, cook's helper, for a

week at Camp Christian

$5600, the total necessary, was given by God's people for purchase
of a vehicle

$1398 was given toward license and fees for transfer of the vehicle
This should cover all fees.

Had a dental check-up.

Had medical tests for heart problem. All tests came back good.
It appears Twyla's heart has healed, and she can continue as
usual, resting when she begins to feel the need.
Attended son lance's wedding.

Settled Teresa in a minister's home for the ccHning year, to finish

her senior year of high school, and possibly work part-time.
Stateside business accoitplished

Clothing, Bibles, watches, etc., purchased for family and friends

in Ghana. Twyla managed to find lots of good bargains.

Att^ded preachers' prayer breakfast.

Visited friends, relatives, and former co-workers.
Almost enough funds have been received to pay off the loan for the
past year's rent.

$2700 was given toward the year's rent due in Decerriber, for 1993.
Added to the $1500 already designated, this will pay the rent for
the year.

^ you can see, Twyla had a very busy time, and much was accomplished.
There are still some needs:

Pra^rs: Twyla teaching at Ghana International School, Tim teachina

at Ghana Christian College, the children as they attend school.

Increase in monthly support.

Funds for Tim and Tasha to come to the States in 1993.

Again, thank you, each and every one. You made Twyla's stay in

the States interesting, enjoyable, and a real blessing. Thanks

to all individuals and churches/ladies' groups who gave clothino,
toys, candy, etc., for the children.
