Purpose
To assist the ship staff in the setting and the verification of IG system lines, valves and equipment.
Scope
This applies to all vessels that are certified under Teekay Shipping Limiteds Document of
Compliance.
Responsibilities
Master
Ensure that IG system is used in accordance with users manuals, ISGOTT recommendations
and other company instructions.
Chief Officer
Ensuring that the entire IG system is at all times fit for its intended purpose, fully operational,
and used as required by users manuals, ISGOTT recommendations and other company
instructions.
Ensuring that the locking key for IG tank valves is retained in his care.
Ensuring that the IG system and its component parts are maintained as per the PMS and
manufacturers recommendations.
Ensuring that after the IG system has been used during operations that the fans are washed
according to manufacturers instruction manual.
Ensuring that correct vapour segregation is being followed as per voyage orders.
Procedure
Start up and operate IG system as per manufacturers guidance, users manuals (e.g. IG and
COW manuals), IMO publications, company instructions.
Refer to the indication board in the cargo control room for the status of all main and tank IG line
valves.
Verify valve settings during routine rounds of the system, and when handing over the watch
duty.
Follow the PMS to ensure that IG system, valves, scrubber, deck seal, fans, non-return valves,
PV valves, thermal PV valves, PV breaker, hi-jet risers, level sensors, pressure sensors, flow
sensors, alarms, fixed and portable oxygen analyzers, and associated equipment is fully
operational at all times.

In case of continued IG system failure, under advise of Teekay management, certain operations
may be resumed provided correct procedures are followed as per legislation or port
requirements.
