On Monday new international students will receive information on the practical side of becoming an official
student at TUT. In the afternoon students who have just arrived will register at the International Office in

Introduction to studying at TUT
On Tuesday all new international students will attend one General Study Information Session to find out
more about TUTs grading system and to learn how to enrol for courses and exams through the student
portal. The day will end with a city tour around Tampere (for those who have signed up).
Degree students are divided into groups according to their degree programme:

Study guidance at the faculties and IT Services and Security
On Wednesday three of TUTs international degree programmes will hold a session on programme-specific
and study-related matters. Degree students attend the session of their own degree programme. After the
study guidance sessions the orientation continues with an introduction to IT services and security and an
information session on Finnish language courses at TUT.

Introduction to Graduate Studies

The international office together with the degree programmes organise a course for new international
degree students. Study guidance sessions and the Introduction to IT services and security that are
organised during the orientation week are part of the course. The course continues after the orientation

Registration checklist
Pay the Student Union membership fee. Remember to use your personal
reference number!
Complete your registration at the International Office (remember to take your
passport, residence permit card and your address in Finland with you)
Spring 2013 graduates!: Present your original Bachelors degree certificate,
transcript of records and the English translations of the both documents at
registration
Pick up your student card from the Student Union Office (Main Building, 2nd
floor). The card costs 7 euros (cash only).
Activate your student card to function as a key card at one of the info desks on
campus (NOT the one in the Tietotalo building)
Pick up your basic user account and password from the IT Helpdesk (Main
Building, 2nd floor)
