Master of Education Degree Programme -2015/2016

Applications are invited for the Master of Education Degree programme conducted by the National
Institute of Education Maharagama.

Sri Lanka Principal Service (SLPS)
Sri Lanka Teacher Educator Service (SLTES)
Sri Lanka Education Administrator Service (SLEAS)
The Principals & Teachers of Pirivenas or Government approved schools
The Academic officers of the National Institute of Education or government approved Educational
Institutes

Required Qualifications:

A Post Graduate Diploma in Education with a minimum 05 B Passes or

A Bachelor of Education Degree with a minimum 05 B Passes or
A First Degree with a class and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education
and
Below 52 years of age on the date of closing of application

Part time ( Week ends and School holidays )

18 months

Medium:
The course is conducted in 03 media.( Sinhala/Tamil/ English Medium)
Medium & Instruction of the programme will be decided by the institution upon finalizing the
number of qualified candidates available for each center.

NIE has the authority in amending the above mentioned fee items without any prior information.
The course fee can be paid in two installments (Rs 35 000/= + 20 000/=)
Please note that the application fee and the Entrance Examination fee are not refunded.

Mode of selection:
Candidates are selected on the basis of marks obtained from the entrance examination and the
interview.

Application procedure :
Application should be typed in an A4 size sheet of paper using the given specimen application form
Application should be send with a 9x 4 size self addressed stamped envelop.
MEd 2015/2016 Batch , Center, and Medium should be legibly written on the left hand corner
of the envelop.
Applicant should pay Rs 1 200/= as application processing fee and the Entrance examination fee
to any branch of the Bank of Ceylon (BOC) in favour of the Director Generals account number
607628 at Bank of Ceylon Maharagama and the receipt obtained from the bank should be
enclosed with the application form.. (Money orders and cheques are not accepted)
Application should be sent through the relevant Head of the Institute under registered post to reach
the Director, Department of Teacher Education, NIE, Maharagama on or before 17.11.2014.
