Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), Bangladesh under the Ministry of Commerce is a

government agency of the country, entrusted with the responsibilities of promoting export of the
country. It is mainly responsible for:
Coordinating export development efforts at different sectors and production levels;
Formulating and adopting of policy and program for active promotion of exports;
Coordinating, monitoring and evaluating national export performance and analyzing
export trends;
Carrying out promotional activities in product development & expansion of supply
side capacity ;
Exploring markets of exportable's abroad;
Collecting and disseminating trade information to the stakeholders;
Organizing participation in international trade fairs abroad;
Imparting training for HRD ;
Conducting studies, surveys, research etc. for expansion and diversification of export
and Administering and monitoring of RMG quota.
EPB also assists the Ministry of Commerce in formulating policies related to export of the
country.
BOARD OF MANAGEMENT OF EPB
EPB is a semi-autonomous organization under the Ministry of Commerce of the Government of
Bangladesh. The affairs of the Bureau is administered by a Board of Management (BOM) where
the Honorable Minster for Commerce, Government of Bangladesh is the ex-officio Chairman 4
members representing different Chambers of Commerce & Trade Associations and 9 high
officials nominated by the Government representing trade related Ministries/Departments are
members of the Board.
Functions of the Bureau-- It shall be the functions of the Bureau---(a) To suggest to the government measures designed to provide efficient, adequate,
economic and co-ordinate plans and policies for promotion of exports from the country
by both private and public sectors.
(b) to explore and examine the potentials of export-oriented products within the country and
help ensure quality control of all exporters: and
(c) to co-ordinate the export efforts of various private and public sector organizations within
the country and provide necessary advice, information and assistance to such
organizations so as to enable them to participate in, or increase their export to, other
countries.

Without prejudice to the generality of the provision of sub-section (1), the Board may---

(a)Explore and examine markets of other countries with a view to promoting export of raw,
semi-finished and finished products from Bangladesh to such countries;
(b) Establish such regional or other offices, branches, agencies, display and or sale centers
within Bangladesh and, with prior approval of Government, abroad,
(c) Establish with the approval of the government, subsidiary organizations in Bangladesh or
abroad for promotion of export of Bangladesh products;
(d) Organize and arrange participation in industrial, trade and export fairs and exhibitions
abroad,
(e) Organize trade and export fairs within the country.
(f) Undertake and organize publicity of Bangladesh expert products abroad;
(g) Perform such functions as my be assigned to it by the Government
(h) Appoint such committee or committees as it think fit to assist it in the formulations of
policies and programmes and for efficient and expeditious execution of those policies and
programmes:
(i) Provide for training, studies, surveys, experiments or technical research; or contribute
towards the costs of any such studies, surveys, experiments or technical research made by
any other agency;
(j) Impose any fee or other charges for services rendered by it;
(k) Do all other things connected with or ancillary to the attainment of the objectives
aforesaid.
