To assure the highest quality, only ISO standardized test methods are used on approved/
accredited test facilities. HALT is widely used in
the design phase to ensure robustness of the
design as well as DVP&R and FMEA methods
for risk management.
All design and test results are documented according to Develcos ISO9001 quality system.

Production Test Setup

A particularly sensitive aspect of ongoing production is a good and reliable test setup.
This goes for the quality of the test equipment
and the tests performed as well as the test time,
which is highly relevant for cost optimization.
Develco has an extensive experience in building
reliable test equipment, which fits into a modern
manufacturing setup.
The key components in Develcos flexible test
equipment solutions are high-quality calibrated
standard measuring instruments.
However, Develco also makes specially designed
test fixtures adapted to the product.

Grundfos GO

Grundfos GO - Easy controlling of pumps

Grundfos approached Develco about development of a remote control for their pumps of the future. What they had
in mind was a mobile toolbox for professional users of their
pumps and systems. The toolbox should provide access to
control the pump, reporting and data collection.
The new pump controller should be hand-held and easy and
intuitive to use.
This development task was outside Grundfos core competences, as the toolbox would be a kind of accessory to go
with their core products.
Another challenge was the deadline. The launch of two new
product series was only seven months away, and they could
not be launched without the mobile toolbox. Develco therefore had to manage the project very tightly. Develco developed a unit capable of communicating via radio technology

as well as infrared communication.

Develco was in charge of development of all product variants with regard to:

Develco made a hardware add-on in two different versions,
suitable for Apple devices and for mobile devices based on
Android. The unit communicates via iAP/iAP2 and is plugged
directly into an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. Separate portable hardware was also developed that can communicate via
Bluetooth with both iOS products and Android units.

The customer decided to approach

Develco based on our expertise in
feedpump controllers. Emitec needed
help to develop an electronic motor
controller for their concept, which
was initially meant to be a concept to
supplement their existing business.
Develco developed both the hardware and the embedded software for
the product.
Develco was in charge of the development right from the first prototype
through product maturing to final
run-in and validation of production.
The product was developed in a number of versions to accommodate both
retrofitting to existing vehicles and
integration into new vehicles. Our
significant contribution was enabled
by deep and extensive expertise within electronically commutated motors
and control of step motors.

Develco developed a controller that

could measure various parameters,
calculate feed data and then feed the
exact amount of liquid required into the
exhaust gas. Automotive electronics is
subject to extremely rigorous requirements as the electronics are meant to
function in harsh environments and
must comply with a vast number of
standards and test requirements.

Volvo - Robust ECU

Engine Control Unit for Volvo Construction Equipment.

In 2008, Develco and GPV established collaboration on developing a new

Engine Control Unit for Volvo Construction Equipment (V-ECU). Develco was
responsible for development of electronics, and GPV was responsible for the
mechanic integration and production.
The V-ECU is the central control unit in Volvo CEs off-road Articulated Haulers
and potentially in Wheel Loaders and Excavators etc., which in use are exposed
to harsh environments, heavy vibrations, dirt, temperature fluctuations, damp
etc. This implies huge requirements regarding electrical as well as mechanical
robustness. Develco has great expertise within development of electronics for
the automotive industry, but this was a special challenge due to the immense
technical demands.
The complete V-ECU is a complex unit with both analogue and digital technology, over 2400 components, and high component density.
The many I/O with OBD (On Board Diagnostics), both analogue with high
accuracy (0.02%) and digital outputs with up to 3 Amps. output power, represented a great challenge for both electrical and thermal design.
The safety requirements demanded OBD on all I/O to ensure that the unit
is able to determine whether a given output functions properly or perhaps is
shorted, interrupted or for some other reason does not work. To enhance safety
margins, the V-ECU was designed to comply with significantly tightened EMC
requirements in relation to the applicable regulatory requirements.
The V-ECU is designed to be consistent with the requirements for an IEC 61508
SIL2 classification. (Safety Integrity Level 2).

EMS partners, who can handle manufacturing, procurement
and boxbuild/warehouse order picking. Develcos competences cover the entire life cycle of a product. Develco can
offer run-in of production and delivery of finished products,
e.g. as a continuation of developing a product.

Product maintenance
As the competences of EMS suppliers tend to be narrow and
strictly manufacturing-oriented, they will often be unable to
meet the customers needs for problem solving and continuous product updating.
Develco can help secure the customer a smooth and coherent supply chain.

Services
Develcos services include New Product Introduction (NPI),
handling of prototyping, ramp-up and run-in of production
and factory inspections. The purpose for the NPI process is to
involve the production companies early in the development
process. The NPI process shall ensure the project and production requirements are being implemented in the production set-up and supply chain. Develco offers and guarantees
our customers a smooth, coherent supply chain flow.

Test equiment & production testing

A particularly sensitive aspect of running production is a
good and reliable test setup. This goes for the quality of the
test equipment and the tests performed, but also for the test
time, which is highly relevant to cost optimization.
Develco has a lot of experience in building test equipment
that tests what needs to be tested (neither more, nor less),
and which is reliable and fits into a modern manufacturing
setup.

EMS Partner
The EMS may be located in Denmark, Europe or in the Far
East. The choice of location will depend on the need for
flexibility and the opportunity for optimization, based on an
evaluation of the specific product involved.
The EMS provider is selected in cooperation with the customer. Once production has been run in and tested, a continuous cost optimization process can be initiated.

History

Develco was founded on September 1, 1989 by engineer

Aksel Kloster Srensen, who quickly got development tasks
for companies such as Grundfos, Crisplant, CCI and the
Norwegian taxi industry. Six months later, a former colleague,
Kresten Nrgaard Christensen, joined the company.
In 2002 Develco was transformed into a limited liability company owned by its management.
The customer base has evolved over the years across industries and internationally, and Develco has worked for leading
companies in several continents. Develco has always primarily been an engineering company with a strong foundation
of high technological professionalism. Develco has achieved
a leading position in certain fields, notably in the use of wireless technologies. This led in 2007 to a spin-off from Develco
with the establishment of Develco Products, which makes intelligent control products based on ZigBee technology.
COO Regner Krug Bendtsen, who joined the company in
1991, says about the evolution of Develco:
